a.k.a a pointless analogical drabble written at 12 am Because when Virgil was drowning, Logan would always come to lift him to the surface. If he were burning, Logan came to carry him out of the sunlight, to heal his burns. Virgil lived in a constant swirl of anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, showers that stung, headaches, it was always so much, always too much. No matter what, Logan listened to him when he was venting, overwhelmed. When his breaths were shallow, his thoughts running, his heart racing, Logan grounded him, breathed with him. When unwelcome thoughts plagued him, Logan was there to be the voice of reason, to talk him through those thoughts, to rationalize the situation. When Virgil felt the urge to start cutting again, Logan held him close, kissing him, promising that every single part of him was perfect. When his friends had issues bigger than Virgil could fix, Logan always held him in his lap, reminding him softly that he couldn’t save everyone, he couldn’t always have the emotional capacity for others, that he was already doing his best and Logan was so, so, so proud of him. Truly, in Logan’s eyes, Virgil was the loveliest, most ethereal, most precious thing in the universe, brighter than every star in the sky combined.

They were two like souls, two humans with the stardust from the same dead star in their veins, the string of fate binding them together. They breathed in the same rhythm, blinked in the same rhythm, their hearts beat in the same measure. They were like a chessboard, Virgil as the white squares, Logan as the black. They fit together perfectly; you could hardly have one without the other. 

Virgil contemplated these things, as he rested his head on Logan’s chest, his arms wrapped around him, a soft comforter covering them, feeling the gentle rise and fall of Logan’s chest. Here, he was safe.

As Logan woke up in the middle of the night, cuddling Virgil, his heart shined, filled with love to the brim. He wasn’t sure if his chest could hold all his love. They fit together like puzzle pieces, like their fingers intertwined. There was so much, so much, so much, but always, when the sun was shining too brightly for them to see, burning their skin, they had each other to be their sunset.

What a coincidence that I uploaded this a day before the incorrect quote video, am I right?
