This Is Very Interesting! I Personally Choose To Believe That The Redwall World Doesnt Have The Same

This is very interesting! I personally choose to believe that the Redwall world doesn’t have the same continents and countries and places as our world, but nevertheless this is such a fun frame to put it in.

Now I’m thinking about purposeful the lack of humans in the Redwall world and how that would effect the planet. Of course there are no horses in upper England… what, did they swim across?

land of ice and snow is canada #confirmed (there are no turtles in norway)

Great Mouse Detective/Redwall crossover idea in which Redwall takes place in medieval times and Basil mainly knows about them through legends, much like how we view King Arthur today.

He becomes obsessed with the idea that the legends are true and with finding the remains of the abbey

He asks Watson on a vacation with him and off they go to the country to search for the lost abbey of Redwall

Without knowing where to look, they start by asking the locals. They meet a community of shrews living on the bank of a river, and later a tribe of otters who call their leader Skipper. They both have a different story to tell about the legend of the abbey. They’ve definitely heard of it, but no one seems to know exactly where it is, until…

In classic Redwall fashion, they are led on meth hunt through the woods, following a series of riddles leading them to the Abbey. When they finally arrive, nothing is to be found.

They are about to give up, when, in a moment of frustration, Basil kicks at a tree stump. It gives a hollow think. After some careful examination with Basil’s magnifying glass, they find hinges buried beneath a layer of moss, and with that, a door, carefully concealed in the bark.

A long dark tunnel leads them through dirt and grime, deep beneath the earth until round the bend, a warm yellow light can be seen, and voices, full of laughter and welcome.

As it turns out, the moles have been digging out bits of the long buried abbey for years. Slowly rooms have been dug out and given new life. Beams that had long since turned to dust or been eaten by termites have been replaced and reinforced to hold the weight of the earth above. Air vents and chimney shafts went arching off from almost every window, and a series of water pipes were busy being fitted to be pumped in from the nearby river.

Slowly the Abbey was once again becoming a place of refuge for peaceful creatures to live in harmony. Under the care of the moles, there is life in the place once again.

Basil and Watson had come through a not long abandoned tunnel, through to what once was Cavern Hole. There, they are immediately offered hospitality and are fed a meal of the most delicious country fare a mouse could ask for.

Being from the city, Basil and Watson have never associated much with hedgehogs and moles and the like, but they find them to be the very best of company.

Idk about the actual plot, but eventually they have to go home. Basil misses his beloved London and the speed and rigor of city life, while Watson has a practice to attend to, but from then on, whenever a mouse or any other creature comes to them in need, to Redwall they are sent, for the doors will always be open to them

Anyway anyone else have any ideas? I just think the concept of Redwall being a legend past and Basil being obsessed with it is cool

This Lady Was The Subject Of Baby's First Fix-it Fic Back Before I Even Knew Fanfic Was A Thing. Kind

This lady was the subject of baby's first fix-it fic back before I even knew fanfic was a thing. Kind of ridiculous looking back, but even now I just really love minor characters. Decided to try my hand at drawing her again because Outcast is still living in my head rent-free, and even I'll admit my art's improved since I was a kid.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god

Headcanon adopted

Absolutely

so i was thinking…in Cluny’s introduction, BJ writes about rumors surrounding where Cluny came from–speculations that he’s “Portuguese” or “from the jungles far across the wide oceans.” Now, real places like Portugal are clearly no longer included in the Redwall mythos, but the thought persists–what if Cluny came from the Redwall-world equivalent of Brazil? That’s a jungle across the seas with Portuguese influence. This is a long-winded way of saying it would be cool if he were a woolly giant rat (Kunsia tomentosus), which are rather large black rats (well, they’re new world rats/cricetids so like…sort of) from Brazil and Bolivia. The main issue with this hc is that they have relatively short tails, about the same length as the average brown rat’s despite WGRs being larger overall. But I suppose that means Cluny would stand out especially among WGRs, which is good considering his reputation.

“Rosey”!! I really should be making this one

Hewwo! Baps Your Face Off! TODAY From The Big Book Of Redwall Cookin, We Have My Fuckin Favorite Recipe

Hewwo! baps your face off! TODAY from the big book of Redwall cookin’, we have my fuckin favorite recipe thus far; Rosey’s Jolly Raspberry Jelly Rock Cakes- The one that I’ve actually had ready to go for a few weeks now but I kept eating it too fast to take notes. Buckle into your buggies, hotshots.

(You can find the original recipe at the bottom if you’d like to follow along, and i plead you do)-

MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS

SO, “what goes in to a Jolly Raspberry Jelly Rock Cake?” YOU MIGHT ASK

All-purpose flour

Baking powder

Salt

Unsalted butter

Sugar

Eggs

Raspberry jam or jelly

Went to read this recipe and upon realizing i had every ingredient- from start to finish it took about an hour and half from deciding to make it to being able to eat it!

AND, “what does Jolly Raspberry Jelly Rock Cake taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASK

Excellence. Pure comfort. Food that heals bones and hearts. Food that laces up scars. Food you make for your lover in bed on a cold rainy day.

Not quite fluffy, but very soft, smooth center

Crumbly, again soft, outer

Tart raspberry jam is the crown jewel of the piece. Mwah. God.

Rich and refreshing

The sprinkled sugar comes out not overbearingly sweet

Do try to eat/serve these warm, they keep well, but the jam will start to absorb into the pastry

Most jam or fruit filling works here, as long as it has some tartness, the world is your oyster. Grab your oyster fork. Feel weird about having an oyster fork.

Like a molten lava cakes baby cousin-

. Used fine granulated sugar

. Used salted butter (and only a pinch of salt instead of tsp.)

. Used raspberry jam

. Served with goat cheese caramel lightly drizzled

. Bumping the cook time up from 15 to 17 minutes let the edges brown a bit more which I recommend I think in the future I would like to also try pairing this with slices of strawberry, or perhaps fresh raspberries placed on top? Its hard to spitball pairing ideas because Most Things would pair fair!!

Gentlethems of the Jury, we here at crossy wossys kitschy kitchy, welcome our very first 10/10

I so dearly need to communicate that I’ve had this art made for a good week now, I first baked this almost 2 weeks ago, and am just now getting around to writing the actual review. I like to have the food in my mouth to write about the flavor/mouthfeels section.  And I kept eating them too fast to take notes. I’ve used almost a whole bag of sugar making these on repeat and my teeth surely hate me but the heavens sneer enviously.

These fellas don’t seem rather persnickety- I think one would have to actively try to mess up the recipe in a way where its no longer delicious. These are essentially scones with more variety in textures and flavors! The aforementioned latest batch was made at 4am halfmindedly with multiple perceived mistakes, and the only difference from the first carefully attended-to batch was that they were slightly less pretty to look at, both being absolutely mouthwatering.

The low fussy-ness, low spoons (for me!), and delicious outcome that can pair with many drinks, makes this a flawless pastry in my eyes. a proud 10/10, with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.
