I Remember Happening To Use These At The Mall, When Mom Wanted Me And My Family To Take Part In A Scavenger

I remember happening to use these at the mall, when Mom wanted me and my family to take part in a scavenger hunt, taking pictures of things around the mall. I don’t remember if these flowers were it but they are pretty

Thoughts of Millie’s Depth

You know, I see some posts about Millie’s lack of depth and development, including Viv’s responses to it and I wanna say this. I don’t want so very badly for Millie to have some tragic backstory or dark past. Really, I only want, at most, for Millie to have some sort flaw or something about her to have an episode putting her in the limelight. I mean, everyone else has it so crappy already. Stolas being wed against his will to a sheer bitch and abused and mistreated during that marriage, Blitz with his missing mom and manipulative dad - as much as he’s not present, too - sister doing rehab, and his former best friend hating him and having prothestics for all his limbs, Loona having lived almost all her underage years not being adopted and living in pretty much a kennel, and now Moxxie with a missing, beloved mother and a shitty father who threatened to kill him for disobedience and tried to marry him to a scummy ex against his will.

Honestly, it makes Millie stand out from everyone by not having it so crappy. Feels like a change of pace or a breath of fresh air or something. And really, so far, there’s a number of things I’ve noticed about Millie already that can be an episode.

The selectiveness of when to step in for Moxxie, for starters. If Moxxie’s in physical danger, then yeah, she’ll defend him. But as much as I enjoy watching Millie be a badass - the latest fight in Exes and Oohs was fantastic - Moxxie typically doesn’t handle the danger himself and he probably grew a little too dependent on her to take care of it. In fact, the only notable example I can think of when it comes to Moxxie fighting back is the first episode proper of the series, with the cannibal satan-worshipping family. Even then, that’s more like Moxxie fixing what he had fucked up. In sharp contrast, Blitz sexually and verbally harasses Moxxie and he’s left to defend himself. Loona, too, when she feels particularly active in being a bitch towards him. And there’s Millie’s family, who makes their disapproval very clear, complete with Sally not thinking twice about betting on Moxxie’s life. (And after Exes and Oohs, it hits me even harder in the gut since Moxxie’s own family life was absolute shit growing up). Basically, friends and family apparently get a free pass in Millie’s mind to pick on Moxxie, with only minimal resistance from Millie’s end, if there’s any at all.

In fact, about family getting a pass, Millie never really suspected anything about Crimson when first meeting him, even when there’s a building pile of things wrong. I mean, Moxxie’s tense and uncomfortable behavior the entire time he’s ‘home’ and around his father, the fact Millie’s been his wife for at least a year but has never ever been told about Moxxie’s family or childhood home or past life in general, and the lack of reaction from Crimson’s end when hearing that Chaz, the very same guy he wanted to welcome into the family, landed his son in the slammer. Seriously, no chastising, no threat of bodily harm, nothing. Even Blitz reacted more than that. (Although to be fair to Millie’s lack of suspicions, at least enough to act on them, Blitz was kind of like that, too. He only really investigated shit not because he thought anything was wrong with Crimson but because Blitz was wondering how the fuck someone like Chaz scored with both Millie and Moxxie)

There’s also the fact that Millie has a loving family and good childhood can be made into angst. Maybe Millie feels like she has to be one ensuring everyone gets along and that she can’t tell them about things that bother her. All because everyone else is suffering so much worse and she feels that her problems are minimal in comparison. Or not confiding in people about her problems could even be because of her parents, since they actually had the gall to chastise Millie over losing to a psychopath they hired. I mean, we already get these things in fanfics, it would be nice to see if Viv and her crew makes it happen for real (as in, in canon)

So I repeat: I want Millie to have a spotlight episode. Not a tragic backstory or dark past. Just something about Millie that would get the woman her own episode

Moments of Stupidity 3

Surely by now, people get the gist of this so one last quick reminder before I stop doing it - I'm deciding to list characters being stupid throughout Helluva Boss because I'm thinking it's an universe full of idiots and I'll be posting these episode by episode. Now here we go!

Spring Broken -

Blitz when first encountering Verosika, by not opening the door on his way out of the van. It's not often that people legit forget to open the car door before leaving the vehicle

All of the imps of I.M.P. for not knowing that they needed disguises when doing their jobs up in the human world. Yeah, it ultimately doesn't matter whether or not they're disguised - and I think I'll cover that in future Moments of Stupidity posts because, yeah, the fact that disguises don't matter rely on characters being stupid - but here, in this episode, it matters. So how the fuck did Blitz not know that a masquerade needed to be upheld if he's the one who started this business? One would think that, if there's supposed to be consequences for being careless, then Blitz would make sure that he wouldn't be careless and would learn about important facts like a masquerade needs to kept so that he doesn't get fucking caught. How the fuck did Moxxie not know, since it's supposed to be established that he's a brainy assassin and is a stickler for rules? And how did Millie not know, either, since it's probably basic common sense to know about the laws of your society so that you wouldn't get in trouble? (Then again, that one also applies to Blitz and Moxxie, I just needed something for Millie). And they still don't get disguises when they go to the beach. They're just incredibly lucky that a good chunk of humans were already drunk or panicking from the fish monster to really think about imps on the beach or just really stupid themselves

I don't think I'll count in Loona because she sounded like she thought everyone else already knew and thought they were more intelligent than they actually were. Plus, she's more apathetic to anything that's not her phone or her other interests so I'm not counting moments that continue the plot due to apathy. Maybe the most stupid Loona gets here is not thinking about how she could get in trouble for her adoptive dad being so careless and she should have remembered what kind of man Blitz is and should have doublechecked if things were, so to speak, up to code. Loona's had at least 5 years with Blitz so she should have learned a thing or two about him by this episode or even by the first episode of season 1

Okay, so Verosika's gotten the most stupid moments, although her crew and Vortex are in on it, too, despite not thinking or realizing they were. But let's start with Verosika's first and biggest stupid moment, which is starting up an orgy on a public beach. Seriously, it wasn't a private beach or even a nude one. It was an ordinary public beach. As a result, it got the attention of the police and apparently, by the sounds of it, Verosika and her crew had to do sexual favors to avoid getting in trouble. What makes the stupidity even more pronounced is that Verosika, Vortex, and the crew know that they needed disguises, so they gotten them. Unless this episode is legit their very first time in the human world, they should know that humans don't just have sex out in the damn open. Even then, this stupidity is probably still more pronounced because any demon going to the human world probably has to learn about the basics do's and don't's so that they wouldn't get in trouble. They looked like it was a surprise when the police came, too, so it's like, did they not even plan a quick getaway before they got caught? Geez...

Verosika's next moment of stupidity, tossing the demon juice bottle into the ocean. Again, unless it's the very first time it's happened, Verosika should have known better than to toss demon substances where anyone and any creature of the human world could get fucking mutated. And if they get mutated, then it's incredibly obvious evidence that demons have been there. Seriously, if there's anything smart that I.M.P. has always done, especially in regards to their business, it's killing their targets like how any other human would, which makes it harder to pin down on anything demonic should the murders get noticed. A freaking demonic kaiju-sized fish monster that was caused by the Beelzebub juice was even harder to dismiss as anything other than it came from Hell and Verosika should have expected that and so shouldn't just carelessly toss her hellish alcohol

Third moment of stupidity on Verosika's part, trying to blackmail Blitz about the fish monster being killed by Millie. Sure, it was luck that Millie found the bottle but she got prompted by Verosika to turn the blackmail around. It probably wouldn't have ended on a sour note for Verosika if she never tried to blackmail I.M.P. Even without that, I.M.P. likely could have still gotten the cubi in trouble with the police and use that as the blackmail

As for Verosika's crew and also Vortex, they were stupid for the same reasons as Verosika herself when it came to holding an orgy on an ordinary public beach. And they should have told their boss that the way they were going about it was stupid. The fact it still happened the way it did indicated that they never even tried telling Verosika that the execution was stupid

Millie and Moxxie for just going ahead and killing humans without Loona or even Blitz. I mean, they were relying on Loona to find all the targets so I'm assuming they didn't know. Blitz even asked at one point if some random guy was on the list. So Millie and Moxxie are just being fucking random in their kills and it makes it pointless when Moxxie brings up that they're not meant to massacre. yet that's exactly what he and his wife did when they took initiative

Finally, all the fucking humans in this episode. Sure, they were drunk, and that makes it lucky for I.M.P., but would someone really confuse an imp for a possum or a leprechaun? Also, were all the humans on the beach drunk? Is that why all the humans around who saw Moxxie just thought of him as a possum and why the random guy who saw Blitz thought he was a leprechaun? Also, would you be able to confuse an imp for a possum or a leprechaun if you were drunk? I legit don't know how it's like to be drunk so could that happen? (And seriously, it's so stupid, the leprechaun thing. Blitz doesn't even have a single trace of green on him! Possum is already one thing and it already sounds so stupid! But leprechaun? What about Blitz's design that could resemble that?)

Blitz-Related Thoughts

That being said, this is NOT for Blitz fans and I guess not for Stolitz fans, either, since I’ll be touching on his relationship with Stolas down this post. Regardless, any fans of what I’m about to talk about, Blitz and Stolitz, you probably wanna pass on reading this. You all have been warned.

In any case, this is ultimately just me wanting to put down my thoughts because sometimes you just wanna let it out, especially where you would like people to have taken the time to check it out.

So Blitz is apparently a loved character amongst the fanbase. I at least read some fanfics that seriously. Then again, there’s bound to be plenty who don’t like him and I land hard in that camp. That’s probably why some of other people’s versions of Blitz is written in high regard. I even know a fanfic writer who really likes the guy and, not that it’s bad, I still enjoy reading their stuff, but I feel that their version of Blitz is better than canon Blitz. Like it’s not really Blitz, but someone else with the name, face, and backstory but not the same personality or something like that, thanks to their love for this character that I just do not have. Maybe, for the lack of a better way of saying this, but there’s versions of Blitz that’s nobler or kinder than the real Blitz

At the start, as in the pilot, it was like, okay, he’s an asshole but I tolerate this fine. I’ll just need to see how this goes. Then the first episode of the series proper comes on and I’m like, ‘what the fuck is with that threat at the end!?’. Then I tried reasoning that he’s a demon, he’s not supposed to be good. Except that’s probably trying to still like the show on my part.

Then the show went on and I grew to dislike him less and less and reasoning that he’s a demon doesn’t make his shit easier to stomach for me. Biggest offenders is the constant breaking ins despite how much Moxxie doesn’t like it, the verbal abuse and humiliations on the guy, even insulting his wife at times. Honestly, the fact that Moxxie’s MY favorite character and I’m mostly watching it for him by now doesn’t help with my feelings towards Blitz (although Unhappy Campers did have Moxxie be cringe-worthy as fuck, I can’t ignore that even if that was the whole point from the writers). But anyways, there’s ensuring that Verosika doesn’t let go of her grudge with his behavior all the while being pissed off that she hasn’t let it go, being way too lenient but also invasive with Loona and seemingly intending to rely on a young kid to pursue a fantasy of a wholesome family if the flashback in Seeing Stars is anything to go by, being rather hypocritical in being upset that Stolas just sees him as something to get off on. A means to an end, basically (I read a post saying all about how Blitz had the right to be upset with Stolas’s behavior, I fully agree with it, and I’ll get to Stolas in a bit but it’s still hypocritical on Blitz’s part thanks to The Circus)

I guess the difference is, despite knowing that I can’t hold Blitz to human standards because he’s not human, Vivienne still put qualities in him so that we can actually relate to him, right? We’re investing our time to watch new episodes so we need protagonists that you actually want to follow as they go about their journey. For anyone and everyone who likes Blitz, good for them, since I eventually learned that Blitz is one of the fucking stars of the show. But hey, at least Moxxie gets a good chunk of screentime so it’s not all that bad for me. (Granted, I would have liked Millie to get more screen time and they’ll answered with Unhappy Campers. Never bought into it much because I felt like the episode was written and cast in a way that made me feel like the writers wanted me to feel something. Like it was a cue for a certain emotion)

The writing for Blitz got so bad for me that he’s crying on the couch after being at Ozzie’s and I’m thinking ‘finally, he feels like shit'. Because yeah, it was obvious the writers wanted me to feel bad for Blitz only for it to completely fail me for me because he was such an unrepentant douchebag most of the time. I see Queen Bee and I still never gave a shit when he’s all ‘I’ll die alone’ when Loona takes him back to their apartment. And this is after seeing Exes and Oohs where I was finally starting to view Blitz as tolerable thanks to the flashback to when they first met. By the way, I was so happy to finally see why Moxxie never ditched Blitz as early as the start of season 1; I always knew there had to be a special reason and there was

My feelings for Blitz only go as far as wanting him to be better so that he can stop being such a fucking douchebag. Because yeah, people rarely ever get better on their own so they need people’s help and Blitz needs people who won’t abandon them (fuck, I pity them). But I’m incapable of looking at Blitz crying on the couch and think ‘poor thing, he deserves comfort’. I can never like someone who acts like a raging jerkass to those they claim is family. Being a jerkass to outsiders is one thing but to your own family? Nope. And I got no indication that Blitz wants to actually do anything about his problems. Just find new people - or even past people, if Barbie is any indication - to latch onto and be jerkasses towards them until they go away and rinse, repeat, and all that shit. If someone is in a cage and they can get out but don’t because it’s too hard, then it’s their own fault that they’re in the fucking cage. To put it another way, Blitz may not like dealing with feelings but if he really has to be dragged through the process kicking and screaming, then I’m eventually gonna stop caring that he’s tortured. Provided I still cared at this point

And speaking of Barbie, I read another post about how Blitz is just as much fault as her. (I think I have put likes on the two posts I mentioned so far, too, so maybe they’re easy enough to find if you can find my likes and go through them). Anyways, Blitz is just as bad and I couldn’t care that Barbie didn’t want anything to do with him because of two reasons. One, Blitz never cared about what Barbie wanted or needed, it was just him who mattered in the grand scheme of things. And two, I know shit about Barbie that I haven’t already found out like being an addict who has a history with rehab and having a rocky relationship with her brother at best. So I don’t feel as negatively strongly towards Barbie as I do towards Blitz, since the former has only a little over three minutes of screen time while I’ve followed the latter since the damn start of the show. That means I don’t really know how bad, exactly, Barbie is. I know shit about their shared past, too, so there’s that factor put into consideration

The thing is, I eventually wondered just what made Eustace from Courage the Cowardly Dog or Dan from Dan Vs. so different, since those are definite jerk characters. Yet the former I found tolerable and even funny at times and the latter I enjoyed every single second he was on screen. I think the difference is, with Eustace, the writers made sure he got as much shit as he gave. I guess there’s seeing his mom and brother, too, so there’s an understandable reason for Eustace being a jerkass. For Dan, there was something about the writing that I loved it every single second he was on screen. Maybe it’s because the world Dan lives in is so batshit insane that I can’t help but want to root for for a perpetually angry bastard. Even when he’s clearly not the good guy like wanting to blow up an animal shelter from across the street, there’s something about the writing and the acting that makes me love it. Plus, the situations are so crazy I want to know more about what can happen; seriously, I already came across cookie stealing ninjas and dental-themed supervillains and dancing zombie-like monsters and I love it all

So yeah, bottom line, repeating for clarity, the most concern I can give Blitz is wanting him to get better so that his current family will be better off. Otherwise, I can’t care if he’s just as awful towards family as he is towards anyone else and I can’t care about people who don’t actually try to help themselves, especially if it’s because they don’t want to deal with their problems and take literally any other method than the one that would work if it means avoiding the heart of the matter
