When I started Pokemon Reloaded I picked Mabonny hoping she would evolve into something pretty. And she is pretty, pretty as a poison dart frog. . . That spits fire.

So I watched Blue Eye Samurai.

Needless to say I enjoyed it very much.

I wanted to draw something for @feefal 's #funguary challenge but I didn't have a lot of good fungal ideas, I've also been wanting to draw some of my OCs but most of them are in the "cloudy, vaguely formed thought" stage and I don't have much of a theme or costume or even basic color palette for most of them. So thinking about these two issues I remembered that decay exists as an extant form of life and suddenly my grim reaper designs have a lot more flavor to them.

This is Lorelei, the peaceful death. She's the one that comes for you if you're at peace with the fact of your inminent demise and uses her torch to guide souls into the afterlife. I wanted to give her a young look and a dress that would be about as appropriate in a funeral as in a celebration. Her raven is called Edgar and he's also a guide for spirits.

She has some bleeding teeth (fungus) on her hat because those fungus are actually beneficial for their hosts and has dead man's fingers (fungus) on her torch because those fungus grow from wood. She also has dead man's fingers (not fungus) because she's dead. . . Kind of.

I've been playing the PS2 Bakugan battle brawlers game (since I've been lacking a stable internet connection since early december) and I'm also adapting to a new job. So I drew Harpus and painted her on different attributes in my spare time.

I'm not too happy with Subterra, the blue hair stripes looked better in my head but I do really like what I did with Darkus' eyes and Haos' red claws and hair. I wanted to make them look like two sides of the same coin with Haos being stained with blood (not literally but I wanted to get that look) and Darkus' eyes popping out of the darkness in her face. Pyrus ended up looking real pretty too.

Fungi: "You cannot kill me in a way that matters."

Root rot! Primary killer of all my houseplants. It’s caused by overwatering and fungi growth (everything always comes back to fungi)

Saichania Typhlosion Fusion: Saychiphon

This one took way too long and looks. . . Decent. . . I guess. But I'm going through a pretty strong art block right now and I had to break it somehow. The concept of the Cyndaquill style fire spikes looked better in my head but I explored different ways to draw fire for this drawing and I'm pretty happy about the exploration itself.

Daymare, the dream pokemon. Daymare has learned to move within the dreaming and waking world at the same time and so she's technically always asleep. While they hide from people in the waking world to avoid scaring them they are a common sight in dreams within the Ionia region. Daymare trainers are said to never have nightmares again.

I told you she'd get more interesting later! For her design I originally just wanted to introduce a dreamcatcher motif for her staff but after going through a small research rabbit hole I learned that the dreamcatcher's origin is an imitation of a spider web, thought to offer protection from the "spider grandmother" to children (and not explicitly in dreams but in real life as well). And I just couldn't resist making Lillia a spider, I'm sorry. It's just so fitting too, Lillia is shy and afraid of nightmares both in dreams and in the real world while her evolution takes that nightmare concept and turns it into something protective, she's a Daymare, even if she kind of looks like a nightmare at first glance. Lillia, the dream pokemon After their first encounter with a nightmare Lillias tend to grow very frightened and will usually jump between dreaming and waking states to avoid problems. Their curiosity though is usually more bolstered than hampered by this fear.

This is stage 2 of the Lillia pokemon line and it's the one most similar to the original champion. The idea was to show character growth through her personality with Lil'lil being innocent and oblivious, Lillia being afraid of the problems that she sees and (spoiler) the final evolution understanding that good and bad feelings are a reality of both the waking and dreaming world and learning to accept and adapt to that. The biggest change I did to her design in this stage is introducing the dreamcatcher motif with her stick.

ENGLISH: This is stage 1 of a pokemon line based on Lillia from League of Legends. I know the artstyle is nothing like pokemon but the intent is what matters. This one's pretty basic but worry not, she'll get more interesting later. ;) - Lil'lil, the dream pokemon. Lil'lil is still new to the world of flesh and to the world of dreams and often forgets which plane is she on right now. She likes to prance, to cuddle and to stare at people and pokemon while they sleep.

CASTELLANO: Esta es la etapa 1 de un pokemon basado en Lillia de League of Legends. Ya sé que el estilo no se parece en nada a pokemon pero me chupa. Este diseño es medio básico pero no te preocupes, se va a poner más interesante después ;) - Lil'lil, el pokemon sueño. Lil'lil es nueva en el mundo de carne y en el mundo de los sueños y a menudo olvida en qué plano está. Le gustan las corridas, los abrazos y mirar a la gente y los pokemon mientras duermen.

This is SAUROHAX, the fusion between a spinosaurus and a haxorus.

As a pokemon I envision this thing as a Dragon-Water type with massive stats and some niche negative ability that reduces its speed and defenses while not in water or in rain, or something like that.

Design-wise this took longer than expected because I just didn't know how to fit those fangs in a spinosaur mouth. Now technically the random number I got was 610 so I could've just done an Axew-Spinosaur fusion but I figured Haxorus would look cooler and I was right so I regret nothing.

I've only had Spearow for 13 seconds but if anything were to happen to them I would kill everyone in this website and then myself

I envisioned the structure more like a wooden hat. And considering Metamolder is made out of actual metamorphic stone I don't think it's even uncomfortable really. Definitely not harmful.

I've been following @n0rtist 's stema region ( https://www.youtube.com/@n0rtist ) for a while and I wanted to draw one of his designs. This is my rendition of Metamolder. I liked the way metamolder's head protuberance looks like a pirate hat and the pirate hat in itself looks like a boat so I drew Pequod, the noble ship of the not-so-noble pirate gang led by the unnamed fella waving his sword at nothing over there. I also added a Levestress and some Lagomights on the ship since N0rt had the intention of making them the bad guy mons.

5/5 Mr. Wolf. And that's the whole gang.

Mr. Wolf was interesting because I really wanted to give him a proper "silver fox" vibe, like the older gentleman that's still charming, attractive and intelligent. Not to mention I forgot to give Mr. Snake the age that I wanted to give him so I was left wanting to draw an older character. But Mr. Wolf is canonically only 31, so I decided to mix two tropes; The pretty boy but who's getting into his thirties and seamlessly transitioning into a silver fox, a man that combines some of the more modern traits of contemporary sex appeal and an older, more experienced gentleman. I am eager to revisit this design in the future once I'm a better artist but until then I am satisfied with this result. His legs are kinda lanky but that's the original character as well.

This is 4/5, Human Mr. Snake from The Bad Guys movie and let me ask you:

WHY WAS THIS GENERIC ASS MOTHER F*CKER SO DIFFICULT TO DRAW?!

Originally I wanted him to look kinda like Eddie Valiant from Who Framed Roger Rabbit but lankier, more skinny. And he did end up kinda like I wanted but I don't know. Also his color kinda fucked me up, I wanted him to be about as yellow as humanly possible but after an actual week of researching I came to learn that there is no properly yellow melanin, it's apparently only brown, black or red so for him to look yellow he had to have a skin condition that I didn't want to go into which ended up throwing his whole color scheme off, not to mention the pose, IT'S APPARENTLY REALLY DIFFICULT TO POSE A SNAKE, and humanizing a snake in a way consistent with it is apparently very hard too. And the background, a solid snake shaped background with some extra personal detail should be very simple right? RIGHT? It was not, oh boy it was not.

Well, at least I finished him. Maybe in a few years once I'm a better artist I'll re-do him, but for now this will have to do. All in all it's probably not the worst thing I've posted, definitely not the worst character design I've made. Just. . . A little dissapointing, I thought I'd do a better job with this one. This did make me appreciate the animators of the movie a lot more though, if making a humanized snake is this hard actually having a snake character and making them do stuff in a way that looks interesting is probably even harder.

I wanted him to look buff since he's such a fighter so my seach history now has an oddly high amount of dwarf bodybuilders and Peter Dinklage pics. Regardless I'm happy with the result, the Bad Guys are such a varied cast and I wanted to make sure my humanizations reflect that diversity in body types, facial features and color palettes. I'm not super happy with the background shape tho, they kinda look like a bug mandible to me but whatever, a more piranha-like shape looked too weak and a more cleaver-like shape looked too refined so I added the fin things to the sides to complement.

I think I'm gonna do all 5 of the Bad Guys as humans, it just feels right.

This one took way longer than expected, originally I wanted to give him a tan reflecting the darker color sharks have on their top side, but I learned the hard way that I suck at painting tans. Then I tried giving him just a ton of arm and back hair for the same effect, and it sucked again. So I decided to screw it and leave it as is. I'm still pretty happy with how this one turned out, I took a while to figure out the proportions but I think he looks good.

The shark version also had a shark tooth in his necklace so I decided that he should hang a human incisor from his necklace. Gives him a bit more of an intimidation factor with that friendly face he's got going.

I had a chat recently with a fellow artist named Xeno who was complimenting my human Ms. Tarantula drawing of a few days ago and he asked if I could humanize his SkeleSpider (www.deviantart.com/dinofoxy5/a…).

The design is pretty cool and I felt it had quite a bit of personality already to work with, also I incursioned into leather painting and. . . I suck, I suck at making shiny leather, but I tried and that's what matters.

So yeah, this is the human version of SkeleSpider by Xeno (DA Dinofoxy5) and I'm satisfied with the result.

This is Miss Tarantula "Webs" from the Bad Guys movie. But with a few less legs. . . And hair. . . And also a little bit taller.

I think I'm finally done with my involuntary hiatus and I watched The Bad Guys recently. Good movie, very funny, do recommend. Do not look up art about this lady though. You won't like what you'll find. . . Okay maybe you will, there's a lot of weirdos here but it's unlikely.

About the design I wanted to make her short, because she's canonically very tiny. Also that joke she makes "8 legs, 8 times the cardio". . . Yeah, that and the leg warmer-like color scheme in her legs inspired a lot in this design. I did struggle with the skin color, I wanted to paint her more red-ish than orange-ish or yellow-ish but I ended up going with brown because otherwise the red was a little overwhelming. Also brown skin with red/orange hair is a BEAUTIFUL color combination and I wish it was used more frecuently.

I may draw the rest of the gang soon enough, or I may take another 5 months break, I'm not quite sure.

This thing is the Tibetor. An omnivore predator with a niche similar to bears. The horns and plates are actually flexible cartilage with an ossified coat used for mating display, remnants of a distant past as a prey item.

Jokes aside, I actually didn't mean for it to look so much like a secretary bird, it just happened when I gave a lyre bird a sharp beak, long legs and a crest. The little green things on it's neck are air sacks like the frigate bird's, but smaller.
