I Have Wanted To See A Tiger Beetle Larva My Entire Life, But Never Did Until @revretch Suddenly Spotted

I have wanted to see a tiger beetle larva my entire life, but never did until @revretch suddenly spotted one scurrying around by the river yesterday. They normally spend all their time hiding in a tunnel like a trap door spider, so I never thought I'd see one out and about in broad daylight! I recognized the big, flat head and the little hump on its back instantly!

Just noticed this diagram has it hunting a velvet ant....can they really do that? Are they THAT tough???

I also wasn't sure they could be raised easily, because I heard they're particular about the density and moisture level of the sand they tunnel into. What if it was running around because the sand wasn't quite right in that spot?! I scooped some up anyway, and I used a twig to poke holes in it, just to see if MAYBE it'd deem one a suitable house. The next morning I found it like you see in the following video, and I wondered if it felt comfortable enough to eat the way it does in the wild, so in the clip I also drop a pantry moth caterpillar into the jar:

New name: Whistler People! They're called such because humanity knows them for their sound-based technology that often whistles. I'm still working on them but just know I'll keep the mostly in the dark for now, and focus on their pets instead!
Here's a crude drawing of a Whistler Person with a generic pet Parvae on a leash.

I'm putting acid rain and normal rain and low gravity in the Headsplitter world so I can make the sophonts there giant mollusk-proxies and I was gonna call them the Cascadians but that's way too cool. One day I'll come up with something boring instead.
Hello ... I would like you to help spread my new account. I previously lost my account, which I can no longer use due to the fraud I was exposed to while requesting to withdraw money from someone outside the country because we are not allowed to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and the difficulty of the Gofoundme website policy. All the money that was donated to me was returned and I can no longer benefit from it. This is the link to the deleted website (https://gofund.me/23f6654d).

I hope you will stop spreading this link and help spread my new campaign. I was not lucky, so I did it again with determination and not despair by creating another account. Perhaps luck will be on my side and I will be able to escape the pain and torment of the war that I and my family are living 💔 I ask you with all confidence to support my new account so that I can spread hope in myself and my family. This is the new link {https://gofund.me/e6a1e1e9}🌹

Fun fact: they actually move without joints! Their legs are powered via hydraulics, and they move by retracting and stretching out the different feet with liquid, much like a sea star! Think of it like this:

(Image ID: Multiple shots of a sea star using its thousands of tube feet to traverse a rocky seabed. End ID
