It would have been bound to blow up at some point the stress would have gotten to him to the point where HE feels like a burden to everyone... Especially his daughter who resents him. so him potentially calling her that = projecting said feelings only that leads to IMMENSE regret and in a cruel twist make those feelings WORSE Not trying to demonize either one of them of course! I love them to bits! it's just that I feel that they're relationship is much more nuanced and complicated and neither party was a saint Zenkichi loves his little pup as this dialogue shows but he still screwed up at the same time
