kris, susie, noelle & berdly childhood friends au

basically, au where the main four lightners (+dess and asriel, sometimes) were a very chaotic group of best friends growing up, and this fact changes a lot of stuff

so like, at first it was just kris and noelle, like in canon, except they never drifted apart after dess' dissapearance, n instead banded together even more so than before.

where it really starts to diverge is, around the time they were 7-8, which is when berdly joined the fray. i dont really have any solid idea on how he joins them, my best guess atm is like. kinda the same as in canon, where he was friends with noelle first and kris by association, and then with time they all became best buddies.

i imagine noelle asked him if they could invit kris to their study slash gaming sessions, and berdly was all like "pfft, THEM? lmao no." .....until he found out they were better at games than he was, and went "this is UNACCEPTABLE, im fixing this miscalculation ASAP!"

susie joins them last, when they were like 10. when she first moves into hometown w her family. so susie being susie, is being Literally Terrifying to everybody else, and all of the other kids are batshit scared of her and avoiding her.

....and then you have this trio of disasters who all have hardcore crushes on her. so shes trying to get them to fuck off, and shes so confused bc instead of being scared of her they kinda just,,, keep trying to hang out with her??? and carry her books and ask about her day and invite her to their sleepovers??? huh???????

eventually they get her to stop trying to scare them bc of her sheer confusion as to wtf theyre doing. this turns into proper friendship though, and the crushes kinda disappear or evolve even further, depending on the person lmao

so by the time canon rolls around, instead of toriel waking kris up, its susie barging in through their window half an hour before school to physically drag their half asleep ass to class, while noelle and berdly are waiting outside and laughing at their misery

their dynamic is pretty much the same as in canon, except

-"susan" and "nerdly" are old childhood nicknames that the other HATES and thats exactly why they keep using them.

-kris and berdly's "rivalry" is hard to take seriously when theyre constantly helping each other study, sitting in class together more often than not, and kicking each other's ass at the arcade

-noelle is such a timid person normally, but put together with the chaotic mess that is kris and it unlocks her more prankster side, and adding susie to that ramps it up to 11. poor berdly is more often than not the victim of these pranks

-even better if literally none of the other kids in hometown know that the four are friends??? they dont hide it or anything but their dynamic is so easily mistaken for actual enemies, esp w susie&berdly, that people are like "uh,,, so,,, ARE they friends or-"

-EVEN BETTER if the SOUL doesnt know that the kids are friends????? the soul expected a regular copy of deltarune only to get greeted by susie breaking into their house?????
