Another ‘The Last Unicorn’ themed painting. Second of three.

Here comes my @tolkienrsb 2024 art! (Acrylic, 40x80cm) I've also been fascinated by the time period in the Years of the Trees before the conflicts within the Noldor truly boil over, but when they are just starting to arise. The "Finwëan family picnic" painting has in some form or another been going back and forth from WIP/abandoned WIP since 2021, so I am also happy to finally have done the idea justice :D
The fic for this piece has been written by @skaelds, who managed to beautifully bring the painting alive in her words and expand on the little moments we see, tying the little scenes together in the evening that the family shares at their yearly picnic. As the Finwëans try to cherish the yearly meeting, the many little tensions and cracks in the peace beautifully explore this strange moment in Aman. You can find the fic here
Rating: General Audiences No Archive Warnings Category: F/M Relationships: general Finwëan family relationships Characters: Finwë, Indis and most of the kids & grandkids Additional Tags: Family Fluff, Tension, Years of the Trees, Dysfunctional Family
I'm sure many have said this, but it always makes me weak to think that Feanor, brilliant and tragic High Prince, the most beautiful of the Noldor, the master of language and smithwork, the greatest mind the Noldor have ever seen, falls in love - still young - with Nerdanel, who is great in her field and as keen as him, but is a normal girl, not nobleborn, not even considered pretty, but he loves her and values her. They travel together, they share the same passions, he loves her for her mind, her hunger for knowledge, her strength. He found his match in her, although she was also different - calmer, gentler, wiser.
Feanor's descent starts when he turns away from her counsel, when the first cracks in their marriage appear, and she is not swayed by him, she knows he is wrong and she holds her ground.
This is not in the published Silm and it's just a version of the story, but Feanor's words to her - were she a true wife - tell me of someone who is incredibly bitter and angry that their wife has left him when he thought she should have followed them. Despite the long estrangement, he still expected her to follow him. He managed to move an entire kingdom, but not his own wife.
How strong she must have been to survive the grief.

Their fic “Angmar Rising” will be revealed in a few short days so keep your eyes peeled for when I can reblog the link to their wonderful work!!
if you’re still taking tolkien requests, i’d love to see celebrimbor :)
First, I asked the very important question: What if he wore white?? Then I asked: What if he wore black??
Anyway, have my new Bimbor design :)

This is first age fashion, not second age, you decide if this is in the first age, or if he´s just slow on trends

Schlaf der Vernunft by Artem Demura
Maglor dies, and so the Oath is beyond fulfilling, and so all eight of them are thrown out into the Everlasting Darkness—
and then Maglor starts singing, and they all join in, and out there beyond What Is songs have more power than perhaps they realize, and their songs make a tiny little oasis of Existence for them
which is all well and good until Fingon goes to rescue Maedhros, and Elrond wants to rescue Maglor, and Nerdanel insists on coming with them, and they find themselves in Fëanorian World

The most unrealistic part of the Silmarillion is the part where Feanor, master craftsman and creative person(tm), finishes a project and is 100% happy with it and thinks it's perfect.
okay so i can’t think about maedhros too long or i start to shake and cry and throw up. BUT but but he’s an oldest son. he’s an heir. he’s The Tall. he finds a throne dumped in his lap amid the smoking ashes of his father’s body and for a reward he’s chained to the peaks of thangorodrim. he hangs there until he’s rescued by the friend who believed he abandoned him. he witnesses the ultimate act of divine grace and mercy.
and he still flings himself headlong into a chasm of fire to flee the burn of his own sins. maedhros you beautiful insane man, you tragedy in motion. top tier silmarillion character.

My art for the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang 2024 by @tolkienrsb.
The wonderful @eilinelsghost took this prompt and made it into an amazing fic about Finrod's reembodiment in Aman, which you will find here after the reveals! It was so great to work together, I can't wait until you can all read her fic!

elrond through the ages based on one glorious panel from chapter 95 of Black Butler (hopefully i got that right....). in the context of this sequence, i always thought it was sad to think abt how many people elrond has lost throughout his life alongside how remarkable he is to remain "as kind as summer" still by the time the hobbit rolls around 🥺
i redrew elrond's poses based on ciel's in the original panels BUT i forgot what page exactly the original panel sequence is... however!! if you scroll down to the middle half of this blog post you can find the original reference pic :D warning that it includes heavy spoilers for the black butler manga so u could just alternatively google 'ciel phantomhive running' and it'd probably be one of the first results that pop up haha

A small comic about Palestine I created to appeal to more passive family and friends
Anyways if you have the money I urge you to donate to Ibraheem Hadi, a Palestinian who contacted me and whom I promised to highlight in relation to this comic:

Otherwise there is always a need for eSims to keep Gazans connected

'Surely that is a Silmaril that shines now in the West?'
