Human Artists using AI as a Tool

Most people when talking about AI art just mention the ethical issues but ignore the future implications. If AIart is this good now, how long until it replaces the artist? At least in lower-skill areas like graphic design and commission work.

I've seen some people, like CM Koseman, saying artists should get better at traditional, physical art like painting. Which is fine, but I feel like that's just resisting the tide instead of going with the flow.

In the near future, I think AI will be automating most of the technical aspects of art, but it'll be a long time before it can automate inspiration, symbolism, or other deeper meaning. Not to mention self-expression. Perhaps we should try to strengthen our ability to tell stories with art and use AI as a tool.

There are a lot of programs already that allow users to direct the AI with more detail and nuance than just feeding it keyphrases. Like, you can draw a sketch of something and the AI adds detail.

I bet future versions of photoshop will have stuff like that. Or you can set parameters for auto shading instead of doing it manually. Or autogenerate a background so all your character art isn't just an OC floating in a white void.

AI will be another very powerful tool that would make art much faster and easier without taking away from what really matters. Kind of like layers or stretching or other new tools you can't really use with a physical canvas.

I still dislike the existence of AI art, but we can't choose what world we live in.

How Mitochondria used to be Parasites that Created Gender

How Mitochondria used to be Parasites that Created Gender Forward: I’ve been too busy this past week to write an article but didn’t want to be on hiatus for so long. I found this article which I wrote four or five months ago but didn’t post because the humor turned out a lot darker than what I would normally do. I dunno, mitochondria are just really based and spicy, I guess. Keep that in…
