Read the article and think about how just a couple of days prior, The Lancet said that 186,000 deaths in Gaza since October is a conservative estimate. Think about all the shattered families, sole survivors, orphans and parents living through unimaginable pain because an Israeli soldier felt bored. Fuck Israel.
My view on the cycle.

Cycles are probably the most mysterious part of Rain World lore, and a common consensus I see on them is things involving multiple, branching timelines. However recently I've heard a theory that I believe fits in much better with the narrative and lore.
The main base of the theory is the karma flower dialogue from Moon,
"This is a hallucinogenic plant. They used to call it a 'Wheel Flower'. It became the symbol for enlightenment as it momentarily enables a creature to let go of its carnal self, and to contact the selves of other planes - dreams, memories, imagined worlds."
The theory summarized is that when we sleep, we can have possibly countless dreams of death. These are our, "cycles" in game. But eventually we wake up into a true reality, which is revealed to us when we progress and rest again. In this way the player and all other creatures act as a sort of seer to other terrifyingly realistic subconscious probabilities, (dreams and imagined worlds) until actually experiencing one true reality. If death is your reality, then you simply reincarnate, which is what happens in hunter's campaign via cancer death.
Karma fits into this by being the one thing that "remembers" these dreams. Even if your death wasn't real, your karma is still affected by it and is tied to you in reality.
I prefer this theory to the timeline theories because of the aforementioned karma flower dialogue, but also because timeline theories have a whole lot of complications when it comes to how ancients tracked time and objectivity. I just believe this theory is a good bit simpler and fits better into what we're already told.
But of course it poses one problem, with this theory it implies that all the slugcats we play as (except Hunter as I mentioned) would have never actually "died" in real life. But, if you've ever played Dark Souls and heard of hollowing then you might know what I'm getting at. By giving up, you do die. And the vast, vast majority of Rain World players give up. Very few make it to the end, the ones that did are skilled enough to have never died outside of these subconscious worlds.

Little bit of fanart for Rain World, one of my favorite games.

some more college doodles as I near the finish line (this semester has utterly destroyed me)

someone asked me a while ago how I draw slugcats and I wanted to make a huge guide going into how I rationalize their anatomy but I’ve been so busy w college I haven’t been able to touch it in like a month! So I decided to post these few notes I had! One day I’ll get back and make an entire guide but for now have these little notes :)
Animals I tend to gravitate towards for slugcat references are: otters, weasels, cats, and monkeys!
Also this isn’t me saying this is what their anatomy is, more so how I think of it and what landmarks I use when I draw!
not me saying this and then getting way over my head in college work :’) when I’m free from it all I really do want to do a few
Rain world on the mind but I cannot for the life of me think of what specifically to draw, so my asks r open to requests :0
yeah sorry we took your canon male character and made him a butch dyke. no yeah it didnt change his appearance hes just a butch dyke now. sorry. hes infinitely cooler now if that makes u feel better

okay hey wait art suggestion time. stop locking yourself in to an art style. especially if you're anyone whos still in/under highschool. but even then stop fucking doing that.
theres nothing wrong with having a preferred style to draw in (clearly as a guy writing a multi book comic i know. trust that i know) but if you catch yourself thinking 'i cant draw that its not my style' or 'i want to learn to draw like that but its not my style' you gotta knock that shit off
you are not a brand. you are not a company. you are a person learning a skill and how the hell do you know what 'your style' is without trying to learn to draw in different ones? please do style studies. please try drawing realism even if it looks like shit at first. try doing abstract works. you dont have to like them but im begging you at least to try, because the things you learn carry over into your main body of work. and youll see yourself grow in ways you didnt think you could 'in your style'.

did not expect a heartbreaking iteration of cain and abel story in a silly creature game but here we are
Can your art be used as a profile picture? (with credit ofc)
Yeah any of my fanart is fine to use for pfps or banners with credit :) i just don't allow usage of any of my personal art like of my ocs for example

The good ol' Folk, SlugBlues with a wawalaika.
I hope the watcher focuses less on the iterators and is more of a return to the mystery, nature, and pulse of the original ecosystem.
I do enjoy Downpour, but the “rat in Manhattan” vibe is much more special to me than the “game-ified” experience of downpour. I enjoyed being a simple creature uncovering a story -not my story- by accident, trekking through all the regions for a colored pearl and a few lines of text.
