I finally made the meme I've had in my head for over a year
Okay I am from California and my coworker is from Florida and he insists our ocean water is absurdly cold and I think he's just being a pansy who's used to Caribbean waters. So help me settle this.
I'm asking mainly about like, when you imagine going to the beach, how do you imagine the water? Bonus points if you have been swimming in both CA and FL and can chime in on that debate.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

It‘s scary to see how very important european petitions get no visibility whatsoever. We had a basic income petition last year which failed because not enough people knew about it. Now we have a „tax the rich“ one that only lasts until october this year and only has around 250k out of 1 mio. signings.
Most EU people go through their every day life w/o knowing about them. There are no ads, no marketing…nothing. I know that costs money though one might think important petitions that lead to a better and progressive life would be supported by the government or ministries in some way, but nooooo
And why should they? It’s petitions that would help out the poor and middle class, but endanger capitalism and their exploitation, sooo: government and business leads for example.

I am slowly losing my mind over the shift towards video as the default media format.
I do not find this to be an efficient way to absorb information. I am bored and distracted by the time the largely unnecessary introduction is over. I can't use ctrl+f to find the specific information I'm looking for. If there are instructions to follow, I don't want to have to constantly pause and back up to the part I need.
At least give me a fucking transcript.
theres bikes around the city you can rent but you have to use an app that needs your drivers license. theres buses that drive right to your destination, but if you dont have change you need the app. you can wash your car here if you sign into the app. you can go to the bathroom here you just have to unlock it with the app that needs your location on. you can order at this restaurant if you scan the code and download the app. im losing my freaking mind
Tbh the amount of joy that comes from growing your own spring onions from the root ends of ones you buy is p much incalcuable. Infinite spring onion motherlode cheat. Every time I'm in lidl now i walk past the spring onions and laugh BC I've not needed to buy any in months

my unpopular opinion is that i hate tiktok because now people just publicly watch loud ass videos in public spaces with no regard for anyone else. 100% it was not this bad with youtube, it’s such a different thing with tiktok. put on headphones. you are grown.

I am fully in favor of culling highly invasive animals even if it personally makes me sad, but I am really freaked out by the hatred people show those animals and the absolute glee at the prospect of killing them.
I think you can cull invasive species while treating them with kindness and respect, and that means 1) killing them quickly and as painlessly as possible 2) trying not to waste their remains if at all possible, like the rising use of invasive fish in local restaurants and 3) remembering that every invasive animal, with the exception of domestic ones, is actually native somewhere.
My general rule is to ask yourself if the things you say about invasive bugs, fish, reptiles, etc are things you would ever say about feral cats, which are one of the most widespread invasive species in the world with massive impacts on native animal populations and ecosystems.
Tldr; just like. Be nice.

I feel an obligation to do my best not to let me followers fall into scams, so I will say the only thing that flags for me at the moment is that the person listed as the fundraiser organizer is not one of the people named in the family or mentioned anywhere else.
However, lots of people have already donated, the photos are consistent yet varied between the social media profiles and the GoFundMe, at least the Facebook profile is decently old (implying that it wasn't just made as a scam to take advantage of the crisis), and it seems like a good few other people trust this fundraiser.
May all Palestinian families escape, find safety, and someday be able to return to their land. ❤️
