New acquired HC that just popped on my mind: When Harry disarmed ( Expelliarmus ) Severus in PoA, it reminded Severus of James and Sirius bullying him all over again with Remus watching.

I know Cedric just died and Draco was dying but something about Sev in these two scenes just made me forget everything and everyone around me.
This is so funny, guess what? The reason why Regulus betrayed Voldemort is because he hurt his poor elf, just like why Severus betrayed Voldemort is because of Lily. Didn't Regulus Black have a shrine and poster of Voldemort? He's a blood supremacist but you're too deep down with the fact that Jegulus fanfics are NOT canon. Plus Jegulus is just a knock-off Snily and Jeverus. And Severus was just two-three years older than Regulus when he betrayed Voldemort as well.
Idk if this'll ruffle some feathers but tbh it baffles me when people say its hypocritical to like Regulus but hate Snape but like... Was Regulus a bad person? Yes absolutely! But he was also a child who believed in horrible ideologies because that's all he was taught, he saw examples of what happened to family members who betrayed those ideals, and he ended up having doubts about being a death eater all on his own before he sacrificed himself to avenge his beloved house elf (ntm we've seen the way other death eaters/blood purists treat house elves, Regulus was an outlier for that). It's fun to think about the what ifs of his character, like whether he would've eventually unlearned his prejudices had he lived, whether he would've switched sides completely, etc. We don't know, because he didn't even live long enough to reach his 20s. We have no idea what his personality was like either, we only heard about him second-hand.
With Snape there's no what if scenario because we see the kind of adult he became and he's still terrible, in more ways than one. The only reason he betrayed Voldemort in the first place was because Voldemort was going to kill his crush, he did not gaf otherwise and he also didn't gaf that James and Harry were in danger too. If Voldemort had chosen Neville instead of Harry, he probably wouldn't have ever switched sides. Even beyond being a death eater he had a horrible personality too. The way he treated Harry, Neville, Hermione, and probably countless other students as a GROWN ASS MAN let alone being their TEACHER was atrocious. He was literally holding onto petty schoolboy grudges.
This is just my opinion. I think it's totally fine to like either one or both or neither, and I'm also not in any way excusing Regulus's racism or the fact he joined the Death Eaters. I just don't think its fair to compare a grown man with an teenager who didn't even get the chance to change before he died

Unfair Comparisons:
Snape inadvertently and mistakenly put the Potter family in danger, and when he realized his error, he was filled with remorse. He risked his own life and was willing to pay any price to protect the Potters (mother, father, and child).
Snaters : Snape is so heartless; he is a murderer. He is worse than Voldemort and Pettigrew because he only asked Voldemort to spare the life of his old friend, He should have risked his life and begged Voldemort to spare his old bully and tormentor as well...
Sirius deliberately plotted Snape’s murder and betrayal of Lupin. He sent Snape toward a werewolf, fully aware that Snape would either be killed or turned into a werewolf himself, while his best friend, Remus, would be exposed as a werewolf and condemned as a murderer. Yet, even decades later, Sirius shows no remorse for his attempted murder.
Snaters: Oh, Sirius was just a kid having fun.
And the biggest part of Regulus's characterization was he was a bigoted Pure-Blood supremacist believer, he really only did one thing.
Whereas, we've seen Severus do good and bad things, but we've seen Severus do the bad and good things, and Regulus's character? We only got the "good thing" he did.
You basically can't turn the fact that Regulus is a racist in our world, it's canon but people still make head canons for it.
Regulus is pretty much a blank character, but we know enough that he is a stereotypical pure-blood child.
Now I'm not saying that Severus is not a blood supremacist, but we can all come to the conclusion that Regulus would refer to Lily as a mudblood.
I'm not saying Severus did not do bad things, but Regulus isn't innocent and he's pretty much bad.
And the biggest part of Severus's characterization is he is a GREY character.
Regulus canonically only did one good thing, whereas Severus did many good (and bad) things.
You can't use fanon as proof and that we don't know anything about Regulus, he canonically only did one good thing.
*Severus does many good things.*
Fandom: "That's just some!!! He bullied kids!!! He was Neville's boggart!!! You stan a child bully!!! He said Mudblood to Lily!!! He said Mudblood many times!!! He's a blood supremacist!!! He glorified the Dark Lord!!!
*Meanwhile, Regulus does one good thing.*
Fandom: "He never had a shrine of Voldemort!!! He never had posters of Voldemort!!! He betrayed Voldemort!!! He never had an obsession with Voldemort!!! He never became a blood supremacist!!! He never was involved in the DA!!! He secretly had Muggle-Born friends!!! He was a cute little gay twink that needs his sunshine!!! He died trying to save James and Sirius!!!"
*Meanwhile they also love Barty, Bellatrix, Evan, the Marauders, etc.*
Okay, so if you ship Jegulus and read this kind of fanfics, you basically cannot hate Snily and Jeverus because it is two knockoffs of them😹 The mischaracterisation here is pure gold🙌🏻
