I hope I’m not misguided when I say this, but I hate how sanitized the queer community has become. We used to be some of the biggest voices against purity culture and now we’re on the front lines in perpetuating it.
It's funny. Once upon a time, our own relationships, even if positive, could have even been considered a comship for going against the grain. It is sad to see our community siding with those who once oppressed us and even still try.

Yeah I think part of the reason is that queer history isn't being taught to younger queers anymore
Or at least not as much
Tbh I probably don't know large chunks of queer history since I'm also a younger queer person
And haven't really been taught much about the community's history at all
But I at least know the kink community has helped/supported the queer community and such
And that pride is meant to be for people who go against the social norm + was obv originally a rally for equality/acceptance
I may not know the specifics and should probably look into it more to get my exact facts correct
But I still know enough to know purity culture does not belong in the queer community
I'm sure corporations has also done some damage when it comes to stripping pride parades of what they originally were
And has basically boiled June/pride down to a softcore holiday to sell anything in rainbow colors
Either way something something leopards eating their faces or whatever they say
