The ghosts of 1A are locked in an endless fight against those who would bring about another socital collapse. The energy required has caused many of them to fade, forced back into the reincarnation cycle as the energy from life that kept their spirits in the physical world drained away.

But Izuku has One for All on his side - the quirk never fully left him before his death, hanging on to him because he was the user it chose, the one it wished to die with. He gains the life energy of each new wielder to complement his own - it drains them, causes them to age more quickly, but there is nothing Izuku can do about it, so he uses the gift of time rather than wasting it.

Nezu can feel his days are numbered. Night terrors riddle his dreams, faceless children dog his every step, a a single dark figure crackling with lifetimes worth of energy poorly contained within a cracking shell get closer with every passing day.

He had plans, countless plans, but the paranoia and fear has left his ability to carry out any of them lacking. He does not know what follows him, but he knows it will win with every fibre of the animal instinct he has spent his whole life trying to supress.

It will kill him, and it will hurt the whole time hes dying.
