Teens Are Being Portrayed With Depth Because They Are Multidimensional, And They Deserve To Be Portrayed

Teens are being portrayed with depth because they are multidimensional, and they deserve to be portrayed as such.

[Brannon Braga - Supervising Producer]

“I think I was trying to make a statement about…evolution not necessarily being evolving toward higher organisms. That evolution may also be a de-evolution. You know, there’s kind of…we take it for granted that evolution means bigger brains, more technology, you know, more refined civilization, when in fact, for all we know, we’re evolving back toward a more primordial state, ultimately. Who can predict? Unfortunately, none of this came across in the episode, and all we were left with were some lizard things crawling around in the mud. So. It was not my shining moment.”

historical costume/fashion youtubers are always talking about how people are wrong about corsets and like i get that there’s a lot of misinformation and historical inaccuracy in how they’re depicted in films, like tightlacing on top of bare skin would never happen irl etc etc i get it, but then they’re like “what if people in the future talked about modern bras the way we talk about corsets!” and i’m just like… yeah what if huh!!! because modern bras suck too!

“corsets are just the precursors to modern bras, not elaborate torture devices” uh i don’t think that’s the defense you think it is… like most modern bras are restrictive and uncomfortable and designed not for support and comfort but to mold the body to an unnatural desired shape, most of them aren’t designed for you to be able to do strenuous physical activity or labor while wearing them. underwires do cause chafing and sores, the straps do sometimes cut into your shoulders and the band does cut into your ribs, especially if you don’t have the exact right size and most people don’t tbh because getting fitted properly is really difficult and your boobs change size drastically throughout the month. literally every person i know who wears bras talks about the sheer relief you feel in the moment you can finally take it off at the end of the day, that’s a pretty fucking universal experience. sure actresses talking about wearing corsets does tend to be a go-to soundbite in interviews and it probably gets more attention than it needs to because people like that narrative of framing historical societies as more primitive and misogynistic and restrictive than ours because it makes them feel better about contemporary society, but honestly the way they talk about having to wear corsets on set isn’t too far off from how a lot of people i know talk about having to wear bras every day lol
