Okay look, I understand that really important things are happening in the world at the moment, the queens’s funeral, Trump getting sued, Adam Levine cheating on his wife… but people in Iran are being murdered. This began by the cruel murder of a 22 year old girl, Mahsa Amini, last week by the police because she wasn’t wearing appropriate hijab. This has been going on in Iran for decades, women have been going through this.
Some people will want to jot this down as islamphobia, but that is nothing even close to reality. If women are burning their headscarves now, it’s not out of the hatred of Islam, it’s an act of protest to the loss of religious freedom. It’s not just that, if someone is born from muslim parents in Iran they are automatically assumed to be a muslim and they have no right to changing their religion without serious persecution. The Islamic Republic has given an evil face to Islam. The poeple of Iran don’t hate Islam. We hate governments who will force religion on women. Historically this has been a recurring event. Before the revolution in the ‘30s Reza Shah forced women to discard their hijab and now for decades the opposite is happening. All the people of Iran have ever asked for is freedom and all they’ve got in return has been cruelty, violence and death.
The cruelty doesn’t end there. Few months ago the southern and western parts of Iran had no water, they also did peaceful protests against that situation and they too were awarded with fire arms and violence. All for asking for the most basic need a person has. A need for water. Iran may not have a lot of water but there is enough for this not to happen. This is evident by the fact that the government is now using that said water against the protesters by blasting them with it.
For the past week the people of Iran of all races and ages and religions are fighting against the regime. The government has been imprisoning defenseless people. They are killing people to show the world they didn’t kill Mahsa Amini. They are using military grade equipment. In some cities they are using tanks, they are using guns and tear gas and batons. They may be using acid in some areas. They are using ambulances to arrest protesters and bring soldiers into crowds. They are doing this so that if the protesters attack these ambulances to free innocent people, they can have proof of people destroying public property. The only weapon people have against this immense level of violence is their bare hands and their courage.
Tumblr has a community of people who pride themselves on social justice and wanting to help people’s voices be heard. What is happening in Iran is no less than what has happened in other countries during the past few years. Iranians are so alone, they have no help. No country is out there helping the people of Iran. At least their voices can be heard. At least people should be aware of what is happening. Tens of people have been killed and hundreds injured just for protesting police brutality, the irony is evident.
Right as all these things are happening, the president of Iran another pillar in this evil government is in the US, talking about the freedom of Iranians and their fortunate lives.
About five years ago after a protest in Tehran; Telegram and Instagram, platforms that were widely used by Iranian were blocked by the government. They were added to the list of social media platforms that were blocked then, like Twitter and Facebook and Tumblr. After a while Instagram was unblocked but Telegram has been blocked since. All of this is just so people from the outside of Iran don’t find out about what is really happening in Iran so the government can lie on their behalf. Like they are doing right now, lying about how Iranian women wear hijab out of sheer will while the reality is that they are dying to gain freedom. About 4 years ago, the internet was completely shut off for about a month. This was following a protest regarding the extremely high price of gas in a country that has all the gas to last a hundred lifetimes. When the internet was shut down people didn’t know for how long. We were kept in the dark and the government was reining while ensuing terror in people with the threat of more restrictions. Just imagine having no internet, it was an insane time. They are restricting the internet again. Last night they shut off the internet partly and they may do it again indefinitely and the voices of the people may not reach anyone again. There isn’t much time.
Then they shot two rockets at a Ukrainian plane that had lifted from Iranian grounds. There were Irannian students on the plane, 176 people who all died for no reason. The government of the Islamic Republic killed all those people for nothing. And all the world did was light a few candles. They need to be held responsible for all these lives they are taking away. All these young people they are killing.
I know that this is long. I know that this is inconvenient. It’s upsetting and I get that but help is truely needed. People can’t keep dying for nothing. The government can’t keep getting away with everything. They have no one to answer to and they can do anything. They kill and torture and imprison. I am just asking people to educate themselves and maybe help spread the word. Go on Twitter and watch the videos if you can. I won’t put them on here because it may be too upsetting. There is blood, there is gunshot wounds, there is violence and there is terror.

Experimental Surgery Consultation

Most of you already know this, but I have a severely damaged airway because of a gas explosion when I was just a baby and rely on a tracheotomy to breathe. I need to go to Cleveland to have a consultation with a specialist about having a full tracheal transplant. This procedure is highly experimental, and the first successful one was conducted in mid-2021, and only a handful have been performed since. No insurance company on the planet will cover this surgery, so I must raise the money on my own.
Any small amount you can give would be an incredible help to my family and me. If you cannot give, please share. Thank you so much for all your support. You are all a genuine blessing.

Hi I don’t really post on here, but I’m kinda confused. I saw a bat that was on the ground and it’s not moving a lot and I put it in a box but I don’t know what to do. Does anybody know what kinda bat this is or what I should do?

Edit: Thank you to the person who responded. I was able to find a rehabilitator for them and they stay with her now. I’ve never did that before, but THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE.

Saturday July 24 around 11pm I was assaulted/attacked by 4 men. It very unreal to me and I’m at a point of my life where my community let me down. The men who attacked me are gay. I am in desperate need of gadgets to protect myself, a new wig that was destroyed during the altercation, and just funds to have while I recover and recuperate from this. I am missing out on job opportunities I had planned out.
I just want to gain a piece of my mind again. I have went to the ER to see if anything on me is infected and/or injured. I was dragged across the pavement. My head was stomped on repeatedly. Thank god I have no head trauma !! My face was bashed in leaving me bloody to the point it caused me to puke up blood for 5 minutes. The police came and didn’t care to get give me any attention. People who I trusted or so I thought turned on me. There was so many folks recording me and didn’t care to help. Just laughing at me. So many men older than me stood and watched me get jumped. It’s just a very horrific experience for me. I’m slowly trying to get away. I need time away for myself. I’m trying to sedate myself as much as I can.
I want to purchase things to help keep me distracted from this. My head has been spinning for the last 2 days. A lot is going through my head I feel like another static. I’m pulling memories from my childhood, to make me feel good. I need to cope as much as possible before I take legal steps.
Please if you have the heart please donate so I can recover in peace I would really appreciate this so much.

[ID: a reply by @/edwardkenwayisyourman, reading: "in addition, black people are facing extreme racism in the Middle East, mainly in UAE and Saudi Arabia. They get hired as maids or servants and their passports get confiscated by their captors to prevent them from escaping the country and are held as slaves. Mostly non-muslim women get hired so the captors won't have to treat them well or give them prayer breaks. Many christian black women get kidnapped from their homes and brought to Saudi Arabia. You can find videos all over the internet. An arab woman literally throws the black maid from the window and records her as she tries to hold the windowsill and beg for help. She unfortunately falls down from the 4th floor but luckily survives. Many, many other maids get tortured by their captors, most of them die in captivity. How do you think the UAE built such high buildings? Slave labour. I know many people, especially on Tumblr, really don't want to say anything bad about arabs or muslims but instead of making them completely immune to criticism maybe we can recognize the fact that every racial, religious, ethnic group have bad people and must be held accountable for their crimes and atrocities? Maybe? Diversity can't come from tolerance to the intolerable. If you show tolerance to the intolerable, intolerance will come for you eventually." /ID end]

To be Palestinian is to learn how to say goodbye over and over again – not just to people, but to places, trees, valleys and childhood foods.
I am no stranger to this as a woman and a Palestinian, who has spent my whole life bidding farewells and trying to make sense of it all. This is precisely the reason, a few years ago, I became obsessed with seeds. Heirloom seeds gave me the opportunity to salvage some old stories, things we were saying goodbye to, and to give them new contemporary twists, subsequently reviving them for the sake of the future. I was trying to avoid another goodbye, and to hopefully offer a new generation at least fragments of their food heritage so they can know where they come from and what they come from.
This is why I started the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library and why, with our team, we invested a lot of time, attention and resources in developing an agroecological site in the heart of the mountain village of Battir – a few kilometers south of Jerusalem and west of Bethlehem and a UNESCO world heritage site. Battir is a major agricultural landscape comprised of ancient stone terraces and a traditional irrigation system dating back thousands of years. For two years now, we have worked hard to reclaim the land and restore the soil. The terrain required significant rehabilitation, including terracing – itself an art which is disappearing.
But all these things that we are working hard to conserve are under threat. Not only from climate change but from the increase in Israeli settlements, illegal under international law and with a presence that is both militant and damaging to the natural terrain. Construction of settlements, along with plans for roads and business parks, carve up ancient landscapes, pollute and damage water sources and harm biodiversity. For us, this is not a story we read in the paper – it is our daily life and thus our daily conversation: how do we persevere in our attempt to salvage the bioculture of this place, while at the same time managing military and settlement expansion?
In the global conversation about conservation and sustainability, we often find ourselves lonely if not misunderstood. How can the world that claims to care about sustainability, be so dismissive of social and political justice? How can we speak of the lost watermelon or the disappearing tomato without having a real conversation about the people who cultivated these varieties and the lands that were once their farms and their homes? And how can we understand food without understanding its people and the systems in which each food practice or variety was created? In Palestine, when we speak of food sovereignty, we are speaking not only about the quality of food or its value, we are speaking about survival. We are speaking of an agri-resistance movement that is defying all odds.
Please HELP Pakistani girl continue education and escape her country!

Hey friends, I know this is not in the theme of my blog, but I really need help. My Pakistani girlfriends father got killed by mafia IN FRONT OF HER because he tried to take back the land they took from him. My girlfriend was already very depressed before because her household is abusive, she was raped which she couldnt get help for and her country is awful and she endured a lot of suffering due to that (she was literally growing up with bombs falling on schools for example), but this really took it to the next level and it worries me and breaks my heart so much. My girlfriend is crushed, not just because of the trauma of having a family member killed in front of her, but because her father was supposed to sell the land so my girlfriend could fly to US for undergraduate studies. She was actually supposed to come last september but it got deferred due to corona, which felt like a good chance for her father to have extra time to get back the land and sell it. This was her whole future. She got a full ride scholarship in the same state Im in and she was SO happy we will finally be able to meet and love each other in real life and escape the poverty and horrible environment of her country. We were both hoping this would be her chance to start over and get the help she needs for depression and trauma she went through (theres much more to the story but I wont be revealing it for her privacy and safety). But with her fathers death her and her mother lost ALL of their property and money and now rely on her aunts husband for all income (they escaped to another city to her aunts where theyre safe for now). If she doesnt leave for university before september, shell probably be forced to marry a man (were lesbians), be raped by him so she could bear kids for him and slave away her life if she even lives through it because shes suicidal. Its absolutely horrible and traumatizing to live there, especially as a woman and especially if youre lgbt+. I cant stress enough how scared I am for her and what could be her life. Shes been there for me through thick and thin and was the reason I myself have gotten out of depression after years of having it. I cant bear the thought of losing her. Shes the most important person to me and the reason Im alive today. I love her like Ive never loved anyone and I need her to get safe and recover and get the education she worked so hard for 😟
So I humbly ask of you to consider donating or reblogging this so more people can see. Please! Here's the donation link:
(also if you could ask people with a lot of followers to reblog that would help so much!)
Were hoping to get enough money for her flight and if that happens soon enough, food, phone memory card and other things shed need before she moves into the dorms in september (shes hoping to get a campus job afterwards). Ill have her stay with me until then, but Im poor and cant afford to cover her expenses. Also doctors visit because shes been raped before and since then has had pain and uncontrollable bladder issues which she should get checked and treated. Therapy too if possible, until she starts university (because shell be able to get university counseling once she starts), due to how dire her state is and how much shes been through. But its least important between other things. Im sorry for asking this of you. But thank you from the bottom of my heart if you decide to reblog, donate or help in any way. And if you know who Im talking about, please dont say anything - you never know who could see it and how it could put her in danger.

I am still sorry if putting this in blm and stop asian hate offends anyone, but as you know by now, social media platforms are preventing Palestine from trending. And you deserve to know the truth. And Palestinian deserve to be heard
If you support disabled people, please stand with us against Discord’s redesign.
...and do more than reblog this post about it.
Chronic migraines. Dyslexia. ADHD. Autism. Vision impairment. Visual sensory processing disorder. Colorblind. & Neurotypical. Abled.
These are aspects of people that are affected by Discord’s new update to its color scheme and font, and there very well could be more I didn’t mention. Yes, you read it right, abled people and neurotypical people too. You are not immune to eyestrain.
What are the issues?
A font which is both overly uniform and overly squished, with many letters that have essentially the same silhouette as others and could easily be flipped and look the same as another. ▻ This is dyslexic-unfriendly, as well as generally harder to read and an issue for people with visual impairments who may find that letters bleed together or that their eyes ‘skip’ over letters or words at times.
A color scheme that is so highly saturated that it both immediately draws your attention and also makes you want to immediately look away. ▻ This is generally unfriendly, affecting people with sensory issues the most (ADHD/Autism, migraines, processing disorders), but it’s also colorblind-unfriendly. Due to the differences between the colors being exclusively the part that changes the named color (hue; “green” vs “blue”) instead of both that and the colors being different intensities (saturation; “neon green” vs “leaf green”), they look practically identical.
Aren’t there more? No. This is pretty much all that was changed.
Discord changed TWO THINGS and pretty much managed to land every single person possible to genuinely hurt with a visual design change that doesn’t add or remove any elements. Including abled and neurotypical people!!!
Discord is currently a good number of people’s lifeline and way to connect with others. And with this change, they just made using their app hurt. They know that we can’t leave their app without leaving our friends and communities behind. They know that if they can just sweep this under the rug, they won’t have to do a thing.
...So we can’t let them.
Why would Discord do this?
It’s actually fairly simple. Discord was hemorrhaging money from its very conception. Discord only exists because investors think it’ll make money in the future. If Discord doesn’t do as well, investors will push to make it “better” or they’ll drop their funding. Discord was probably forced into this situation, they probably knew exactly what would happen.
We have to show their investors that Discord was right.
What can we do to fix this?

SPREAD THE WORD, TUMBLR! The Russian lgbtqa+ activist Yelena Grigoryeva was killed. She was a huge human rights proponent and lgbtqa+ activist, as well as an open bisexual. Don't let this murder go unnoticed by the worldwide lgbtqa+ community!!!

Please read it and reblog people have to hear about what happened today. There are videos of nationalists beating people (teenagers) just because they were walking nearby or throwing firecrackers. These are the people that our president was willing to go side by side during the independence day. We can't rely on the government doing something so please don't sleep on it, let prople know about things happening in Poland right now.

so disney is using emily gwen’s lesbian pride flag with no compensation, and she’s still in need of money. i implore anyone who cares at all about the lgbt community to donate to her instead of paying for fucking mickey mouse pins

So, India is dying.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.

People are dying.

People are dying and there is no plan.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.
❗️TIME SENSITIVE❗️
Hello 👋🏽 I am a physically disabled black woman, an artist, and the sole caretaker of my autistic brother.
Last year, our home was sold from underneath us after our father passed away and my brother and I were left with almost nothing, and nowhere to go. We lost everything. And since, have been struggling every single day to survive and keep a roof over our heads.
We are fighting the system for assistance for my brother, but have been denied twice despite full proof of the extent of disability.
They Do Not Want Us To Live.
But we don't want to give up. We're raising funds for housing so that we can keep trying to survive together. Black Disabled Lives Matter. We should be allowed the same tools to live as everyone else. So we ask for your help.
Please help us, share our GoFundMe, share our story, donate if you can. Help us keep a roof over our heads so that we can KEEP TRYING.
Thank you 🙏🏽💜

what’s happening in myanmar.
since the coup on 1 february, the military has become more and more violent, and it has turned the streets of myanmar a slaughter ground. unspeakable violence (the pictures i’ve been exposed to daily on my social media newsfeed are beyond heartbreaking and demoralizing — i can’t believe i’ve gotten so desensitized to seeing real-life sewn-up bodies and cut-off limbs). 71 innocent lives — that we know of — have been taken and over 1,700 people (as of now) have been unlawfully arrested and charged, including political leaders, activists, journalists and reporters, celebrities, and anti-coup protesters. the military terrorists wreak havoc in the streets at night, kidnap civilians, and return them in horrible, horrible conditions.
however, we will never yield. the more they try to beat us down, the stronger we will get back up. a lot of people around the country as well as myanmar citizens abroad are (peacefully) fighting back and resisting this cruel regime by spreading awareness online, participating in CDM, and protesting on the streets.
therefore, i would like to ask for donations towards organizations that are helping our civil disobedience movement (CDM) participants, frontline protestors, activists groups, as well as vulnerable people who are living in poverty and whose livelihoods are hit the hardest. just today, railway workers participating in the CDM movement are forced to pack up all their things in just two hours and leave the housings; these people are not just workers, they have families, young children, and elderly people with health issues, yet they all left with no hesitation to continue our fight for democracy.
so, friends and people from all corners of the world, if you have the financial means to, please consider helping and donating to our people who are risking their lives and their livelihoods to fight for basic human rights, freedom and democracy, not just for their own futures but for the future of many generations to come. please know that every single cent counts ! even just 1 usd (which is equivalent to about 1,400 mmk) is enough to fund for one meal in myanmar.
i know there are so many things going on in the world that need all our attention and support. what’s happening in myanmar is one of them! please consider donating and/or spreading awareness by boosting this post <3 thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart; your help is most deeply appreciated and you will always have my gratitude.
edit: i just found out that if you make posts with external links, the posts basically disappear from the tags. so, instead, i included screenshots with the websites where you can donate; they’re both trusted organizations but please dm me if you would like to have more information.

From Mexico to the World
Obrador's government is a rapist. Please don't let this go to a hole, help me making it viral, or something, someone out there has to see this, please.
Every day, 11 women are murdered in Mexico
The president approved a rapist as candidate for governor of the state of Guerrero.
The president raised a wall in front of the national palace, making of this a direct aggression towards women.
This government hates women and we cannot remain silent!!

This a call for help.
My partner and I both have a very hard time asking for help but we are in a situation now where we cannot go without it and we don’t have family we can rely on or turn to for help.
We are currently in danger of not being able to afford our food and our home.
I know many other people are in similar situations but if you can’t help by donating, please pass this along. 💕
About a year ago my partner sprained their ankle on the job and was not reimbursed for missed hours. They are still paying off the medical bills as am I. Because of this, my sweetie and I had to move in with some dear friends into, well- -basically an old college party house for the cheap. I love our roommates but our paychecks don’t align and the heat is currently shut off and it’s starting to get cold.
I was recently let go from a steady (read: insurance included)- but god awful- job for bringing up the need for diversity training in the workplace as well as equal treatment. They gathered up other reasons so they didn’t have to say this was the actual reason.
We are both freelance artists and between our art and side gigs the money doesn’t always add up- even though we each have more than three jobs. It’s very difficult to find jobs that are fair to non binary queers (my partner and I) and to poc (myself) where we live. The town is so focused on who you knooow. So much so that I recently had to start a group for queer and/or trans people of colour in town to build a community.
We finally found a new place to rent together that is reasonable for us and our two cute kitties. They raised the rent from what they originally quoted us after we applied and then neglected to mention a $500 pet fee until after receiving our deposit and days before our move. In the area we live, there is no way to find a less expensive place because of severe gentrification across the city and we have already given notice that we are moving out.
To add to the worries, my car has stopped working properly and it isn’t in drivable condition. So not only are we down to one car (whilst we each have three separate jobs) but we have to find a way to replace the other car before winter.
We have very little time to work this all out and even less due to constant working and awful doubles.
Please help us and our kitties stay afloat through this transition. Even $10 helps sooo much. My talented partner has offered to draw a rendering of your profile picture or other portraits if you donate $15 or more. Send it through Venmo and then send me a message that reads something like, “Draw me like one of your French girls”. With the name you use on Venmo.
We appreciate your support and love so much.
Queerly Yours,
B+B 💚

1st of February, 2021
i was debating on whether or not i should post this on tumblr but seeing as there haven’t been posts about this yet, here it is. i’m exposing my real location and nationality but it doesn’t matter.
if you have been active on twitter, you may already know #savemyanmar is trending. long story short, there has been a military coup. several nations have released statements but i want to share insight on what’s happening in the country.
memes about a coup have been circulating around for a couple days and when i slept at 2 am last night, we were still under the rule of the National League for Democracy (NLD). while they are not technically democratic, they are the closest we’ve got. when my mother woke up at 6 this morning, she was notified that the country was now under the rule of the military.
banks services are no longer available. wifi was cut at around 7-8. some people got wifi again earlier but many got it barely thirty minutes ago. this is bad for businesses especially ones that require international communications. additionally, international students like myself are experiencing anxiety; how do we pay for and attend classes if we’re not sure wifi is a given?
myanmar has a long, complicated history with military governments. the last time the military went into rule was in 1962 and only stopped in 2011, following the 2010 elections. there was a huge protest in 1988 lead by students that resulted in lots of death. during the military junta, resources like rice, water, oil, were scarce. the gist is military rule is bad for us.
all of my followers are not myanmar citizens, i’m sure but as part of the international community, please help us. here is a petition that you can sign (although i’m not sure if that can do much). there may be protests in front of myanmar embassies so look out for those. most of all, please help spread awareness.
the people here are coping with dark humor, primarily in the form of memes but we don’t know how long this rule will last, even though the official statement said only a year. here’s something that pretty much sums up our coping mechanism:

again, even a reblog helps
