Chasing Feelings
Tyler Owens x reader
warnings - mutual pining, jealous!reader, some swear words, fluff
word count - 2838
a/n - this was literally supposed to come out within a week of the release of twisters, but Iâve been gone for a month lol. I took so many breaks while writing this, so I'm not completely sure everything goes together, but it should. thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy :)

Youâve had a crush on Tyler ever since the day you met him, and to you, he was way out of your league. You also werenât the only one who felt this way; the amount of girls who showed up at empty fields just to meet Tyler was insane, but could you really blame them?
Tyler has so much charisma to the point where it seems like heâs attracted to everyone he meets.Â
When he stares directly into everyoneâs eyes, giving them his undivided attention, and flashes that charming smile of his, itâs kind of hard to tell who he actually is or isnât flirting with.Â
You, of course, were no different, so how the hell were you supposed to know that he liked you back?
Tyler was from Arkansas and he and his team decided to move to Oklahoma to storm chase several seasons ago. When he first showed up that day at the gas station with Boone filming his every move, you thought that he was just another adrenaline junky wanting to see a tornado up close for views. At the time you were a part of another group of chasers from Oklahoma, and since you had already made up your mind about him, you decided it was best to ignore him.
But, he made it hard.
You were surprised to see him walk over to your group and start chatting it up with a couple of your teammates. Turns out, they knew him from his youtube channel and were fans. Having him so close to you made it easier to check him out, which Tyler had noticed, but never called you out for it.
He came up to introduce himself to you, giving you a smile and taking off his sunglasses as he walked towards you.Â
âYouâre a long way from home,â you had told him â you had overheard him talking about his hometown in Arkansas.
âThis is my home now,â he had said.
He had pointed out that he was familiar with some of your work and began joking around with you so casually like he had known you his whole life. Unfortunately, you became immediately hooked.
You spent that night binging all of his videos and past live streams because you were oh so wrong about him.
That day led you to where you are now, a part of Tylerâs crew and regularly going out on chases for the fun of it.
âHow are you doinâ today, Bambi?â you hear Tyler walk up and come stand next to you as you adjust the lens on your camera. You, and all the other crews, were currently at a gas station preparing for the coming storm.
When he had first given you that nickname, you had told him it was basic, which resulted in him smirking and saying, âAinât nothing basic about you.â
You still think about that moment to this day.
âJust fine, Tyler, is there something I can help you with?â you answer, not taking your eyes off your camera.
âWhat, I canât talk to my favorite person?â he asks.Â
You can hear the smile in his voice, and when you finally turn around to look at him, you arenât surprised to see it spread across his face. âI thought Boone was your favorite person?â you tilt your head at him.
âI can have more than one favorite,â he says, nudging you with his soldier.
You raise your eyebrows and glance over at Boone, who was already looking in your direction with a knowing smile, and say, âI wonder how Boone would feel about that.â
Boone was Tylerâs best friend and had known you had a crush on Tyler the day you joined the team, and since then has repeatedly told you to confess to Tyler. Every time you tell him no, he just tells you yes because according to him Tyler feels the same way about you. It didnât take long for Dani and Lily to catch on either, but unlike Boone, they donât pressure you.
âNo need to start any trouble,â Tyler jokes, and you laugh at that. He opens his mouth to say something else, but stops when he hears the sound of more vehicles pull up.Â
The two of you turn around in time for you to see the crew exit their vehicles, including Javi and what you know to be Kate. Youâve never met Kate given the fact that she rarely decides to come back home to Oklahoma, but from what youâve heard sheâs really good with tornadoes.
You watch as the pair head towards you â Javi coming up to hug you while Kate goes to hug Tyler. Javi shoots you a look as he glances over at the two, and you quickly give his shoulder a shove, causing him to let out a laugh.
Javi is also amongst those who know you like Tyler. This crush is honestly starting to become a little pathetic.
Kate pulls away from Tyler and looks over at you with a kind smile, holding her hand out for you to shake. âHi, Iâm Kate. Iâve heard a lot about you from Javi, so itâs nice to finally meet you.â
According to Boone, Tyler couldnât keep his eyes off of Kate the last time she was here. At the time your migraines had started to come back so you had decided to sit the chase out, and good thing you did because there was no way you could handle watching that scene unfold.
You offer Kate a smile back as you shake her hand. âSame here, itâs nice to meet you.â
âWhat brings you city folks out here?â Tyler jokes.
Kate rolls her eyes at the nickname. âIâm doing the same thing the two of you are doing â storm chasing,â she replies as she looks out at the horizon at the clouds forming, her hair moving with the breeze.
âI thought you left Storm Par,â you say to Javi as you motion your head towards the white trucks
âWe did, but that doesnât mean we canât use their equipment. They have some really high tech stuff â we might as well put it to good use,â Javi explains. He then looks over at Kate and gives her a nudge. âNot like we need it since Kateâs here.â
Kate gives him a small smile at the compliment.
âWell, city girl, which direction are we going in today?â Tyler asks as Kate bends down to take a dandelion into her hand. Tyler takes his sunglasses off in order to get a better look at the sky.Â
Itâs a question Tyler usually asks you when itâs just the two of you in his truck with the rest of the crew following behind in their vehicles. You have no right to be jealous, but that doesnât stop the feeling of jealousy from growing in your chest. Choosing to ignore it, you take a deep breath and watch Kate, waiting for her answer.
You watch as a gust of wind blows the specks of dandelion out of her hand, causing Kate to look up into the sky at a dark funnel beginning to take form.
âThat one,â Kate points.
âAre you sure?â Tyler questions in a teasing manner, one of his eyebrows raising.
âIâll tell you later,â Kate replies, and then follows it with a question, â do ya mind if I ride with you?â
âNot at all,â Tyller answers, but then turns to look at you,â as long as my trusty navigator doesnât mind.â
What the hell are you supposed to say? No?Â
You donât even notice your tense jaw until you open your mouth to answer. âOf course not, you two go ahead,â you tell Tyler, looking between him and Kate as you offer up a smile.
âWell then itâs settled, letâs ride. Just make sure you donât get me lost,â Tyler smirks as he turns to walk towards his truck. Kate rolls her eyes as she follows him, a small smile on her lips.
Javi turns to you once the pair are out of earshot. âYou donât mind?â he repeats your words, not believing you for a second.
âI donât,â you give him a shrug as you begin walking towards his Storm Par truck. Javi follows right behind you, his hands stuffed into his pockets.
âMhm. You look like you were about to pop a blood vessel,â Javi lets out a laugh.
You stop in your tracks and turn to face him. âWas it that obvious?â you ask, your eyes wide.
âRelax, Iâm kidding,â his smile drops once he sees the look on your face. You release a breath and continue walking. Once the two of you are in the safety of his truck, Javi asks, âyou really like him, huh?â
âUnfortunately,â you huff out. âIâm slowly trying to get over it, though.â
âWhy?â
âBecause it's a useless little schoolgirl crush, and itâs not like heâs actually going to like me back, so thereâs no point in continuing to suffer.â
Javi just hums in response, starting the vehicle and placing his hands on the steering wheel. Then he glances over at you, âI say you should hold out, whatâs the worst that can happen?â
Before you can answer, Tylerâs truck pulls up beside you guys on Javiâs side of the car. Tyler leans forward to look over at the two of you before moving his finger in a swirling motion and driving off.
âThatâs your man, huh?â Javi gives you a questioning look, his tone light.
You let out a small laugh, âJust drive the damn truck, Javi.â
The chase was eventful as always. Kateâs instincts were right and led the group right into the tornadoâs path, where Tyler stopped to anchor his truck. The rest of you hung back as you watched Tyler shoot fireworks into the eye of the storm.Â
Even though you had some distance on them, you could still hear the hoots and hollers coming from their spot in the field. The group of tornado watchers that had decided to join the chase got out of their vehicles to join the celebration.
Javi looks over at you and shakes his head in fake disappointment, resulting in you rolling your eyes.
After the chase everyone decides to go out for drinks before heading to the motel. From your spot at the bar next to Javi, you can see Tyler in the back of the bar throwing darts with Kate.
âYou know, you should blink every once in a while,â you hear a voice say in your ear. You jump and turn around to see Boone standing there with a grin and a beer in one of his hands.
âI donât think she cares at this point, she has been ignoring me all night for that redneck,â Javi jokes.
You scoff, âNo, I havenât.â
âOh really? What was I just talking about then?â Javi looks at you with his eyebrows raised. Boone joins him and turns his attention back to you.
Your mouth opens, but you quickly close it when you realize you donât have an answer. You let out a sigh as you drop your head into your hands. âIâm sorry,â you say in defeat.
âDonât worry about it,â Javi says, âI just canât wait for the two of you to finally get together so this can end.â
âYou and me both, brother,â Boone says, clinking his beer bottle against Javiâs.
As the night starts to come to an end, you say your goodbyes to the group before heading back to the motel. It was just across the street, and the majority of the people in the area were tornado chasers, so you had no problem walking back by yourself.
After making your way up the stairs and into your room, you decide on taking a quick shower before heading off to bed.
When you get out, youâre about to turn the lights and the tv off so you can go to sleep when you hear a knock on your door. Assuming it was Boone, Dani, or even Lily, you open the door without hesitation, only to reveal Tyler on the other side.
He stands in front of you, his hands in his pockets as he looks down at you with a gentle smile and his clothes still on from the day. âHey, there. You left without sayinâ goodbye.â
âWell I told Boone, Javi, Dani, and Lily goodbye, so technically I did,â you tell him. A gust of wind from the night breeze blows through the doorway, causing you to cross your arms over your chest.
âOuch, I see Iâm not important anymore,â Tyler says.
You let out a small laugh. âIâm pretty sure you donât need me to tell you youâre important.â
âYou know I do,â he says.
You let out a small hum in response before asking, âSo whereâs Kate?â
âIâm actually not sure, last time I saw her, I think she was talking with Javi,â he answers, his eyebrows furrowing as he glances back at the parking lot. Then he shrugs and says, âI had to leave her since she was kicking my ass in darts so who cares.â
âDidnât enjoy having your ego bruised, huh?â you joke, and Tyler rolls his eyes.
âHey, I donât have a problem with gettinâ beat by a woman,â he chuckles.
âWhatever you say,â you smile at him. âWas there something else you wanted? I was just about to go to bed.â
Tyler clears his throat. âUh yeah, there is actually,â he tells you as he stands up straight. You raise your eyebrows as you wait for him to continue. âI was wonderinâ, well hopinâ, you would want to do somethinâ. You know, just the two of us,â he says.
Is he - No, letâs not jump to conclusions.
âDonât we always?â you question.
âWell, yeah, but I meantâŚyou know,â Tyler begins to scratch the back of his neck, and glances down at the ground, âLike a date.â
You blink. And blink again. And again.
Then when Tyler notices your silence, he adds, âBut I totally understand if you donât want to.â
You blink again. âLike seriously?â you finally ask. Your eyebrows are furrowed, still not completely believing him.
âYes,â he says.
âOkay,â you nod, a small smile starting to form on your lips.
Okay? Thatâs all you have to say?
âYeah?â Tyler perks up, and you nod again.
âYeah,â you confirm.
Tyler chuckles. âYou know, I donât know why I was nervous. I already knew you had a crush on me.â
You choke on your spit as you give him an incredulous look. âYou what?â
âYeah, and you know I figured you would catch on to me by now, but I wasnât sure if you were and just ignoring me or what,â he smirks.
âAnd how exactly was I supposed to catch on?â you ask, adding air quotes at the end.
âIâve been flirting with you this whole time,â he tells you like itâs obvious.
âTyler, I donât know if youâve noticed, but you flirt with anyone,â you tell him.
âNo, I donât,â Tylerâs face twists up, and you give him a look. He thinks for a second before saying, âWell, yeah, I guess I do. Kind of.â
âWhat the hell do you mean âkind ofâ?â
âI feel like my serious flirting is different from my usual charming self,â he shoots you a wink.
âNo. No itâs not Tyler. Your usual charming self made me think you like Kate,â you tell him, causing his eyebrows to raise in amusement.
WellâŚmaybe you shouldâve kept that last part to yourself.
âYou thought I liked Kate?â he smiles, leaning in a little bit more.
You roll your eyes and decide not to answer. Tyler takes your silence as a greenlight to keep talking shit.
âWere you jealous?â
You scoff as your eyes widen, âhow dare you!â
âYou were!â he exclaims, your reaction giving you away.
Feeling your face begin to heat up and wanting to hide from the embarrassment you back up to be able to close the door in his face. âGoodnight Tyler,â you mumble, fully ready to be alone once again, but of course Tyler puts his hand up to stop you.
âOh come on, Bambi, donât shy up on me now,â he smirks, going back to leaning on the door with his palm still on the door.
âSays the one who got nervous to ask me out,â you point out, causing Tyler to laugh. âGoodnight,â you repeat, and once again you try to close the door, but youâre met with resistance.
Tylerâs laughter dies down. âAlright, alright, Iâll stop,â he tells you. âCan I come in?â
âI donât know,â you reply, giving him a stern look.
âCome on, I promise I wonât tease you anymore.â
You sigh. âFine.â
Tyler thanks you as you step aside to make room for him to enter the room, but as he walks past you, he says, âBut Kate? Really?âÂ
Yeah, he isnât going to let this go anytime soon.

Seduction by Deception
Feyd Rauth x reader x Lady Margot
Warnings - 18+, smut, threesome, somnophilia?- based from the movie, penetration
Word count - 2177
a/n - request: "passionate kissing and smut after putting his hand in the box, without killing Margot Thank you!" - i hope it's okay that i inserted reader in here too lol, also 10k likes is insane tysm! I hope you enjoy :)

âWhy exactly are we here again?â you turn to your close friend Lady Margot whoâs sitting in the chair next to you. The two of you were sitting in the Baronâs section, waiting for the fight to begin. She playfully rolls her eyes at you with a shake of her head.
âIâve told you a thousand times already, weâre here to preserve the Harkonnen bloodline through Feyd Rautha so the Kwisatz Harderach can be born in the future since the Atreides are no longer living. Reverend Mother sees him as a worthy prospect, and he will eventually become the Baron,â she explains.
âI get that, but why are we here? Couldnât Reverend Mother do this herself?â you ask as you fan yourself.
âBecause given what happened between Feyd and his mother, she didnât think she would be successful since she is seen as a motherly figure.â
You furrow your eyebrows and tilt your head in confusion. âWhat happened between him and his mother?â
âHe killed her,â she tells you, causing your eyes to widen.
âWhat do you mean he killed her,â you repeat, âWhat happened?â
âWho knows,â Lady Margot says as she throws her hands up. âAnyways, that is why weâre here.â
âAnd what if he kills us, did Reverend Mother think of that?â you ask. You shift in your seat as fear starts to seep into you as you think of whatâs to come later tonight. Thereâs no way youâre going to let yourself go out like that.
âIf that happens, at least we died for the cause,â she says. Your mouth falls open at her statement, causing Lady Margot to laugh. âRelax, I doubt that will happen since heâll be under compulsion.â
âI donât think this job requires two people, I'm pretty sure one of us would suffice. Preferably you.â
Lady Margot fake gasps. âWould you really leave me alone with him?âÂ
âLike you said, if anything were to happen to you, at least it was for the cause,â you joke. Lady Margot smiles at you.
Your conversation is interrupted by Feydâs name being announced throughout the arena and the roar of the crowd. Maybe your head will explode from the noise, then you won't be forced to seduce a killer. When Feyd finally enters the arena, both you and Lady Margot raise your eyeglasses to get a better look at him.Â
âWell, at least heâs not bad to look at,â you murmur, Lady Margot humming in agreement.
Later that night as you and Lady Margot walk the halls of the Harkonnen compound, the only thing going through your mind are flashbacks from today's fight. Itâs obvious that Feyd enjoys what he does and has no remorse for any one thatâs not himself. He was toying with those poor men in the arena and had a smirk on his face all throughout.
You see Lady Margot look at you out of the corner of your eye, causing you to turn and look at her. She raises an eyebrow, silently asking if youâre okay, and you give her a reassuring smile.Â
âIt should be late enough that Feyd is on his way to his room,â she says as she looks out at the fireworks exploding in the air outside. âShall we get started?â
You give her a nod as the two of you begin the walk to the private side of the compound. The halls seem to get darker and darker the deeper the two of you go. There are two armed men guarding the entrance of one hallway, which leads you to guess it leads to Feydâs quarters. The men give both you and Lady Margot a suspicious look as the two of you get closer, and right as one of them opens their mouth to say something, you compel them both to leave.
As the two of you turn a corner, you notice Feyd in the distance, strolling with his hands clasped behind his back. You give Lady Margot a look before hiding in the shadows as she starts walking closer to him.
Feyd, on the other hand, can sense that someone is following him, but he doesnât know that you are somewhere hiding. With a tilt of his head, he stops walking and listens as Lady Margot gets closer to him. You watch from your hiding place, waiting until youâre needed.
Suddenly Feyd walks away and disappears, leaving both you and Lady Margot confused, only for him to step out from the shadows a moment later behind her. He places a blade against her neck, causing Lady Margot to tilt her head to display more of her skin to him.
âYouâre following me,â he says into her ear.Â
Lady Margot smirks as she responds, âI am? I hadnât noticed.â
Feyd allows her to turn around to face him, his blade still at the ready. âHow did you get past the guards?â
âWhat guards?â she innocently smiles up at him. She gives you a discrete hand gesture, signaling you to come out.
Before Feyd has a chance to say anything else, you begin to use the voice on him as you slowly walk towards the pair, sending shockwaves through his mind. Feyd closes his eyes as he winces and subconsciously lowers his blade. He shakes his head, trying to get the feeling in his head to disappear, but itâs no use. He bawls his hands into fists, hoping that the feeling of his nails digging into his skin will keep him grounded.
âI know all about you Bene Gesserit witches, stop this at once,â Feyd commands Lady Margot.
She furrows her brows in fake confusion, âIâm not doing anything to you.â
âStop the lies woman, I had a dream about you last night. Iâm almost certain I have never met you before this moment,â he says. His eyes are now closed as he tries to keep his mind in order, but itâs getting harder and harder for him by the second as you increase your power. The noise from the fireworks outside disorients him more.
Lady Margot turns and begins to walk away, causing Feydâs feet to follow her without him knowing. âAnd how do you know that it was me who planted that dream inside of you? There are thousands of Bene Gesserit.â
She swiftly leads Feyd down another hallway and into a giant room with you skulking behind them at a distance. Feyd is hypnotized as he watches the sway of her cloak Once all three of you are inside the room, the door closes. Lady Margot sits down on the bed placed in the center of the room and removes her hood.
Feyd opens his eyes at the sound of the door closing. âI donât recognize this place.â
âBecause you are in the guest quarters, my lord Na-Baron,â says Lady Margot, softly.
Discombobulated, Feyd turns to look around the room to gather his surroundings, and thatâs when he notices you standing by the door. âWho are you?â
âThat does not matter at the moment, my lord,â you give him a smile as you step closer to the two of them.
Feyd looks between you and Lady Margot, utterly confused and unaware of whatâs about to happen. The last thing he hears as his thoughts come to a stop and his mind becomes empty are the words âhappy birthdayâ being whispered into his mind by you. Both you and Lady Margot now have full control over his body as he stands there waiting orders.
âCome to me,â Lady Margot whispers. Feyd slowly moves over to her, his eyes revealing the vacantness in his skull. âKneel.â
His body lowers to the floor in front of her place on the edge of the bed.Â
Lady Margot produces a small box from the inside of her cloak, the gom jabbar. âPlace your right hand into the box.â
Feyd obeys as his eyes donât leave hers. Once his hand is fully inside, Lady Margot moves her unoccupied hand to hover a sharp pin by his neck. As she increases the power inside the box, Feydâs jaw begins to tense and his eyes fall closed.
âI thinkâŚthis is arousing him,â Lady Margot tells you, but it comes out like a question.
âWell, you heard what people say about him, heâs a sadistic masochist. Iâd probably be more confused if this didnât turn him on,â you point out.
âI suppose so, how interesting,â she gives you a smile of which you return. âNo better time to get started than now.â
âI should be holding the box and you should be the one on the floor,â you joke, causing Lady Margot to laugh.
âEnjoy it while it lasts.â
You take your place beside the hallowed Feyd and begin to kiss the side of his neck, while Lady Margot begins to read his energy through the box. Feyd leans his head to the side to give you more room as you make his way down his jaw. You watch as his hips jerk from the sensations.
He really is enjoying this.
You move a hand and place it over his crotch, and when Feyd bucks his hips again, you take it as a sign to continue. His mouth falls open as you begin to palm him through the fabric of his pants.
When you stick your hand into his pants to wrap your hand around him, he lets out a moan. Lady Margot allows him to fall back into you.
You watch as Feydâs eyes slowly open as Lady Margot finishes her reading and relinquishes some of her power on him. Suddenly, he turns his head and body to connect his lips with yours, which takes you by surprise at first. He places his hands onto your waist, pulling you closer to him and allowing you to place your hands onto the sides of his face for you to do the same. For a second, you forget that Lady Margot is still in your presence.
When you pull away to catch your breath, Feyd instantly tries to pull you back in, but you softly push him away by his chest with a smile as you stand up and join your friend on the bed. His eyes are filled with hunger as he watches your every move, darting his gaze between you and lady Margot.Â
âHe probably wouldâve done this without having to compel him,â Lady Margot states. You give her a nod in agreement. âUndress for us.â
Feyd wastes no time as he stands up to obey Lady Margot orders, letting his robe fall to the ground along with his pants and undergarments. His toned chest is revealed to you, and you canât help the attraction you start to feel towards this psychotic man.
âJoin us,â you command, causing Feyd to situate himself between the both of you in bed.
Both you and Lady Margot also undress before laying back on the bed on either side of Feyd. She goes to kiss his neck as her hand travels south to wrap her hand around his cock, while you let Feyd pull your mouth towards his. You let your hand slowly drift around his torso as he moans into your mouth from Lady Margotâs hand. You donât stop him when his tongue darts into your mouth and begins exploring. When Feyd finally deattaches his lips from yours, only taking a second to breathe before joining his lips with Lady Margot.
âNot a bad kisser,â Lady Margot tells you telepathically, and you canât help but laugh.
When it appears that Feyd is getting antsy with just the kissing and the gentle handjob, Lady Margot takes it as a sign to do the needed action to seal Reverend Motherâs plan. The room fills up with Feydâs and Lady Margotâs moans while he fills her up as she rides him. You feel arousal dip out of you at the scene unfolding in front of you, suddenly feeling the need to be touched.Â
Feyd mustâve gotten the message because he uses a hand to give some attention to the aching bud between your legs. When Feyd pushes a finger inside of your soaked opening, a whimper falls out of your mouth causing Feyd to smirk.
For a moment, you feel a twinge of jealousy at the fact of Lady Margot getting to carry his child before quickly coming back to reality. Thereâs no way you would want to walk around pregnant.
The next day, when you and Lady Margot arrive back at your homeworld you are welcomed by an eager Reverend Mother.
âSo?â Reverend Mother asks, waiting for one of you to answer.
âIt was a success. I now carry his heir and the bloodline is secured, just as you requested,â Lady Margot answers.
âAnd can he be controlled?âÂ
This time, you speak up. âEasily. You will be pleased to know that he will be a worthy ruler. He loves pain and is sexually vulnerable.â
âWell thenâŚIt is done,â says Reverend Mother, before waving the both of you away with a motion of her hand.

Excuse Me?
Benny Cross x reader
Warnings - just fluff, dad!benny, some swear words
Word count - 2105
a/n - read the full request here - this was supposed to be posted a couple days after I got the request, but my headaches decided to come back, so here we are 2 weeks later lol. I hope you enjoy :)

âSweetheart, you canât just grab everything you see and throw it into the basket,â Benny sighs as he looks down at his daughter.
Little Violet was standing on her tippy toes trying to put a bag of chips inside the basket Benny was holding, but she froze at the sound of Bennyâs voice. She drops her hands to her sides before pouting up at Benny.Â
âDonât give me that look. Mommy gave us a list and told us to only buy what we need. We donât wanna make mommy upset do we?â Benny gives Violet a look, causing her to stomp back down the aisle to put the chip bag on the shelf.Â
Benny held in his laugh because he knew it would only upset Violet more.Â
Before you left for work that morning, you had looked through the pantry to see what you needed to buy from the store on your way home. The grocery store was right next to the cosmetics store where you worked, so you didnât mind stopping by after.
Benny thought it would be a good idea to get some fresh air with Violet, so he offered to go shopping for you â this way, he could kill two birds with one stone and also give you a ride home.Â
You were hesitant at first because Benny wasnât the best at picking out the correct items, and you knew Violet would give Benny a hard time and beg him to buy anything that looked interesting to her four-year-old eyes. Since you were running late and didnât have the time to mull it over, you agreed and quickly jotted down everything you needed on a piece of paper.
So now here the troublesome pair was in the store making their way down the list and the aisles.Â
âDo you wanna help daddy finish the list?â Benny asks Violet, trying to cheer her up.
She was still pouting, but now she had her arms crossed as she walked alongside her father. Violet shook her head at Benny and kept looking down at the ground.
Itâs obvious where Violet gets her stubbornness from..
Benny rolls his eyes as he bends down to Violetâs eye level. âYou know itâs not nice to ignore someone, weâve talked about this,â Benny says, but Violet still doesnât look up at him.
Then he gets an idea.
âOkay, how about this. You help me, and Iâll let you pick out something for yourself before we leave,â Benny tells her, and that catches Violetâs attention.
Violet looks at him for a second, before holding out one her hands and offering Benny her pinky.Â
Benny smiles as he wraps his own pinky around his daughterâs. âI pinky promise.â
The rest of the grocery list gets crossed off easily â with Violetâs help â and as promised, Benny lets Violet roam the aisles to try and figure out what she wants. He thought it would be a quick thing, but Violet has been walking around for at least ten minutes.
âSweetheart, itâs not that hard to make a decision,â Benny tells her as he glances down at his watch.
âIâm thinking!â she huffs. Benny throws his hands up in defense.
âWhat about the chips I told you to put back earlier, why donât you just get those?â he suggests, growing impatient.
âNo,â she glares up at him, before continuing down the aisle. Benny runs a hand down his face as he reluctantly follows her.
Finally, after a long process of elimination, Violet settles on a bag of candy. When Benny offers to hold it for her, she quickly draws her hand back, wanting to hold it herself.
âOkay miss independent,â Benny mumbles, but ignores her and heads towards the check out line.
Violet proudly hands the cashier her candy, which the girl gladly scans before handing it back to Violet with a smile.
âWhat do you say?â Benny asks Violet as he pulls out his wallet to pay.
âThank you,â Violet smiles up at the cashier.
âWell, you are most welcome,â the cashier gushes at her, before looking back at Benny, âShe is so cute.â
Benny quickly thanks her as he hands her cash for the groceries.
The cashier takes the money and counts it, and just as she begins to give Benny his change back she innocently asks, âWhereâs her mother, is she around?âÂ
Benny was grossed out â one: because the girl looked kike she was in high school, and two: because the girl had the audacity to ask a question like that.
âYeah,â he curtly says as he tucks the change back in his wallet.Â
The girl seemed disappointed at Bennyâs answer, but Benny didnât care. He grabs Violetâs hand in one of his and grabs the grocery bags in the other before heading out the store.
âWhy did she ask about mommy?â Violet asks, looking up at Benny.
âDonât worry about it sweetheart, itâs not important,â Benny shakes his head. Heâs glad when Violet quickly dismisses it and directs her attention to a tiny dog in some ladyâs purse walking past them. The lady sees Violet eyeing the dog and stops to let her pet it.
After putting the groceries in the car and prying Violet away from the dog, Benny motions for Violet to hold his hand so they could start walking to your job and wait for your shift to finish.
âDaddy, can we get a dog?â Violet asks as they walk, her bag of candy still in her other hand.
Bennyâs about to respond and tell her no when a middle aged woman steps into his path. The lady had a couple bags of groceries in one of her hands and one hand on her hip, an unpleasant look on her face. Benny goes to step around her, but the lady quickly blocks him.Â
When she opens her mouth, Benny expects her to address him, but instead the lady bends down to become eye level with his daughter. His grip tightens on Violetâs hand, but doesnât make a move to do anything else, wanting to see what the woman has to say since itâs clearly important to her.
âHey, sweetie, whereâs your mother?â the woman asks Violet and Bennyâs face contorts in frustration.
âWhat is up with these women today?â he thinks.
Violet opens her mouth to answer, but before she could get a word out, Benny speaks up. âViolet, we donât talk to strangers, remember?â
Violet looks up and gives him a nod, quickly closing her mouth.
âIs there somethinâ I can help you with, maâam?â Benny asks, trying to keep his tone pleasant in front of his daughter.
âYeah, is this little girl yours?â she glares, standing back up to look at Benny.
What the fuck?
âWhat does it matter to you?â Benny asks, his eyebrows furrowed.
âI just want to know what someone like you is doing with a child,â the woman says.
âWhat? Do I know you or somethinâ,â Benny questions.
âNo, but I know all about you Vandals, and I know that you guys are nothing but trouble with all your motorcycles and drinking. Riding a bike is too important to you guys, making it impossible for you men to care about anything else, let alone a family.â
Benny wasnât even wearing his colors today. After Violet was born, he stopped being so reckless and decided to stop riding so much. He didnât want to be thrown in jail and have his daughter start her life without a father, not to mention the fact that he would be missing out on the beginning of her life. Â
He rarely wears his colors or any type of leather in public anymore, so Bennyâs confused on how this lady knows who he is. Then again, he used to cause a lot of trouble back then to the point where everyone knew who he was as soon as he stepped foot inside of a bar or restaurant. That was a long time ago, though, and Benny isnât that lost soul anymore.
âListen lady, you have no idea what youâre talking about, so if youâd please move out of the way, Iâll go about my day,â Benny says. He doesnât wait for her to answer and tries to walk around her once again, but of course, she stops him. Benny clenches his jaw.
âYouâre not going anywhere until I know that this child is yours,â she folds her arms.
A few people stare at them as they walk by or get into their cars.Â
âThatâs none of your business,â Benny scoffs.
âIt is when Iâm concerned for this childâs wellbeing,â the lady states matter-of-factly, pointing down at Violet.
Violet looks up at her father in confusion. Sheâs not sure whatâs going on, but since itâs obvious that Benny doesnât like the lady in front of her, she decides that she shouldnât like her either.
Benny lets out a frustrated sigh and looks at Violet to ask, âViolet, do you feel safe with me?â
Violet just nods, moving closer to Bennyâs leg.
âSee,â Benny says to the woman, âsheâs fine.â
âThat doesnât mean anything at all,â the lady says.
âListen, I donât have time for this. Please move,â Benny tells her through gritted teeth. His patience is wearing thin.
But the lady doesnât move, and instead continues to stare Benny down.
âWhatâs going on here?â you ask as you walk up behind the lady.
Benny and Violet were so occupied with the woman, that neither of them realized you were walking toward them.Â
âThank god, someone else is concerned,â the lady mumbles before turning to face you. âI just want to make sure that this little girl belongs to this man, but heâs being difficult.â
âThe little girl looks fine to me,â you tell her, giving Violet a smile to which she happily returns.
âBut you canât be too sure of that, the man is practically squeezing this little girlâs arm to keep her next to him,â the lady says.
Your eyebrows furrow and you look over at Benny in confusion. Benny just shrugs and rolls his eyes.
âWell, I think itâs obvious that nothing strange is going on here, so why donât you go,â you try to reassure the woman.
âIâm not going anywhere until Iâm certain, Iâll call the police if I have to.â
âWhatâs your name?â you ask the lady, taking a couple steps closer to her.
âCheryl,â she answers.Â
âListen, Cheryl, I donât know why you think youâre trying to do, but itâs time for you to walk away. That man is my husband, and the child is mine. If thatâs not enough for you, I donât care. You clearly need attention so go find it from someone else, or better yet, get a life,â you say, walking past the lady to go stand next to Benny.
Cherylâs mouth parts in disbelief as she looks between you and Benny.
âIs there anything else youâd like to say? Did you want to bitch and complain some more?â you ask. Benny's eyes widen in surprise, you rarely swear. He has to bite his lip to stop himself from smiling.
Cheryl holds her head up high and clears her throat to reply, âIâll be on my way.â
âGood. Go play vigilante somewhere else, bitch,â you roll your eyes.
The lady looks like wants to say something else, but she doesnât. You watch her let out an annoyed breath before turning around and walking away.
When sheâs out of earshot, you look up at Benny. âWhat the hell was that?â
âI donât know. She knew I was Vandal and just assumed the worst. It doesnât really matter anymore,â Benny answers, watching the woman walk away.
âLooks like your past is coming up to you,â you let out a laugh resulting in Benny sending you a playful glare.
As you all start walking back to the car, Violet comes to your side and tugs your hand for you to look down at her. Benny watches as Violet holds her bag of candy up for you to see.Â
âUh oh,â he mumbles and pretends to be distracted by the keys in his hand.
âA whole bag, Benny? You couldnât have just bought her a lollipop or something?â you look over at him and wait for him to look back at you.
âWell what was I supposed to do, say no?â he throws his hands up.
âYeah, I do it all the time,â you nod.
âWell, I donât know about you, but Iâd actually like to stay on her good side,â Benny says, placing his hand on top of Violet's head.

âDo I have to?â You had asked your parents one night at dinner â they had basically turned it into an intervention.
Your parents werenât a huge fan of you just lounging around the house all the time with nothing to do, although you had no problem with just kicking back and watching a little television. They thought you needed to get out and socialize and make some friends.Â
You werenât necessarily opposed to the idea, but making friends wasnât an easy thing for you. You came off as shy at first, but once you got comfortable in your environment you became pretty talkative and outgoing. This was also a problem when having conversations with people because sometimes they thought you didnât want to talk, or even worse, that you didnât like them for some reason.Â
You wanted to come out of your shell, so when your parents told you that they wanted you to get a job, you were hesitant but you agreed.Â
At least they werenât kicking you out of the house.
What they didnât know is that you would get a job at the local bar where all the Vandals hung out, the townâs motorcycle club. It was easy for you since Johnny, a close family friend â leader and owner of the club â practically owned the bar, so when you had asked him for a job, he was completely fine with it.
Your parents thought you would get a job at something like the grocery store or the book store down the street, but since they loved Johnny they were okay with you working at the bar.Â
So now here you are, your third week as a bartender and you enjoyed it. For the most part, the guys were pretty respectful and you rarely had any problems â mainly because Johnny basically threatened them into treating you right before you even started.Â
There was this instance a couple days ago with a drunk guy, though. He kept getting closer and closer to you, and when it became clear he wasnât going to leave you alone, Johnny interrupted and kicked the guy out of the bar.
You told Johnny that you had it handled, but he had just dismissed you and said, âNo lady should have to deal with that.â
It was pretty obvious that this wasnât your usual crowd. You enjoyed wearing colorful clothes and jewelry, but you did try and tone it down a little so that you didnât stick out too much. Thankfully, you had made a couple of friends so you didnât feel too out of place.
âYou should come out riding with us later,â Kathy, a new friend, tells you from the other side of the bar counter.
âOn a motorcycle? Are you crazy?â You ask as you lean against the counter. A lot of the guys had already gotten their drinks, and they didnât want to get too drunk for the ride later, so you didnât have too much to do.
âWhat else would I be talking about?â she playfully rolls her eyes.
âI donât know, maybe a car ride?â
âWhen was the last time you had fun?â She asks you as she taps the ashes off the end of her cigarette.
âYesterday while watching some game show,â you joke, and Kathy just laughs.
âHow are you two doing over here?â Benny walks up with a glass in his hand, taking a seat next to Kathy.
Benny was another one of your new friends, and you enjoyed whenever he was around. Mostly because you liked how he made your heart flutter just by looking at you or giving you that smirk of his. You hate to admit it, but you were a goner the first day you had met him.
He wasnât your usual type, but who cares. The whole point of this job was to get you to become more open. You highly doubted that the feelings were reciprocated on his end, though.
But little did you know they were. Just like you, Benny had fallen for you as soon as he laid eyes on you. He had just entered the bar and joined a game of pool with some of the other Vandals.
As he was lining up his shot, he heard a laugh that he hadnât heard before. All the laughs he was used to were from the other Vandals or the raspy laughs from the girls that hung around and smoked.
Your laugh was different â light and airy and sometimes started off as just a giggle and got interrupted with a snort. It was also loud enough to be heard over the regular chatter of the bar, making Benny miss his shot.
The guys had joked and asked if he was distracted, but he just brushed it off and tried to regain his focus.
When he looked up furrowed eyebrows to see who was causing the noise powerful enough to throw him off his game, he noticed you standing there behind the bar. You are laughing at something Johnny had said to you as you poured him a drink.
Benny ended up missing his next two shots, and he surprisingly wasnât upset when he lost the game.
Benny needed to know who you were, and he made that his mission from then on. He tried to send you signals that he was interested in you, but for some reason you werenât picking them up. He loved the way you giggled at something he said or how your soft hand accidentally brushed his as you handed him his drink.Â
He was trying so hard to be patient, including now as he saw you talking with Kathy with a gentle smile.
âIâm trying to get her to join us later tonight for the night ride,â Kathy answers him.
âAnd?â Benny asks hopefully, his eyebrows raised as he looks at you with humor written across his face.
âNot happening,â you shake your head.
âWhy not?â he continues.
âBecause she doesnât like fun,â Kathy butts in before you can answer.
âHey, I do like to have fun. Itâs just that my version of fun and yours is different,â you defend.
âHave you ever been on a motorcycle?â Benny asks you as he rubs his hand over his chin. When you shake your head in response, he asks, âDo you want to?â
âNot really a huge fan of putting my life on the line like that,â you tell him. Benny chuckles, Kathy joining in.Â
âItâs not that dangerous, we donât always drive fast. Tonightâs just a cruise. Come on,â Benny says.
His intense gaze is almost enough to make you say yesâŚbut no. Being on the back of a motorcycle didnât seem as safe as being inside a closed up car.
âIâm okay, plus my parents might kill me if I stay out too late,â you say.
âDoesnât Johnny know your parents? Iâm sure they wouldnât be too mad,â says Kathy.
Bennyâs face contorts into surprise at Kathyâs statement. He looks back at you for confirmation, and you give him a silent nod.
âWhat about me?â Johnny questions as he hears his name being mentioned. He gives you a smile as he hands you his glass to refill.
Good, hopefully he can help you get out of this.
âWeâre trying to convince her to come out with us, but sheâs too afraid,â Kathy explains. You let out a scoff.
âOh, thatâs a good idea,â Johnny agrees, taking a sip from his glass.
What?
Your eyes widen as your lips slightly parted in disbelief.
Johnny shakes his head in amusement at your expression. âI promise itâs not that bad, youâll be safe with us. If you get in any trouble with your parents, Iâll talk to them myself.â
You look at the three pairs of eyes staring back at you, waiting for your answer â Kathy with her eyebrows raised, Benny with a daring look behind his eyes, and Johnny with a smirk.
âFine,â you surrender, throwing your hands in the air as the group in front of you lets out a small cheer.Â
As the night at the bar comes to an end, the bikers take that last sip from their glass and throw on their colors, before filing out the door and heading toward their bikes. Hoots and hollers fill the air as everyone begins to hype each other up.Â
âYou can ride with me,â you hear Benny tell you as he walks past you and toward his own motorcycle. He doesnât look back at you as he starts up the bike and waits as everyone else does the same.
Get on a bike. With Benny.
You spot Kathy on a bike with Cal. When she sees you looking, she nods her head towards Benny and smiles. You inhale a deep breath to give yourself before heading towards Benny, who offers you his hand as you climb on behind him.
âWell Iâll be damned, is Rainbow finally coming?â Brucie laughs when he sees you. He gave you the nickname when he saw you on your first day dressed in pastel colors and joked about how bright your clothes were. The name has stuck with you ever since, unfortunately.
âHell yeah,â Cockroach shouts, along with a few others.
You roll your eyes and try to hide the smile forming across your lips. Benny instructs you to wrap your arms around his torso, which you do with uncertainty. Youâre not sure how high or low you should have your hands and how tight to hold onto him.Â
This feels oddly intimate.Â
He smells like cigarettes â which would normally be a huge turn off if it was someone else â along with sweat from the multiple rounds of pool he played throughout the night, and his natural musk.Â
Benny mustâve noticed your nervousness because he grabs your hands and places them on his abdomen, allowing you to feel the muscles beneath his shirt. He gives your hands a small pat as if to keep them in place before following the rest of the Vandals as they pull out onto the street.
Youâre not sure exactly what you were expecting, but it wasnât this. The way the wind whips around and through, taking your breath away in such an addicting way. The way the motorcycle vibrates your whole body, only intensifying your experience. Youâre not sure how fast Bennyâs going, but you couldnât care less.
You hate to admit it, but the ride is over too quickly for your liking. As Benny separates from everyone else and pulls up in front of your house, you realize the smile currently on your face hasnât left since the ride started.
Benny comes to a slow stop before cutting the engine and helping you off the bike and onto the sidewalk. Your body is still buzzing from the vibration of the bike, but you enjoy the feeling.
Thereâs a silence between the two of you as he watches you for a moment, looking you up and down.
âWhat?â You laugh nervously as you shift under his gaze. You wrap your arms around your body, not just to shield yourself from the window, but from him.
Benny smiles and shakes his head. âNothing. I take it you enjoyed the ride.â
âI did actually,â you nod.
âSo you wouldnât be opposed to doing it again sometime?â he asks.
âI guess not,â you say.
âWith me,â he adds, more as a statement than a question.
You blink. âWhat?â
âYou know what. Iâm asking you to come riding with me,â he says casually.
You want to say something, but honestly you're at a loss for words.
âCome on, you know you want to,â he smirks.
âAnd why would I do that?â you question.
âBecause I want you to,â he shrugs his shoulders as he looks out into the distance. Benny takes a breath and hesitates for a second before looking back at you. Itâs now or never. âDo you know how long Iâve been trying to get your attention?â
âMy attention?â you ask, but you think you know where heâs headed with this.
âYes, your attention. Iâve been flirting with you pretty much everyday since you started working at the bar, and you donât seem to notice. I mean, some of the other guys have picked up on the fact that I like you.â
âI thought you were just being nice,â you tell him, your forehead creasing.
âNice?â Benny scoffs with a laugh. âI donât think anyoneâs ever called me that.âÂ
âI donât know, I just-I thought you were being nice since Iâm always hanging around Kathy!â
âEven Kathy has noticed!â he throws a hand up.
âLower your voice!â you hush him. Itâs after midnight, and you donât want everyone on the street to start looking out of their windows.
You really donât know what to say now, though. Like, what the hell have you been doing all this time?
Well, to be fair, people donât usually flirt with you.
âSoâŚ.â
âSoâŚ.â Benny drags out. âWill you put me out of my misery and go on a date with me? It doesnât have to be anything special, unless you want it to. We can just go for a ride or I could take you out to eat. Anything you want,â Benny looks at you with hope written all over his face.Â
A grin slowly made its way across your face as you took in Benny. Is he nervous?
âI mean, I canât really say no because we see each other all the time at the bar anyways,â you joke, causing Benny to let out a chuckle.
âIs that a yes then?â he asks.
âYes,â you confirm. Benny nods, satisfied with your answer.
âI guess I should probably go â youâre cold, and Iâm pretty sure your mother has been looking out the window this whole time,â Benny smirks.
Your mouth drops as you whip your head around just in time to see someone move away from the window on the second floor. Thereâs no doubt youâll be flooded with a ton of questions later.
You turn back around when you hear Bennyâs engine start back up.
âIâll see you soon, Rainbow,â Benny shoots you a win, stealing the nickname Brucie had given you. Â
âThatâs not my name!â you shout after him, and he just gives you a quick glance back before continuing down the road.
