I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

ok now I’m ready to spill my guts

Instead of Walking felt like something that was inevitable and impossible for a long time. I had no idea how it was gonna get recorded or even what was going to be on it. But I was blessed with some great friends who encouraged me and never let me get too down on myself. It also didn’t hurt that they’re super talented and filled in the spots that I didn’t know what to do with.

A bigger thank you to my little brother for taking this picture and going everywhere I dragged him. funny enough he’s the one who said I should take this particular picture straight on. I originally wasn’t sure if I wanted my face in it at all or if I wanted a straight on shot. He knows his sister and apparently he knows my angles too because this is my favorite from that whole day.

This ep is mostly about the strange and distinctive lonely longing I felt growing up but even still now. For y’all who decide to listen I hope you feel seen. I hope you find something in it you connect to. Just as much as this project is for me I also think it’s for whoever listens to it. Assign your own meaning. Relate it to whatever you need. That’s what others music has always done for me and it’s a big part of why I started writing in the first place.
