Hi everyone! I'm very pleased to share my contribution to @inu-spiration: "An Auspicious Fortune" (Rated T), features a pining Inuyasha, a Sango who gets a troublesome fortune, and a Miroku who's trying to keep it all together.

Inuyasha’s scowl deepened. “Don’t fuckin’ joke with me, Miroku,” he grumbled, and turned his head away.

“Come, come now,” Miroku cajoled him, patting his friend on the shoulder. “You can tell me, Inuyasha. We’ve been friends a long time; we’re business partners now, right?” He dropped from a squat to his knees. “What’s troubling you, old friend?”

Inuyasha grouched, and pulled a piece of paper from his pocket. Miroku recognized it immediately; it was a small red omikuji, just like the one Sango and the children were waiting in line for. Miroku held out his hand. “May I?” he asked, kindly.

“Keh.” Inuyasha shoved it at him. “Don’t fuckin’ matter, anyway.”

“I’m sure that it does.” Miroku took the omikuji and opened it. His eyes grew wide at the fortune. “Why, Inuyasha, it’s…”

“A dai-kichi,” Inuyasha muttered. “Yeah, I know.”

Miroku tried to keep his composure. Why would a great blessing irritate his friend so?

“But, Inuyasha,” Miroku began, trying to see the reason, “isn’t this what you’ve wanted? What you’ve been waiting for?”

Inuyasha whipped around to face Miroku, who was stunned to see Inuyasha’s eyes wet with tears. “What I’ve been waiting for, you damn monk,” he hissed, “is for Kagome to fuckin’ come back through that well, not for some stupid, shitty fortune promising that some vague great thing’s gonna happen! Who knows what that’ll be!”

“Maybe it will be her,” Miroku reasoned.

“Yeah,” Inuyasha scoffed, “or maybe my brother will finally eat shit and die.”

Miroku choked back a laugh.

After a long life in the village when it became apparent that she was not aging normally, she was expelled from the village, and forced to move from town to town until she was captured by some bandits where she would be sold at auction, she was saddened by such a fate, but when she was on the stand to be auctioned she looked at the public and a familiar face stood out from among them all, they both stared at each other for several moments before he walked to the stand regardless of what the others said, he looked upset, the auctioneer tried to stop him but was greeted by corrosive claws and immediately fell to the ground dead and chaos broke out.

"Sesshomaru" he whispered her name when he was in front of her.

"I finally found you." He replied before taking her in his arms and leaving the place.

Nocturne Chapter One - Part Three

There was a soft, light touch on her right shoulder that sent another shiver through her body. The brush was velvet and brief but followed by the hot breath of the man as he lowered himself behind her. A hand reached out and traced the outline of her neck and down her shoulder. Kagome felt herself leaning into the touch, nearly nuzzling the hand with her cheek. He grabbed both of her shoulders, first resting gently with some form of restraint, but the grip went from gentle to firm. She could feel the barest of pricks from the sharp nails that encircled her shoulders.

'Claws?' the fuzzy thought formed in her head.

The clawed hand gripping her right shoulder moved slowly down her arm and then back up. The breath on her neck moved closer until she could feel the wet warmth of his tongue and lips connect to her skin. She moaned against the contact and felt herself melt. His hand drifted down to caress the fullness of her breasts, and her head snapped back, and she felt her jaw go slack. Delicious longing contracted through her middle and settled between her legs. Suddenly the warmth pulled away in retreat. Kagome nearly sighed in dismissal. How could someone reject her so quickly, a small part of her wondered.

The voice echoed in her mind, 'Kneel,' 'Stay,' 'Submit.'

'Submit,' she thought on the funny word.

It meant to yield to a superior authority of another person, she recalled in the depths of her consciousness. So she was supposed to comply with this guy's will? She would have laughed at any other time, but not now. Now she felt that she would die if she did not feel the warm caress of his skin upon hers or his lips touching the tender, exposed curve of her neck.

She could hear the rustle of clothing and a loud clang as metal hit the rocky floor and resonated through the silence of the cave, echoing beyond into the darkness. The sound made her flinch despite herself. Her mind was still fuzzy, but her desire was clear and overwhelming.

Kagome remained kneeling, and the man walked around her. Though the voices had instructed her to 'submit,' she raised her head to look at the man. It was still too dark to see, but she could make out the barest of outlines. She had already seen that he was tall, and that was confirmed as he towered over her. For the briefest of moments, his eyes glowed golden in the darkness, and her breath caught in her throat. Those eyes... she knew those eyes.

He lowered himself down in front of her, their eyes locked on one another. Could he see her in the darkness with those glowing eyes? He must have been able to see her; he reached out with his hand and cupped her face. He pulled her close, and she could feel the warmth of his skin. She could feel his face so close to her own, and she longed for that gap between their lips to be filled.

There was restraint within him. She could sense that much. It was like there was something inside, waiting to pounce and devour her. And she wanted to be devoured. She longed for it. Could he tell? Could he sense her desire?

My beach day head cannon is that Inuyasha wld spend the whole time digging up crabs (what I do 💀) then torment Kagome w them. She wld def be scared of the crab too lmao.

This actually took me too long and I could keep working on it but I must cut it off here for my own sanity… inukag week is taking me back to my 2020 amino days

I e been meaning to post more AU! Inuyasha stuff but I’ve been so busy! Here’s Priestess Kagome!

Rain

Shippo looked up at the tall man that had unceremoniously placed him down, "Did you just spit on me?"

Sesshomaru's brow furrowed, "Tch, who do you take me for kit?"

Kagome's head jerked upwards, "I think that was a rain drop."

Not two seconds later, the sky opened up. Kagome quickly leaned over little Rin, "MAMA I THINK IT WAS RAIN!"

The heavy roar of the sudden rain storm muffled her laughing at her boy. She tugged at her shirt desperately, trying to keep the little ones dry as she herded them under the thicker tree line.

Her eyes darted about, heavy with raindrops, "Where's Sesshomaru?!"

This prompted Shippo to come from beneath her, the basket on his head. His eyes spotting the demon easier, "Hey! SESSHOMARU!" He waved his little arm, "Over here!"

He scurried back to Kagome, "Should we wait?"

Shippo shook his tail, "Wait here, Mama."

"Wait, Shippo," but the boy quickly bounded back into the heavy rain.

Quickly running towards the tall silver beacon that was the elder, Sesshomaru. "Sesshomaru," he shouted, "What are you standing here for?!"

He lifted the side of his pelt, the boy quickly clinging to his leg. His gleaming yellow eyes narrow, "The humans."

He peeked up at him, "Forget them! Mama will keep waiting for you- AND ME! So we NEED to find shelter!"

The rain was not going to relent. He dipped quickly, scooping up the boy and tucking him into his large pelt. He found her easily. She was soaked, "Come, a storm approaches." She nodded, glancing over his shoulder when his hand took her elbow, "Quickly."

She walked as quickly as she could, given the odd angle she kept to keep Rin as dry as she could.

He should have stopped her. Taken it upon himself to shelter them. But she continued her silly antics to keep the children in high spirits. Only hearing their laughter and the harsh rain.

She was a good mother.

Did he admire her for that?

Hehehe, just Kagome walking like a duck to protect her lil' chickies. 🦆🐤🐤 and Sesshomaru being like shit that's cute 🫣💕

Canon Compliant

Canon compliant fics follow the canon exactly and don't alter the setting or canonical plot events too drastically. An example of a canon compliant fic would be for example a retelling of a specific scene from another character's point of view.

VS

Modern AU

Modern AU is a fic that takes place in a contemporary setting instead of the work's canonical setting. In SessKag, modern AU fics are typically set in modern day Japan. They can either still feature youkai and miko, or be all human AUs as well.

Canon divergence

Canon divergence fics follow canon up to a point. They take place in the canon setting and may follow the canonical plotline fairly closely, before they began to spin off to their own direction. "What if Kikyo didn't die?" "What if Kagome never went back to the Feudal era?" "What if Kagome met Sesshoumaru first?" are all types of canon divergent fic scenarios.

VS

Historical AU

A fic that takes place in an alternative setting that's in a different time period than the canonical setting. For SessKag, this could be anything any other time period than Sengoku era and up to the 1990s. SessKag in Heian era? Meiji era? Regency England? Any other time is a fair game.

Missing episode, or a missing scene fic, is canon compliant fic that is set between specific canon events, but it is a moment that's never actually shown to the audience.

Chapter 13 - The Finale

For the first time in her life, Kagome saw everything. Every emotion, every turmoil he felt, and every ounce of relief that rolled off of him as he absorbed her presence. Stupidly, her mouth opened and closed as she could not find any words to speak to better the situation. Kagome was trapped in his sorrowful gaze.

“You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you,” he whispered to her.

Little author’s note here. Thank you to everyone who read this little story of mine! My first long form fic has come to an end. I love this fandom, and gods I love this ship.

Hi beautiful humans. This is my first Inuyasha fanfiction. I am posting a chapter a day for inukag-week. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Yearning for you

Kagome's head rolled to the left, dust filling her nose and mouth.

He was there, she could feel him as the miasma thickened.

She sensed the streaks of power resonate out as the roar of the demon hoard grew.

It almost overwhelmed the ringing in her ears. Opening her eyes seemed like so much work. It felt like the weight of the settling dust on her skin was crushing her.

Warmth brushed her cheek, the grace of a claw on her lips. As her mind was consumed by darkness, her thoughts were of him; yearning for his touch.

Inuyasha.

He saw her fall. It was an impossible height. With the immense power of the hit, her piece of the jewel shard had shattered, and she had fallen off the edge of the steep canyon wall.

Demons scrambled around her, fighting over fragments as she tumbled. He saw only her. A cry of her name rang through the air as she found ground, landing with crushing speed.

Seconds felt like hours and it was lifetimes until he finally arrived at her side. The hoard swirled as he reached for her.

Kagome.

He had fucked up.

Again.

He watched her hair whip around her face.

He screamed her name; heard her bones crack against the earth.

He failed.

Her.

He had been so confident.

Said ‘shut up and let me protect you, stupid.’

Like he always did.

Her eyes shone with trust as she watched him leap down into the dry canyon.

He had seen only fear in her gaze as she fell.

He tried to reach for her.

Desperately using his claws to rip at the purple tendrils surrounding him. He had finally broken free just as Kagome's body was being lifted off the ground before she became consumed by a bright glow as it blinded him.

But not before he saw him.

Naraku.
