As I Said Before Ephemeral, The Whole Point Of The Episode Was Going To Be A Checkpointwhere Are Marinette
As I said before Ephemeral, the whole point of the episode was going to be a checkpointâŚwhere are Marinette and Adrien in terms of their development?
We learned that Marinette is not at the point where she can see Chat Noir for who he really is, nor is she completely ready to be vulnerable with her partner. The âidentity revealâ plan proves that, as well as her freakout upon learning his identity.
We learned that, while Adrien is starting to be more comfortable with himself, heâs still got a bit to go. He needs more confidence (and probably more information about potential senti-status) if he wants to stand up to his father for good.
Blind love walked them into Gabrielâs trap in Chat Blanc, but Ephemeral is the extra confirmation that it was never their love that destroyed the world. Ladybug is probably going to come out of it thinking that the identity reveal is the problem, but we still know the truth, especially now that itâs been hammered home again. The show is going to keep hammering it in. Itâs always Gabeâs fault.
And the reason we see it again this time? Because weâre still peeling back the layers and trying to uncover all the little secrets Gabriel has, and the true depth of control he has over Adrien. Weâre not done learning things about that yet.
Anyway, if anyone still thinks the reset made this episode pointless, I encourage you to rethink the way you view the storytelling in this show.

Because I have ADHD and am super awesome at hyper focusing.. đđ⌠I rewatched Felix and Mega Leech today just for senti signs I guess. Itâs interesting that Felix did the same hand raise in front of his mother to silence her when he was apologising for impersonating Adrien during that episode.

Itâs the same manoeuvre that Gabriel does to silence Adrien in Mega Leech when he is explaining why he was at the protest. But Gabriel didnât spin the ring until after Adrien had already gone to his room.

I still donât think that this show a sentimonster being controlled by itâs amok. Gabriel is controlling Adrien the same way he always has in this episode. The ring definitely represents something, but we donât know what yet. And we havenât seen Felix actually do anything yet with the ring he stole.

Iâve already covered this topic in my post about Emily hiding her true self, but imma say it again!
No, I donât think that Adrien is a sentimonster.
And hereâs why in a few points
â˘First if all, Adrien has his own mind and his own personality. Sentimonsters donât.
â˘Adrien does not ALWAYS obey his father. Hell get out as Cat Noir and break the rules to have more freedom. Sentimonsters HAVE to obey, they work like that. They donât have a mind of their own.
â˘Gabriel or Nathalie would have noticed it. Just like Nathalie felt the presence of Feast in the same episode.
â˘IF Adrien was a sentimonster, he would be dormant without a older, just like Feast. Now, Emily might be his holder, but since she died, he wouldnât be able to have a mind of his own since she doesnât control him anymore.
â˘About the ring. Adrien probably saw Gabriel play with his ring, and it reminded him of his lost mother. Thatâs why he let himself get akumatized, in the hope that he could see his mother again.
More proofs coming later.
okay i just genuinely need to know and i'm sorry if it comes across as salty
but why are people so disappointed that the reveal didn't happen and stick for real?
do people really think the characters is ready for a reveal? that the writers are prolonging it for funsies and not because the circumstances aren't right for it?
and do people really want the dynamic to change this drastically? do they not see that when the reveal does stick the show is never going to be the same?
and do they not like seeing all these scenarios? like if i am entirely honest i want to see all these reveals because i feel like once it's done it's done and i will be sad about not seeing any other possible situations and scenarios and confessions and shocks and how the environment/circumstances influence their actions
like i just don't get how people can be disappointed? i loved this reveal, yes, but it was NOT the right time and frankly there are so many other scenarios i want to see and i love getting a chance to explore them in the source material and not just in fanworks

the way Adrien stuttered like âYou want to reveal our identities right n-n-now?â and then his small hopeful smile after the transformation dropped and then the way he had no hard feelings whatsoever towards Ladybug for not wanting to reveal her own identity right away because he knows itâs terrifying and then the way he said âmy heart is beating so fastâł and âI hope youâre not too disappointedâ

Like compare his actual reaction to the reveal vs the time he said âif you saw me without my mask, you wouldnât be able to resist meâ Iâm crying heâs so sweet he just wants Ladybug to like him
okay i just watched ephermal in the french dub and i will not give anything major away butâŚ
i think it speaks volumes how chat wasnât available for one pretty standard, run-of-the-mill villain fight at the beginning of the episode, and ladybug still felt the need to bring out every single one of the current miraculous holders just to make up for his absence. she relies on him so much that she called him 14 times throughout the fight and pulled out all the stops just to feel comfortable enough facing a villain without him. if thatâs not reflective of how much she trusts chat noir i donât know what is.
