What amazes me the most about this quote (besides the fact that the interviewer knew "Always" 😭😭😭), was how much Namjoon still wrestles with the need to appear strong. The need is especially clear in his early work - even/especially pre-debut - and I suppose I had assumed that as he had walked through the "Love Yourself" series and the MOTS era, that he had overcome a lot of that.

Reading this response made me realize how important projecting "strength" still is to him. It really is such an ingrained part of his personality. Others might disagree with me, but I think he wants to appear "strong" more than any other BTS member. Which makes the utter vulnerability of his work (Always, Mono., Reflection, that pre-debut whose name requires a trigger warning) all the more fascinating.

It also makes the atmosphere of warm acceptance, praise, camaraderie and vulnerability he has fostered within BTS all the more fascinating as well. I think a lot of that has to do with the influence of (and his responsibility for) other members. Hm.... I should write a longer post on that sometime. I have so many thoughts.
