Banana Fish - Major Spoiler Warning!!

So I finally got around to watching BF and my heart has never been so utterly and completely broken. I feel a lot like Eiji, as I think a lot of viewers do, and wanted to save Ash throughout the series. I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending, but after reading Garden of Light (a sequel based seven years after the events of the manga) I feel much more content. Bringing Eiji back to New York and having him and Sing stay friends really warmed my heart, and the admission of the love between Ash and Eiji (even though it was Sing talking to Akira and not Eiji saying those fateful words...) was beautiful. Eiji was easily my favourite, and Ash I wanted to protect like a little brother. This series brought forward some serious emotions from me and tackles some dark topics I myself relate to, but I will forever hold it as my favourite, possibly of all time. There were dark themes and harrowing sequences, but the love shared between Ash and Eiji was just perfect. I've never felt more attached to characters before, this is honestly a work of art.
