Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter

The girl catches sight of her own reflection, then looks down at her dress, pulling it away from her body with her hands. After a moment, she turns and walks away, dejected.

Two middle-aged parents stand near a table with a birthday cake on it with nine candles; on the wall is a banner reading "Happy Birthday Natalie" but the last four letters of the name have been scratched over so that the banner reads "Nathan." The father smiles and hands the girl a gift box, which turns out to be an Iron Maiden t shirt.

The girl's face lights up in delight; her cry of "yeah!!" is splashed across the page, growing and twisting into a black metal font, revealing the outburst to be Nathan Explosion singing.

Shit, this is actually making me tear up it’s that beautiful. God I forgot how gorgeous the FF9 soundtrack is. ;_;

FF9 is the only one I’ve actually played (never quite finished alas, got part way through disc 3 before it got too hard for me to figure out). I’d really love to play it again (and play FF7 and 8 for myself) but I’m honestly not sure that’s possible with how much intensive reading is required and how unbelievably bad I am at the combat. No don’t try to explain it, believe me I’ve studied up on RPG mechanics, I just don’t get it and I struggle with the timing. It’s inevitable when you can’t see the enemy attacks coming or read the menus fast enough.
