Ruusaan's Ramblings

A lover of all things star wars, mandalorian, steampunk, and more, I'm here to share my nerdiness with fellow nerds. My current main project is drawing a mandalorian every day for the year of 2023. ~ I also cosplay, write, craft, and make my own cardboard armor.

Watching Star Wars Right Now Is Getting Excited Over Pretty Costumes And Loving Characters And All Those

watching star wars right now is getting excited over pretty costumes and loving characters and all those silly little droids. and it’s also knowing that some of the same people watching with you and rooting for the fall of the empire, were they to actually exist in that galaxy would argue that the empire bombing mandalore was an acceptable self defense move. just the destruction of an armed populace that allied itself with terrorists. because that’s what the rebel alliance was called by the empire.

star wars is a dystopia.

I just want to be a Mandalorian sitting around a campfire with fellow mandos singing old songs until finally most everyone turns in for the night and it’s just me and the close friend at my back who is also on first watch and we guard the camp silently, comfortable in one another’s presence until it’s time for second watch and I curl up in my bedroll and fall asleep until I’m woken by the smell of breakfast and the laughter of my fellows who are morning people. The sun shines bright in the morning on this planet we recently arrived on and I keep my helmet on to protect myself from the small insects that occasionally try to take advantage of us visitors. We spar a little, then go to explore, and that old friend is with me once again. I watch their back as they take point, mapping equipment in one hand and blaster in the other.

I love designing androgynous mandalorian armor. It kind of is anyway but like. Really leaning into it.

If I see another SW fan call Din Djarin a himbo, I will flip a table.

He canonically knows several languages.

The show went to lengths to show how he is both clever and resourceful, time and time again.

He seems to be able to fly any number of ships and operate any number of weapons, which would require extensive expertise.

He is a capable navigator and strategist.

He's an engineering nerd.

He has been through comprehensive and intense training under the tutelage of The Watch.

He is respected in his craft; like--people recommend him for his work. He is adept at what he does; whatever the job may come to require.

He is well-versed in many survival skills. We see him cook, hunt, and see evidence that he repairs clothing.

Man is a Jack-of-all-trades. He wants to take up crocheting? He can. He wants to lean an instrument? He can. He could learn to do anything.

rewatching the original trilogy after reading lost stars is wild because ciena mentions how the empire is rapidly promoting people after the losses of the death star meanwhile vader goes through like three admirals in empire alone just bc they piss him off lmfaoo

I regularly get told that experiences are better than things and buying expensive things is silly, but as a cosplayer the thing is the experience.

I love dressing up I love going places dressed up I love sharing a little slice of nerdiness with the public.

Also as someone who struggles with being tired a lot and social anxiety, sometimes wearing a costume and knowing it’ll leave a positive impact is the thing that gets me to actually get up and go.
