Mando'a lesson
"Re-e-e-x, tell me something about the Mandalore"
"I- Alright, that's what I heard from Cody and he heard it from elders-"
Clones teaching Ahsoka (and other shinies) some Mando'a and telling about Mandalore? It was on my mind for a looooong time
Closeups:
I think one of the things that helps explain Satine's slightly baffling 'the Republic should stop fighting this stupid war' take is that she does not know the things that the audience knows.
Nobody told her about the Blue Shadow Virus, the carpet bombing of civilian homes on Ryloth, the Defoliator on Maridun, the attacking of hospitals, and so on.
She just knows that there's a war happening, and that it's killing a whole lot of people for reasons that, as far as she or anyone else has been told, are mostly just about someone wanting to secede. She knows that places are getting invaded, but logically, this is something that should be handled by diplomatic channels.
And the thing is, if everyone was arguing in good faith (e.g. if all the Separatists were working from the same angle as Mina Bonteri), then she'd be right! But the war is being run by Sith Lords and war profiteers, and while Satine is used to people wanting war for the sake of war, she's managed to talk people into not doing that before, so it should be easy for large senates of the Republic and CIS's nature to make it work too.
This war could have been an email.
Unfortunately, there are Sith, and there is large scale biological warfare that implies attempted genocide, and there is pillaging of captured planets, and so on. But nobody told her that, because if they shared that information publicly, then things would go even more wildly out of hand,* and so she's just like "wow, this war is stupid as hell. Maybe you should stop killing people and talk it out, because that's politics. You know, your job?"
So all that, but exaggerated to the point of secondhand embarrassment, because it's an animated series intended for an audience of twelve-year-old boys.
*Palpatine benefits from pushing for the Jedi to see the war as necessary, but the civilians to see it as bullshit, and so he definitely errs on the side of keeping the Seppie war crimes a secret from the public, which includes politicians that are not part of the Republic Senate/Loyalists.
GUYS- I think I cracked the code! I think I know how Bo-Katan is gonna appear in The Bad Batch and how it ties into the Mandalorian Purgeš³
Iāll put it below because itās kinda longš
So, I was picking apart The Bad Batch trailers (as crazy people like me do) and I was trying to figure out what planet this was:
I was thinking it might be Alderaan, but thereās not really a big motive for the Empire (or the Republic) to occupy Alderaan. For all they knew, Bail Organa was compliant like every other senator. If they were suspicious, they would have done something much sooner than 0BBY.
So, what other planets have snow, tall trees, mountains, and frozen-over lakes? KROWNEST!
We saw in Star Wars Rebels that Clan Wren lived on Krownest and they were led by Ursa Wren, who made a brief appearance alongside Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars season 7.
If this part of The Bad Batch takes place after the Empire was formed, then it would make sense for TBB alongside the Imperials to try to occupy Mandalore and other Mandalorian planets. If you think about it, Mandalore is perfect to try to occupy because they were under new leadership (Bo-Katan, who was inexperienced with leading an entire planet or a system of planets), they were previously neutral in the Clone Wars, and Mandalorians are notoriously dangerous people to be against and they would be valuable allies. Then I remembered that there was a leak of the description for a Hasbro Bo-Katan black series action figure. The description says that āshe refused to align with the Empireās occupation of Mandaloreā and that the action figure was a replica of her from The Bad Batch show...
So if she refused to join the Empire, maybe thatās the cause of the Mandalorian Purge. Bo even said she fought in the Purge. Itās been mentioned several times in The Mandalorian, but weāve never gotten a time frame or many details. We do know that the Purge was at the Empireās hands, though.
But what does that have to do with The Bad Batch? Okay, I think TBB was sent to help the Imperials occupy Krownest, but Bo-Katan resisted, resulting in the Mandalorian Purge. As we know, Jango Fet, the clone template, was a Mandalorian foundling. Itās widely accepted that the clones speak Mandoāa, so is it bold to assume they have loyalties to Mandalore? Maybe TBB decided to aid the Mandalorians on Krownest and fight on their side. However, we know that the Mandalorians lost to the Empire, and maybe this is how TBB diesš
The Mandalorians lose, Krownest is occupied by the Empire, Ursa Wren makes a deal with them, and Tristan Wren goes on to be a Mandalorian who serves the Empire (as Fenn Rau calls them). Perhaps Bo-Katan leaves before the Empire can catch her, running away with Clan Kryze and surviving. This might also explain how Bo-Katan referred to Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian. When explaining the plan, Bo says āKoska, Fennec, Dune, myself, disembark...ā She uses Koska and Fennecās first names but she calls Cara by her last name. We know that she is close with Koska, which explains why she calls her by her first name, but she must be familiar with Fennec as well. Fennec is gonna be in The Bad Batch so maybe theyāll interact with one another.
If youāre still reading, what did you think? Iād love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or constructive criticism!
May the Force be with you!
Just thinking about how they were essentially promoted and demoted within a few days
Iād just like to remind everyone that Ursa Wren was in The Clone Wars season 7 and she was the one Ahsoka bumped into, not Bo-Katan.
Bonus:
If I donāt find out what happened to Clan Wren and Fenn Rau, Iām gonna be very mad at Jon Favereauš©
Fuck it, Star Wars antagonists in the sewer systemsāØ
Star Wars protagonists in the sewer systemsāØ
No because this is very accurate and almost nobody in the fandom wants to talk about this...
Amazing work OP <3
youā¦ really have to hand it to Maulās nearly suicidal hubris.
first just the tunnel vision and arrogance of thinking he could entice Obi-Wan to come at all? like, the entire Clone Wars are coming to a head. Satine is already dead so he has no personal leverage anymore. Mandalore as a neutral planet is completely strategically irrelevant and the Republic military couldnāt legally land there (EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO AND THEY DONāT). Grievous is still out there. Dooku is still out there. theyāre in the middle of the Outer Rim Sieges. what about the man is busy is he not getting??
Maul is like the MOST MINOR bad thing on the mile-long list of bad things Obi-Wan is dealing with.Ā
AND THENĀ
thinking that Obi-Wan coming would be ANY KIND OF A WINĀ FOR HIM
Maul lost to Obi-Wan as a padawan, and since then Obi-Wan has spent ten years training and fighting every single day while Maul has spent ten years going insane and eating garbage.Ā he and Savage TOGETHER couldnāt even take Obi-Wan ON HIS OWN. TWO ON ONE and Maul still couldnāt trap and kill Obi-Wan. it took him in collusion with an entire planet PLUS the whole galactic underworld to get Obi-Wan trapped on Mandalore the first time, and Obi-Wan STILL got away.Ā
Ahsoka, a seventeen-year-old, punted him through a window and, unarmed, took his own lightsaber out of his hands. and he originally wanted Obi-Wan to come to Mandalore, BRING HIS ARMY, AND BRING HIS APPRENTICE, who Maul knows is so powerful that Sidious has spent TEN YEARS meticulously grooming him as the final endgame Sith minion.
i genuinely cannot imagine how exactly Maul expected this to go down. itās got to be a product of his clearly deteriorating sanity. he couldnāt have had any concept of what he was asking for.Ā like whatās the thought process?Ā
sure, iāll fight Obi-Wan Kenobi (who i have never once defeated one-on-one) and his unstable six foot Sith-influenced murder machine best friend in a two-vs-one death match. no problem! its not like iāve ever won a duel in my life or anything!!
i hope somebody writes this AU because iĀ desperately want to see it now.
AYOOOOO?!?!??!
Kevin McKidd supposedly on the set of The Mandalorian season 3??
Could it be?? Live-action Fenn Rau?!??!?!!
Or am I getting my hopes up? :(
ā¦yeahā¦probably the latter
OKAY WAIT
Maul was trying to lure Obi-Wan to Mandalore right??? And based on the concept art for this episode, we know that Captain Vaughn is just a reskinned version of Commander Cody
So, what if part of Maulās plan was to lure Kenobi to Mandalore, make him and Cody chase the Mandalorians into the sewer, and then have the Mandalorians take out Cody so that Obi-Wan loses someone he cares for again before ambushing him
Like, the Mandalorians made sure that Captain Vaughnās body was in a place Ahsoka would find right away. What if they only had a basic description of what commander Cody looked like (visor on the helmet, antenna on the shoulder) so they killed Captain Vaughn thinking it was Cody and left him out in the open for who they thought was Obi-Wan to find because thatās what Maul told them to do
finished version of this wip ! I will forever be weak for Obi Wan with a mandalorian armor
I'd love to see someone draw this! Though I think Obi-wan's experience with Mandalorian foods might help him.
You know the hot ones series, with the sauces. I want us to consider something, which is how fundamentally hilarious it would be for Anakin and Obi-Wan to go on this series. I want you to imagine this, the funniest war propaganda they ever think of. Obi-Wan is red in the face, crying choking hoarse. But itās like. Bottle four. Meanwhile, Anakin grew up in a culture where spice was used not only as flavor, but also a preservative. Heās had curries that would make the inexperienced hallucinate. He coughs once to clear his throat when they get to āda bombā, but then keeps talking. Obi-Wan is using all his Jedi reserve not to scream, and this man licks his fingers and is like :) Iāll take another
I want Korkie to hold the Darksaber at one point (grabbing it to hand it to Bo before she lost it?) and he suddenly sees Dead Mand'alor'e
This is certainly not a new take. but I really do think Din Djarin will be the key to Mandaloreās revival and will be the āMythosaurā the Armorer spoke of in legend. Especially compared to Satine and Bo Katanās previous attempts to lead.
Satine understood peace and stability was needed for Mandalore (after witnessing the Mandalorian civil war which more than likely influenced her pacifist ideals), however she tried to force change way too quickly and in a frankly horrible way as brought up in this post. She thought eradicating the Mandalorian warrior traditions and identity would help lead to peace, but instead it fractured the Mandalorians as a people and tore it apart from the inside out allowing someone like Maul to take control.
Bo Katan understands the importance of Mandalorian identity and heritage as warriors, but all that she really knows is war. A confession she herself made to Ahsoka in the Season 7 TCW finale. Another thing that breeds trouble is her disrespect for certain Mandalorian sects and backgrounds which makes further unity under her much harder. Yes sheās a great warrior, butĀ to unite and lead a people in the long run takes so much more than just being good at fighting.
Din however, brings both of these ideals together and possesses a trait that stands out from the Mandalorians of the past and even present: Meekness and humility.
Heāll often find ways to settle issues peacefully and take time to negotiate instead of being so quick to shoot.
But will fight and do it well if he needs to whether to defend himself or someone else like Grogu.
He takes time to understand others, their culture, backgrounds, and shows respect towards them.
Is not power hungry in the slightest, having no interest to rule or have any sort of power over anyone even when the opportunity arises.
Even in the frankly controversial scene in TBOBF, it was yet another element of proof that Din is deserving of the Mandāalor title. Iāve seen people suggest that Din shouldāve disowned the coven and more traditional Mandalorian ways in response, but honestlyā¦ Thatās something Bo Katan would do. Instead of being defensive and angry, Din practiced humility andĀ accepted the consequences of removing his helmet. A further step being that he intends to regain his title as a Mandalorian by doing it the traditional Mandalorian way, showing he doesnāt think himself above consequence or the Mandalorian code and traditions.
In a way, he embodies what both Satine and Bo Katan hoped to achieve but struggle to do so. He respects The Way and being a warrior is ingrained with who he is, but also takes time to negotiate and understand others around him. To me at least, I think this is what ultimately makes Din the leader Mandalore needs that Satine and Bo Katan cannot and have not been able to fulfill.Ā
BABY YODA IS COMING TO BUILD A BEAR!
You guys!! Finally. Baby Yoda is coming to a build a bear store near you. Look how cute and cuddly he looks!! They haven't given a date just yet, as far as I'm aware but they said pretty soon!

Headcanon: Canderousās nickname is āCandyā
Thatās definitely been joked about already considering the gameās age, but screw it, let a new fan have his fun
i was scrolling through the mandoāa dictionary and found this phrase. i think itās a perfect fit for season two of the mandalorion. if this is said to Din i think iāll actually burst out into tears.
