(knifelizard) spinner's just gonna. stand in front of toga. "hey, uh, heard you're lookin' for someone to carry you around. i'm not as tall as some of the others, but..." he's strong at least, so he crouches over and lets her climb up onto his back. "where we going?"

hmm. there was a beat as toga considered what spinner had to say. it’s true, he wasn’t as tall as some of the others. but he was taller than her and also willing to let her up on his back, so that was good enough for her.  “ ooh, thanks spinner!! “  she scrambled in her excitement to get on his back, attempting to get onto his shoulders for maximum height. 

“ let’s go see if i’m tall enough to stab dabi in the face! “

55. severed hand 70. stab wound to chest

stepping in front of aizawa is an instinct that eijiro doesn’t even have think on anymore. his quirk is a shield, and that makes it his job to protect his allies in any way he can. it’s not that he doesn’t trust in their abilities, especially when he’s seen what aizawa can do, but he’s blade and bullet proof when most of his friends aren’t. he’s not quite close enough to get between his teacher and their attacker directly, but he throws an arm out, expecting the blade to bounce uselessly off of him like always, or even break against the surface of his skin. he doesn’t even imagine the blade cutting through his wrist as though he doesn’t have his quirk on at all. 

his other hand was already in motion, punching out to catch her on the jaw. he hears a sickening crunch and sees her crumple to the ground, but then reality catches up with him, so  at odds with what he’d expected that he can’t make sense of it at first. and it doesn’t occur to eijiro until after, when he’s staring in horror at his hand, now disconnected from his body and motionless on the ground, that he’s maybe learned to rely on his quirk too much. it’s not until he hears his sensei’s sound of pain that, eijiro snaps out of it, ignoring the coldness seeming to spread through his body in favor of this new terrible realization. if his hand didn’t stop the blade, that meant that aizawa had been hit too. 

“ sensei! “ his voice was strained in pain, but that’s pushed aside too as he sees the knife sticking out of aizawa’s chest, blood already visible even against his black clothing.  “ aizawa i- “  he’s failed, and that’s the only thought that seems to ring clearly though his pain addled brain, blood dripping down his skin as he holds his arm close to his chest. aizawa could die, he had failed him.  “ we’ve got to- you’re going to be okay. i- we’ll get help. sensei, i.. i’m sorry, i tried, i-” he cuts off with a groan of pain, the agony finally seeming to cut through his shock. but he can’t worry about that now, he has to get aizawa help. “ please don’t die. please. “  

but he doesn’t know how he can lift his teacher up with only one hand, and panic starts swelling within him, joining the already dizzying pain. still, he can’t fail aizawa more than he already has. so he maneuvers his injured arm under aizawa’s head, trying his best to ignore the pain, but screaming out against the effort anyway, and hooks his other arm under his teacher’s legs before lifting him up. he just needed to get to one of the other pro’s that had been here with them. there was still time, there had to be.  “ it’ll be okay.. “

a chuckle leaves his lips, just this side of bitter, he’s really not sure how they all want to place the blame on him when his classmates were all so happy to believe that he was some useless idiot. hell, half of them had made fun of him for it at some point or another. but that was heroes for you.  “ i’m going to need some clarification bakugou. are you so surprised because you trusted me and thought i was your friend? or are you just shocked that i managed to trick you? because i’ve got to be honest, you weren’t that great of a friend to me either. “  bakugou was the first to deny their friendship, so denki wasn’t sure why he should have to stay loyal.  

“ yet, even after all that, i wanted to bring you with me. who do you think convinced the league that you were worth turning? so, don’t worry bakubro, it wasn’t all a lie, i like having you around. “
