Btw I don’t know if I came up with this or saw someone else say it, but I use both Jiang and Smith for Kai and Nya because I hc that they went by Smith for most of their childhoods (bc their family is blacksmiths) but when they reunited with their parents in s7 they were like “Our last name is Jiang?? How did you not know that????” And the answer is that none of their neighbors thought to make sure these kids knew their family name so they just kinda made one up lmao. Anyway, by then they were pretty attached and Nya definitely got some degrees and/or certifications with “Nya Smith” on it so both her and Kai decide to just use both

When you realize that maybe liking wearing a helmet this much is probably not the most neurotypical thing and enjoying it so much when people think you’re a guy and use he/him when you’re in this set of armor is maybe not the most cis thing to do and then you rethink life and HUH and now you don’t know what to do and oh dear this cardboard armor is the closest thing you have to experimenting with gender presentation bc it hides long hair and curves

this is genuinely so interesting to me.

With the fannon interpretations I find it interesting to look at this idea of a mandalorian nuclear family and then look at mando’a which cares so little for gender. (As in, there are two gendered words that I know of and in one context one of the two can be gender neutral)

I dearly hope that one day that female mandalorians who are more old cannon tradtional appear sometime. It intrigues me to see differences in different groups of mandos
