For Those Of You Wondering What "tor" Means And Why I Use It: It's A Fictional Oath I Made For Sphaera!
For those of you wondering what "tor" means and why I use it: it's a fictional oath I made for Sphaera!
Watsonian explanation: "tor," often used in conjugation as "snowing tor," derives from the name of the Temoran underworld and is grammatically used equivalent to "hell." "Snowing tor" is an emphasis modifier -it could never snow in tor, thus the phrase is used primarily to express incredulity.
Doylist explanation: "tor" is derived from "torrid," since the underworld is a hot place, but it also has a more entertaining meta origin: the Rush song By-Tor and the Snow Dog! I've been a fan of Rush for a good decade now and their music has influenced the development of Sphaera -in particular its mythos. The Prince of Hell in that song is called By-Tor, so I interpreted it as a title and took the "tor" half as the name of hell.

That's right!! Actually, @xenomorphic-drone is the person responsible for the origin of Crundle! They showed me the Vinesauce clip and helped come up with the ridiculous lore that spawned the incomprehensible nonsense world that we know and love today. Thanks Xeno!!
How often do you dream about Tumblr?
Almost never, in fact. At least, as far as I remember, since most of my dreams just evaporate within an hour of waking. My dreams are incredibly bizarre and vivid, and usually make no sense in the light of day, but this one was a rare gem that not only cohered but was extremely funny
hey, so I saw on your bullet hole post you commenting on how difficult the amount of notifications was making things- you can stop notifications from one post specifically without it affecting any others! If you go into the three dots at the upper right corner, there’s an option to turn off notifications for that post specifically!
Sorry if you already know this and I’m being annoying, but I just thought I’d offer the help in case you needed it
I appreciate the tip, anon, but unfortunately that only mutes push notifications, not my tumblr notifications (at least on mobile). I don't get push notifs for tumblr in the first place, so all it does for me is give me the option to UNmute them and oh tor no thank you—
Lore Tuesday
So, a while ago, a community Discord server I was in had a thing called Lore Tuesday: every Tuesday in the daily questions channel you got a free pass to share a random nugget of information about your original world/story/characters. That server is effectively dead now, but I'm bringing Lore Tuesday here, because I miss it very much and it feels like a fun thing to do on the blog –especially considering I haven't actually posted much in the way of worldbuilding, historically speaking. I'm gonna try to post a random lore nugget every Tuesday, and tag it with #lore tuesday! Feel free to snag this idea yourselves if you so desire. :)
So fun story about my roommate
so last semester, my new roommate, without consulting anyone else, put up these stupid wall stickers. and I had to live with em alllll year.

(ignore the tapestry, that's mine)
so, end of the school year starts coming up, we're gonna have to take the damn things down anyway. so I decide to have some fun with it.
on sunday, while roomie was away at work, I took the stickers off the wall and started cutting up the letters. and this was what she found when she came home.

this was just above the couch, the first thing you'd see upon walking in the door. and my favorite of all, in the corner where the couch met the wall:

the next day, while I was in class, she came home and saw it. and promptly began acting like I did not exist.
It was the greatest week I'd had since moving in.
but only a week. one day, I texted our collective roommate group chat that I was taking an online test, and that I'd need quiet for about 2 hours or so. and when I finished, I left my room to find bare walls where my art once was, and a ball of letters in the trash can.

so I fished it out. and left this.

but I wasn't done quite yet. I fished out a couple favorites and put them back up in my room (partly bc I had gotten a bit attached to nut,)

now, you might notice that "tit" has lost its "s". that s now serves a greater purpose:
forming the word "penis" that I hid on the wall behind the couch before I moved out.
suffice to say, that roommate hasn't talked to me since.
