Yikes, I just finished reading ‘Hippolytus’ by Euripides…. This is the most intense thousands-of-years-old soap opera ever! Hippolytus is a complicated guy. He is an illegitimate child, has outright contempt for women (like, wishes you could exchange gold for offspring rather than have to deal with a woman), but loves Artemis (goddess of the hunt) and in turn he is her favourite mortal… Is essentially killed by his own father, via Poseidon, for a crime he didn’t actually commit, but graciously forgives his father before he dies… and that’s the end. Moral of the story? Aphrodite takes it very personally when one chooses celibacy.

Btw, an odyssey moment from my class that happened the other day:

My friend: so do you think the professor is gonna grade our work today or..?

Me: No clue, actually.

The professor in question: *sneezes*

My friend: OH GOD HE IS.

Ok,so hear is my epic headcanon for godgames. I think the reason Aphrodite calls attention to his mother specifically, is caused Aphrodite herself is a mother hurt by Odysseus. Since Odysseus by saking troy, made her own son Anease homeless.
