i am wondering what is your favorite thing you have ever written? (fic or not fic if you wanna venture out.) what about it stands out as the best, in your opinion?

MERRY ASK-MAS! I keep waffling over what my favorite thing I’ve written is. I know that my fics get more nuanced and better the more I write (which is true, practice makes it better!), and I do love all of my fics for multitudes of reasons. But I keep going back to (Blank) For the Holidays as my favorite thing I’ve written.

I love Yoongi. I love writing Yoongi especially as the kind, thoughtful, considerate man he is, and I love the friendship between the BTS members - this one was the first time I wrote the entire group together. This story also holds a special place in my heart 2 years later (side note WHAT DO YOU MEAN it’s been 2 years?!) because I am such a sucker for rom coms and cheesy holiday movies, and while it has my usual angsty bits it also has a sweet message about what the word family actually means. I love when they all rag on Yoongi when he introduces the OC to them in their own way, where there is this sense of warmth that comes from a group knowing each other for such a long time. Getting their friendship right was very important to me. I really wanted to explore the notion of found family, and what that means during a time that can be so isolating for so many people. And while looking back there are definitely things I wish I would have expanded on and/or edited, I still get that warm fuzzy feeling when I read it. If there is anything to take away from this story is that domestic Yoongi is always top tier, and while you can’t choose the family you are born into you can ultimately choose the family you live with.

Thank you so much for your question! I honestly sat here for like a half hour trying to a) determine which fic was my favorite and b) not write a whole thesis paper about it (results may vary on that one though 🤣🤣)

Hi, it’s me, the complete DUMBASS who thought I had recommended this fic like 2 years ago. But it turns out I haven’t and that is an actual crime. Because this is one of my favorite fics on this hell site, and I have thought about it quite often since I read it. This story is one I have gone back to several times since the first time it graced my screen.

I relate to this OC a lot. The worrying about how my awkward interactions come across, the trying to build myself up alone till I let those walls down. I also love this Hoseok. He is definitely the bright sunshine we all know and love, but there is such a depth to him, and I can only dream of having a partner so understanding and compassionate. When she tells him he shines, that is the actual truth. Hoseok, in this fic as well as in real life, shines. And you captured that SO WELL when writing this. I adored seeing their friendship develop and the path toward a relationship grow so naturally.

Also this might be one of my favorite series of lines anyone has ever written, like oh my god 🤣🤣🤣

“Hurt him, and I will kill you,” he says matter-of-factly.

“That’s a little dramatic.”

“Hurt him and I will steal your doormat.”

Yeah, that sounds more reasonable. If you hurt Hoseok, you’ll deserve to get your doormat stolen.

Just….gaaaah. Good writing, compelling characters, it just all feels so real and alive. I’m just mad at my brain for not reblogging and commenting earlier lololol

And then, your new neighbor who has the most beautiful smile you’ve ever seen needs to borrow a corkscrew, and you don’t realize it just yet, but your resolve doesn’t stand a chance.

A/N: Woohoo, first work in this fandom! This is actually the longest one-shot I’ve ever written (by my standards it’s LONG). Enjoy!

He doesn’t beg you to stay. He doesn’t tell you that “it’s not what you think”, doesn’t tell you that “it didn’t mean anything”, doesn’t ask for your forgiveness, doesn’t tell you that the two of you can work it out, that you can get through this together.

Instead, he tells you that he loves her, and when your entire world shatters in front of you, there is nothing you can do. You are completely and utterly alone.

When you first meet Jung Hoseok, he’s coming out of his apartment right as you’re getting into yours. He looks a little startled at first, but then he smiles at you, and you just stare.

You’ve never been good at interacting with people, especially strangers, especially when you’re not expecting it. You have to prepare yourself for those things, and right now, you’re very much not.

“Oh,” you say, looking at him.

The thing is, you recognize him — sort of. You’ve seen him around the building, and you immediately noticed him. You think it would have been impossible not to, frankly. You have ever seen someone who shines as bright as he does.

There is no other word for it. Hoseok shines.

It’s everything about him, and nothing at the same time. It’s his bright smile, first and foremost, and the way his brown eyes sparkle. It doesn’t hurt that he looks the way he does, all tall and thin and muscular, carrying himself like a dancer, but it’s his smile that you can’t get out of your mind. You’ve barely seen it, he gave you a quick, polite one when you passed him by in the parking lot, and yet you’ve thought about it more than you should have.

You’re surprised to see him here, though. You’ve been here for a month now, and you had never met the person who lived right next to you. You certainly never even considered that it could be the man with the bright smile and kind eyes you saw around, though the laugh you got used to hearing through the walls certainly completes that picture beautifully.

His smile widens a little, and he has a silent chuckle at your reaction.

“Hi,” he says.

You nod. You forget to reply, or to smile back, and you only realize that after you’ve closed your door behind you and Hoseok is already in the elevator.

You decide, firmly, to push that encounter out of your mind and to forget it ever happened.

If we’re talking about fics in general, I absolutely cannot get over how wonderful Love Bytes by @stutterfly is. This fic is my Roman Empire. I am a sucker for friends to lover stories, and I can’t tell you how many times I have read and reread this fic over the years. The way they write friendships, dialogue, and building relationships is something I still aspire to do myself to this day. There’s a reason I not only recommend this story to everyone I know, but is also the very first fic I ever recommended on my tumblr page (back before I knew how to reblog with comments 😬😬😬).

But if we’re just talking about MY fics, I just waxed poetic about (Blank) for the Holidays in a different ask, so let me talk about another one of my other favorites I’ve written, The Season.

The Season is just a good simple romantic story, and I believe it’s where I really started to find my stride. Jin is basically a prince, the OC learns how to just let go and live life, it’s definitely self indulgent in that I would absolutely watch this if it was a film and just swoon over it lolol. I had struggled with writing it, even putting it on the back burner for a couple months, because for the longest time I could not figure out how to write Jin and the world he is living in. He is such a nuanced man, in that he can be both confident in every sense of the word and shy about who he is enough to joke about it. I like to think I found that balance in this fic. Fun fact - originally I had plotted an epilogue to go at the end of The Season that takes place 3 years later, but decided it didn’t need it. Maybe I’ll visit that again some day - I adore these characters 😊
