Friday, February 9, 2018. QEW Hamilton Bound. A Rant. Another day stuck on a bus. Really hard to get photos when the camera wants to focus on the window grime, but this is becoming a huge pet peeve of mine: FIX YOUR HEADLIGHTS. First off, wipers on, lights on. If there is stuff coming out of the sky, lights on. I learned that when I was like, six years old. No excuses. I don't care if you can see, it helps others see YOU. ALWAYS LIGHTS ON. And learn that daytime running lights are useless because they don't activate your tail markers. Make yourself easier to see. Turn Your Lights On. Secondly, I'm counting about 1 in 30 cars with a not working headlight. And this is an ongoing tally, not just today. About one vehicle every 14 seconds. There's no reason for such gross negligence. If you want a car then you need to be able to afford to maintain it. Third, clear your damn roof, hood, windows, mirrors, bumper, lights, license plate, and truck bed covers. You're a menace to others by adding blowing snow trails, and I don't need a facefull of your entitled four-wheel negligance. Don't want to put effort into making sure other people won't get blinded by your blowing snow? Get off the road. This only works if we think about each other, look out for each other, and play by the rules. Step it up, stay safe, keep others alive.

December, 2017: St. Catherines to Hamilton corridor. Who is that idiot out riding around in the middle of winter?! That'd be me. Thanks to a quick stop at Dollarama and a few minutes with zip ties and E-tape, DraugGrim is now festive AND has hopefully increased visible mass for late night QEW commuting. I hate photos of self but I had some requests come in... So... Here we go for the record books. This was from the night of Thursday, December 14 after a late opening of Star Wars. Yes, that is a giant pile of plowed snow behind me. No, the snow wasn't on the roads. The main streets had been adequately cleared by that point. Yes, it can be cold. Heated clothing helps considerably. Waiting for the bus is colder. And costs four times as much. And makes the trip take twice as long. I'm having fun. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. Except maybe a Ridgeline. If someone has a spare. For the slushy days. Just sayin'... Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, and the best wishes to you and yours! Wednesday, September 13, 2017: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Hamilton, Ontario - Back in the winter I went to a motorcycle show up in Mississauga. There was a booth there collecting donations and selling merchandise to raise money for a LAV to be placed as an Afghanistan memorial up at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton. I just found out they got it! Swung over for some photos, what a machine. My thanks to all the Canadian Armed Forces members who serve, at home or abroad, you do us proud. Also photographed are memorial stones for Hamilton service members KIA. We will never forget.
