it was the middle of the night. you’d been sleeping peacefully until your boyfriend decided to wake you up and drag you out of bed on the pretext of ‘star gazing’. far too tired to keep your eyes open for even a second, you refused to join him. it was an unreasonable demand and your sleep was quite precious to you. but soobin whined and persisted. he was having trouble falling asleep and he was getting bored of having to remain awake in solitude. all he asked was that you give him some company, come and sit by the pool with him. after bargaining that he’d allow you to sleep on his lap, you agreed and followed him outside.

the night sky was devoid of any stars much to soobin’s dismay. the air was oddly warm, filled with the sound of crickets chirping. soobin sat down by the pool, dipping his feet into the water. he held his hand out to you, motioning for you to do the same. once your feet were in the cool water, he wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you into his side. you immediately closed your eyes, falling back asleep in a matter of seconds.

minutes after you’d shut your eyes, you felt a blast of chilly water engulf your entire body. shooting awake you frantically scrambled around. amidst your chaos, something latched under your arms, yanking you upwards. it was only until your head came up from under the water did you then realise that soobin had pushed you into the pool. now, he was holding you up with his legs, laughing hysterically.

“soobin what the heck!”, you shouted, coming up to the pool’s edge. soobin continued wheezing in delight, clapping his hands while you shot daggers at him. “that was so funny! the way you didn’t even realise until like thirty seconds later.” he cackled as he recollected the sight.

pissed, you scowled at him and grabbed his leg, pulling him down into the pool with you. soobin emerged from the water, wiping his face, completely stunned. he looked at you, shocked expression morphing into a playful one. before you knew it, soobin pulled your body down into the water, twirling your around before bringing you back up again. he giggled as you wiped the water out of your eyes. “you are so gonna pay for that.”

soobin held his hands up defensively at your warning, quickly wading away from you. with your fatigue long gone, you bolted after him, the sounds of his cries of protest and your evil taunts filling the air of the night.
