seeing the ‘indomitable human spirit’ trend a while ago made me realize if there’s one thing i love it’s just…intrinsically human things yk

like when you’re in a car and you see a cow or horse as you pass, someone is going to say “cow” even though everyone can clearly see it, there’s just a human urge to point it out

or when the sunset is rlly pretty we automatically want to take a picture we’ll likely never look at again. i did that the other day and i saw four other ppl doing the same thing and we all just smiled at eachother

it’s when one person orders a shirley temple and suddenly every one else in the immediate vicinity remembers it exists and does the same

it’s when you ask for a tampon every woman in the vicinity, whether or not they like you, will offer them if they have one

it’s seeing a group of wildly different strangers who are all crouched on the street petting the same little dog

it’s when a flight gets cancelled or people get snowed in and everyone finds a way to pass the time together

it was seeing others people leaning out their windows alongside me to clap/bang pots at 7pm to show support for healthcare workers during quarantine in nyc

it’s tourists always chatting friendly with each other even when they’ve just met simply because they’re both tourists

it’s when a kid does something endearing in public and two strangers smile at eachother like ‘are you seeing this?’

it’s craning your neck to overhear a fight in a restaurant only to look around and see everyone else doing the same thing too

it’s seeing people still try to catch snowflakes on their tongue when they think no one’s watching

there’s just so many things that we find solidarity in and they give me hope for the human race sometimes

I just wanted to practice with mirrors and with perspective
