Hi so uhhh funny question what is proshipping??/gen

Proship basically means "ship and let ship" aka it's an anti-harassment take to let people ship whatever they wanna ship. The "pro" part of "proship" means "in favor of," similar to how the word "pro" is used in regards to pros and cons. ( I'm mentioning that since some people think the "pro" stands for "problematic," which it does not. )

Some people often confuse "proship" for "darkship," which is a term for ships that are considered problematic/dark in nature. This includes abusive ships, incest ships, pedophilic ships, etc.

Sometimes you can also find people saying proshippers and/or darkshippers support pedophilia, incest, etc, but this isn't true ( in most cases. You can find bad apples in all communities ofc. ) Though many proshippers are into darkfic stuff and/or support paraphiles, we most often than not do not support abuse in any form when it comes to real life.

You don't have to ship anything problematic to be proship, or ship anything at all for that matter. You just have to believe in anti-harassment and that people have a right to ship whatever they want to, even if it goes against your own personal morals/likes. Squicks ( aka things you personally find gross and don't want to see/interact with ) are normal and many proshippers have them.

Proship often goes hand-in-hand with other stances as well such as pro-kink and anti-censorship, but again, it isn't really necessary to believe in those things to be considered/identify as proship.

Hope this definition is good enough. If I missed anything then other people are welcome to add anything in the tags/reblogs/comments. And also sorry for the ramble. They're many misconceptions about what proship is online, so I wanted to cover most of those misconceptions.

I hope I’m not misguided when I say this, but I hate how sanitized the queer community has become. We used to be some of the biggest voices against purity culture and now we’re on the front lines in perpetuating it.

It's funny. Once upon a time, our own relationships, even if positive, could have even been considered a comship for going against the grain. It is sad to see our community siding with those who once oppressed us and even still try.

You know, sometimes I remember I used to write yandere!DSMP headcanons and oneshots on here, and had around 1k followers before I deleted everything a year or two ago.

Idk sometimes I get the urge to re-enter the fandom now that all the main toxicity in the fandom has died out ( from what I can tell. )
