Like yes there are the positive changes. He's gained weight, gained muscles, has healthier eating habits, he sleeps, has a schedule and everything, makes sure they all get daily sun time. In general he's just free and unburdened and healthy.

...and then there's the other stuff.

Like everytime something goes wrong or there's a weird noise he'll freeze up with a thousand yard stare and then hiss out "Mugiwara-ya". He refuses to tell anyone his plan past what needs to be done RIGHT THIS SECOND. He keeps calling the walls Nico-ya and asking them things. If there is a pile of unidentified scrap Law will stay as far away from it as physically possible, it's to the point he's walking with his back glued to the wall. There are three different locks and a number combination on the fridge now?! He keeps glancing at the floor, as if he expects to trip over someone. They've all started making unnecessary noise as they work because Law will stalk through the Tang muttering about how it's too quiet. Throwing out food is a crime now and Satan himself will come to beat you if you throw anything out, even if it's starting to mold. He keeps humming sea shanties?

And a myriad of other defensive quirks he's picked up while he's been away.

Doflamingo canonically says that he would kill anyone who so much as nicked Corazón, but I’m stuck thinking about what Rosinante would do if the situation were reversed. Something like Corazón watching as some pirate is about to shove a knife into Doflamingo’s back mid-battle.

Rosinante shouldn’t stop the enemy. He should allow that blade to slip in between his brother’s ribs, should allow someone else to do what he hasn’t been able to. What he knows he should do.

Corazón does not do what he should do. As a marine, Rosinante has surely killed pirates— he shouldn’t give it a second thought. In this instance, the fact that he doesn’t think twice troubles him. Because here he is, pulling the pirate back, yanking the knife from his shocked hands and returning it to sender, over and over again. Until his shaking hands are red with the proof of what he has done, and he feels Doflamingo’s proud, wide, sharp grin boring into the back of his head.

Doflamingo tells Rosinante that he is grateful to have an equal to stand back to back with him— against the world. Says, let’s go home, Corazón. Like what just happened wasn’t something that Doflamingo allowed to happen. Like some kind of twisted test of loyalty.

Rosinante stays kneeling in the dirt. Corazón follows on shaky legs.

Basically, I fucking love a morally conflicted Rosinante.

Canon vs fanon Sanji discourse is always funny to me because… girlie which fanon Sanji are you talking about? There’s so many! You’ve got:

Bisexualji: Basically canon Sanji except he’s bi. His women loving antics can range from no different from canon to a bit toned down. Usually low-key about his sexuality but otherwise normal about it.

Internalised homophobiaji: What the name says. Feelings have to get punched out of him (usually by Zoro). Can be annoying to read/write but the when done well it’s chef’s kiss (pun intended)

Slutji: Most featured in E-rated fics. The fact that he sleeps around (mostly with men) is sometimes used to make someone jealous (mostly Zoro). OOC but when it’s one of those every man on the Grand Line dicks down Sanji fics… it doesn’t really matter does it.

Frenchji: When Sanji is essentially turned into APH France - refined, high-class, has impeccable fashion and uses expensive cologne, wears a deep V blouse, long wavy hair is always preferred. Mostly seen in 40!Sanji fics.

Twinkji: The most common target of these “fanon Sanji ew” complaints but unless you’re on Wattpad he’s actually a rare occurrence? Identifiers are an exaggerated height difference with Zoro, skinny, completely gay, 2000s yaoi level of bottom. I have to say I’ve maybe come across this 1% of the time.

Whumpji: He’s traumatised, he’s depressed and anxious, he thinks no one loves him, he thinks he deserves to suffer. Vinsmokes are 11/10 the time involved. Luffy is sunshine incarnate in these.

Princeji: When he’s either in a royalty AU or never escaped Germa. Usually acts more “pure” than his canon version because Zeff didn’t raise him to be sassy and chivalrous. Maintains the 5-9 year old Sanji personality. Very cute. Even cuter when combined with rogue/knight Zoro.

Tsunji: This is just canon Sanji. The louder he screams at you the more he loves you. His love language is beating you up then leaving a plate of food next to your work station. Objectively the best Sanji.

Sometimes I forget that Cora is a dangerous guy too.

Sabo is my 3rd fave OP character and I love him so much that he appears in almost every fanfic I write.

He’s the pretty, smart, fiercely loyal, unconditionally loving, put together yet goofy big bro I wish I had. I just cry over the idea that he’s always supporting Luffy and loves him dearly, especially after Ace’s death where he feels like he needs to give him enough love for the two of them.
