Toriel Week Day 6 - Happily Ever After

Hnnnfggg sorry this is a day late. It took like 21 hours haha. Anyways. I’ll post the last Toriel week thing tomorrow!! I know it’s technically over, but I wanna finish out on this one ^^

i have a lot of Thoughts(tm) about toriel now but like, god, i just had an incredibly sad realization at the dark hour of 4 am about why she spends so much time trying to save each child that passes through the ruins - she's not just trying to save them out of the kindness from her heart - she's trying to prevent another death.

maybe it's selfishness, maybe it's love, or both- but toriel's dialogue about asriel in one of the scrapped alarm clock dialogues - "Asriel ... I will never let you go again-" really got me thinking. she's trying to replicate her old life and do things differently. in a way, flowey is right, she is trying to replace you. but it's not her just trying to fill that void.

toriel's house is exactly the same as new home's. when asriel crossed the barrier with chara's soul, he would have had to go through the basement and through the barrier.

she is literally trying to prevent that from happening again. every time she takes you away from the basement, in her mind, she's not going to let that happen again. all she wants to do is to be able to save a single child. to prove that she didn't fail asriel. to prove that she wasn't a bad mother. if she can save even a single child, and raise them on her own, then it will be enough.

maybe, just maybe, if she's protective enough, if she's more careful, if she's more caring, then things can be different this time.

Toriel Week Day 5 - Friend

Sorry I couldn’t do anything bigger for today!! I’m on vacation right now and was busy getting pummeled by the ocean lMAO.

Anyways!!

I like to think that Toriel’s lil friend group consists of those who could actually meet her in the Ruins. Don’t get me wrong, the main cast is in there too!! I just like to imagine the Ruins gang hanging out to. Cause I need to spread my Nabstablook and Toriel friendship propaganda lol.

Muffet and Toriel didn’t actually meet face to face until waaaaaay after getting to the surface. But anyone who gives that much money to the Spider Bakesale is worth being friendly with in her book
