The Fact That If Someone Posts A Link To A Tumblr Post In A Reply I Cannot Navigate To It Using The Tumblr
The fact that if someone posts a link to a tumblr post in a reply I cannot navigate to it using the tumblr app highlights the reason I hate apps replacing websites.
There’s nowhere in the tumblr app to enter a URL—your only option is to search up a user name and then try to find the post manually
If you copy-paste the link to a web browser like Firefox you get a login-prompt doorslam as soon as you scroll, even if you’re logged into the app.
You cannot easily click on a button from the webpage to load the post in the app
Even copy-pasting the URL is a PITA because the iOS tumblr app doesn’t actually let you select a portion of the text of a reply, only copy the whole thing to the clipboard.
I really hate the way apps break basic interface functionality that’s been standard for decades across different web browsers, to deliver content that is fundamentally just a webpage. @staff please fix this very annoying UI issue at least

TiL (click to go to the thread, which probably has more interesting tidbits I missed).
Bonus:

You know what? I don't want to change my VPN every six months cause it was caught selling information. I don't want to go deep into the settings of every website I so much as look at. I don't want my internet browsing to be a constant leap through hoops so that companies can't do things which should be illegal anyway. I want privacy to be the default and for it to be difficult to take it away, not the other way around. Is that too much to ask?
I thought I needed a new laptop but nope, youtube is slowing down your PC if you have adblock on on any open tab...

I’m so tired
Of seeing ads creep in
More and more
Everywhere
Things you paid for ad free? Ads now. Not just one—2 or more, some minutes long. Because someone realized they could charge more for no ads and still make money off you twice.
One more second at a time, one more webpage, one more surface, one more “maybe later,” more and more and more until i cant go two hours outside or online without having some kind of ad shoved in my face, choking out the presence of anything else, anything thats NOT an ad. Like an invasive weed. Capitalist kudzu
The thing is, they don’t even WORK. The more i see an mass-beamed ad I’m forced to watch the more i simply find myself hating whatever the ad is for. The more tone deaf, weird, gimmicky, or badly written it is the more i hate it. The more i never want to buy that thing simply so i don’t ever have to hear its name again.
Like this cant be good for us, right? Why is it ok to subject people to constant advertising? We aren’t made for this. When do we get to have regulations on advertising? At what point does the creep stop?
