i've spoken before on raven and darling and how they're such good foils to each other, but i really, really just want to emphasize this scene right here because it makes me LOSE it.

(also please don't mind maddie and her expressions)

i personally love the way darling looks at raven in the first panel, because you can see her confusion there. everyone knows that apple and raven are best friends forever despite all their differences, and everyone knows just how much apple and raven care for each other, and how they would do anything for each other.

but i really love how this is framed because you can see darling looking at the way raven looks at apple; with so much longing, with so much sorrow, so much hurt, and so much love, and you can just see it click for her in the next panel.

the way she's questioning it at first, the way she's thinking for a second that that is not the way you would look at someone who's 'just a friend'.

and then the resignation and the sadness in the next moment, where i think darling realizes 'oh, we're both in the same boat; we're both in love with apple white'.

and i love that look of mixed pity and camaraderie; that look that shows that darling knows what raven's going through and what she's feeling (even if raven herself may not understand it right now) because she's also in love with apple.

of course there's just plain sadness because she feels bad for raven, whose best friend is currently in her magical coma, and it makes sense why she would sympathize with raven for that.

but i personally like to see it in the light that darling's heart is torn realizing that they're both stuck here, next to the girl they love, a love that will probably remain unrequited because (at this point yk) daring's supposed to be apple's prince, and apple herself will never know about how they feel, and apple will never return either of their feelings.

to cut it short, it's darling looking at raven looking at apple and thinking "oh my god i thought i was the only gay bitch in love with apple white".

I like rapple as a doomed relationship, i like rapple in a unrequited matter, I like rapple in a angsty Matter.

Simply because i love how in show and books they feed us 90% Angst and 10% fluff, I don’t ship rapple in a mutual romance because i personally think they don’t work and i find it hard to ship two characters if the feeling never feels like working in a mutual matter. BUT THATS ALSO WHY I LOVE THEM! they are so toxic, They aren’t meant for each other and it makes it so fucking angsty and delicious.

It just makes it 100% better when Apple starts crushing on her FUTURE enemy because GOD it’s evidential, it’s written everywhere, the whole “i want you to sign” vs “i don’t want to sign” is literally a metaphor of Apple wanting to be with raven while raven doesn’t want to be with her.

It just makes it better when apple has DREAMT of a future with raven, It just makes it better how Apple is always conflicted between destiny and her personal feelings when it comes down to raven but none of her other friends IT JUST MAKES IT BETTER!

And then there’s raven who Straight off gives Apple the same treatment she gives all her friends, it’s like How raven had saved Apple many of times she has done it to many of her friends as well(Mainly Maddie) add to ravens obvious liking towards dexter.

It makes it so better how every time Raven is just like “You are a great friend” APPLE IS JUST SUFFOCATING INSIDE!

UNREQUITED RAPPLE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED BY ME! BECAUSE I LOVE HOW DESPITE RAVENS FEELINGS NOT GOING AS FAR AS THAT EVEN AT THE BEGINNING SHE TREATED APPLE LIKE ANY OF HER OTHER FRIENDS!

SHE BASICALLY SAYS THAT APPLE IS SOMEONE SPECIAL TO HER!

EVEN WHEN THEY ARE BOTH SPECIAL TO EACH OTHER IN DIFFERENT LEVELS OF FEELINGS!

You can tell Shuro can’t actually handle Falin bc the moment he heard about the black magic he threw a fit. Like oh, you wouldn’t throw away your soul to bring her back? You wouldn’t commit unspeakable atrocities for her? Grow up.
