We’re watching Enterprise for the first time and appreciating what a great job they’re doing depicting the timeframe Janeway’s describing. Also, really loving Enterprise!

Sometimes I just have overwhelming J7 ~feelings~ and sometimes they just end up wanting to manifest and who am I to say no?

“Seven is such a strong female character. There are so few of these roles that it’s really frightening. I’ve played so many victims and sweet young things and girl friends. There’s much more to life than being a victim or sweet young thing, both as a person and as an actress.”

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager
Okay, today I just don't feel like dealing with the gang, so I'll take a break, as it's been quite a lot in the last few days. So, let's move a bit further into the future today, with Star Trek: Voyager. I really like the series a lot, and there are many good episodes, but unfortunately also many filler episodes. Let's see how long I can stand the technobabble. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting a breath of Voyager air again, especially because of the brilliant episode in Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Considering how old the episodes are already, they really have great special effects. I'm already having a lot of fun, and the first episode has only been running for a few minutes.
I will also do this like with The Big Bang Theory, as a kind of diary, although I won't be able to accomplish as much in one day since the episodes are much longer. But writing helps me a lot and helps me sort out many things.
TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager II
Alright, I've managed to stick with it until the beginning of Episode 7 of the first season, and I'm actually a bit surprised by how much fun I've had. Sure, I naturally enjoy the series, but during the first episode, I was already considering doing a bit of pick watching. Essentially, just the first two episodes, a few in the middle, and then the two endgame episodes.

But no, I'll see how far I get for now and then we'll see. So far, though, I'm feeling good about it, and yes, I was also thrilled to see DS9 in the first episode; it's just my favorite Star Trek series.
And the technobabbel is really strong with the crew of the Voyager!
TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager III
Today we're starting with Episode 15 of the first season. I still feel quite comfortable on board the Voyager, considering that I had some bad memories of the series and really only did pick watching last time.
What I find interesting is the fact that several themes are already addressed in the first season, both directly and indirectly. Mass murder, identity finding, and even the famous Spock adage "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
I don't think this was quite handled the same way in other series, but here, a double episode is often used as a transition to the next season, and I can still remember that there were some intense episodes there. Also, I'm looking forward to Species 8472 because here they've thought about it and come to the conclusion that there are species that are far superior to the Borg.

But I don't even want to start on the Borg now, otherwise I'll start to get worked up again about Star Trek: Picard, and that wouldn't be nice at all!
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager V
I've reached the end of the second season by now, but I've almost completely skipped at least three episodes (for the reasons I mentioned in the last post). These filler episodes just aren't for me, even though they certainly have their purpose. But for me, they simply don't contribute much to the overarching story or the characters. Additionally, the writers are given too much time and freedom in these episodes, resulting in some rather strange things.
Speaking of strange things, I also got through "Threshold" at the end of Season 2. An episode that starts off incredibly well, and with the fact that at Warp 10 you're practically omnipresent, there could have been a lot to explore. But now I just wonder if Janeway and Paris's children are doing well.
However, it did feature one of the best dialogues:
Captain: "Can you wake him?" Doctor: "I don't see why not." "Wake up, Lieutenant!!!"
In the same episode, I noticed that millions of gigaquads of data were loaded into the memory core again. Does anyone ever defragment that? Or even look at it? (Previously, due to distortion, there were already 20 million gigaquads of data!!)
Also, I found it odd that the shuttle was only three days away even though it was practically everywhere at the same time. Coincidence??
However, this season featured a reunion with Q (John de Lancie). After his reintroduction in Star Trek: Picard Season 2 and the way he was mistreated in such an impossible manner, sorry to put it that way, it was nice to see him in full glory. I'm still angry about how everything in Picard Season 2 was handled, it's disgusting!!

Now, the third season is right around the corner, and I'll start it tonight as well. The Borg should be making their first appearance soon, and then Species 8472 won't be far behind! Yes, there's still a lot to come, including the Borg Queen making an appearance. So much good stuff, full speed ahead!
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VI
New day, new Star Trek: Voyager episodes. Season 3 Episode 10 is currently where things stand. I'm just contemplating, I think I slept a bit too well last night, even if it was just for a short while.
What I've noticed is that there are several levels of chaos. Sometimes the camera just shakes a little, but not much else happens. The next level is when the camera shake includes crew members tumbling through the decks. Real chaos is on the way when a strand of Janeway's carefully put together hair is hanging loose. Then the ship is about to fall apart.
We've already completed a two-part episode, and it was quite good, involving time travel. It was a nice lead-up to the episode with Seven of Nine working for the time ship Relativity.
In the current episode (S3E10), in the German dub, Kes's voice is made to sound extra harsh or altered, which is terrible because the voice is already very grating, as she uses way too much vocal fry! But Kes isn't really a popular character anyway, at least not for me, so I'm glad that after this season she's done.
Let's see what else is to come; there's still a lot swirling around in my head regarding some episodes. I'm not 100% sure when Seven of Nine appears, but I'll be surprised!

TV Show - Star Trek Voyager VII
So, I really had to think again about everything that happened in this block, as we're nearing the end of the third season! Also, I did a bit of tidying up on the side and apparently didn't catch as much as I thought I did.
Once we had the episode where there were two time-shifted Voyagers, and Harry went from one Voyager to the other and took the baby. I still find it strange that absolutely nobody talks about it or finds it even remotely odd.
Phew, the episode where Kes was supposed to enter a biotemporal chamber and the Doctor chose van Gogh as a name, BIG PHWEW!! (Yeah, glimpse into the future is great but I don't know, it's too much!)
Moving on! There was another Q episode, and my heart melted. And not just because of Janeway's jealous look when Q and Q united, glorious moment!

I also really liked the connection to Star Trek: The Next Generation, the episode was a lot of fun. I really enjoy it when the different series are interconnected, which is why I'm such a fan of Star Trek: Lower Decks; alongside Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, they've perfectly grasped this concept!
In Episode 16 of the third season, we could indeed address the fact that the Borg appear for the first time, BUT can we talk about the Doctor becoming a Holo Pimp? Mind-blowing!
Overall, I think it's always good that they don't try to focus on everyone at once, but instead keep focusing on different parts of the crew. I find it refreshing; it allows for others to develop further and there's room for everyone.
Only in the current episode, which I mentioned earlier, something seems off with the dates, right? Kes is nine years old or is nearing the end of her ninth year, but why is Harry's son much older? And the daughter, being half-human half-Ocampa, should still be much younger, right? All very confusing!
I'll keep watching for a bit longer and see how far I get today.
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VIII
Today we're starting off big because I didn't finish the third season, so we're diving straight into Species 8472, which is great. But what's behind us?
We had a very emotional episode with the Doctor, where he creates a perfect family for himself and then quickly realizes, through modifications, what a real family is. I thought it was a really good episode that also showed where the Doctor's journey should go.
Episode 23 was also interesting because it reminded me of how facts have been handled in the recent years of our time. And of course, in the years before that too, but here, things were processed that hadn't happened yet back then, and I thought it was important to address such topics.
Before we get to the current episode, we had a very good "What if…?" episode, although I was a little concerned about Martha Hackett (Seska) here because she looked extremely thin. All the female actors do, but that was pretty intense, although with Seven of Nine, it's going to be even more extreme.

So, onto the episode currently airing, where my Voyager journey begins today, Scorpion Part 1! I think it's very good that they've taken it a step further here and said, "Okay, we need a species that's even more hardcore than the Borg, so that humans have to ally with the Borg!" It's a bit like the story of the frog and the scorpion trying to cross a river! (OH! Okey, Chakotay told the story few seconds after I wrote this. I know it with a frog and a scorpion, he told it with a fox and a scorpion.)
But I have to admit once again that Voyager is really fun, and I had remembered it differently here and there. I'm looking forward to all that's to come because even though I actually know what's coming, since I've watched it all before, there are still things, as I realized last night, that I've forgotten.
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager IX
Office days are never good for watching Voyager, you always start so late! But that's complaining at a high level, if I'm being completely honest.
Today I started with Episode 14 of Season 4, "Message in a Bottle." I like the design of the Prometheus, it has something fresh and new about it, even though the pillars in the sickbay somehow seem familiar to me. Did they borrow them from the set of DS9?
I've also watched "Year of Hell," and damn, was that two-parter good. Yes, the series has its flaws overall, no question about it, but episodes like these make it all worth watching, and I know there's still a lot more to come.
John Rhys-Davies as da Vinci is worth mentioning as well, a true delight, and we've seen him in the role before. You can definitely call it ideal casting.
Before the above-mentioned episode, some interesting themes were also addressed:
Propaganda and what it does to us (Nemesis S4E04)
Experiments on humans (Scientific Method S4E07)
What happens after death? (Mortal Coil S4E12) Just to name a few, and from this perspective, Voyager is incredibly diverse!
Unfortunately, there will soon be a change in the German dubbing voice for Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris), and that's already annoying me. In English, that's not a problem, but in German, only relatively few voices are used for all the actors, which often leads to duplications. Just for comparison, at the moment, Tom Paris has the voice of Tom Vogt, who regularly voices Laurence Fishburn. I've already gotten used to that, and it fits pretty well. But from the fifth season onwards, he will be voiced by Erich Räuker, which means Tom Paris will sound like Richard Dean Anderson (Stargate SG-1). It's not about the actors themselves, please don't get me wrong. It's about the fact that the dubbing directors make such rather unwise decisions, much to the viewer's detriment. Also, often only well-known voices are cast, although there are enough different voices available. But one speaker usually has several regular actors, which drives one insane.

Well, now the Doctor still has his final appearance, and then let's see what else awaits us today. As I've mentioned so many times before, I still enjoy the whole thing.
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager X
Three days on a business trip and now it's back to the Voyager!
Starting off with a pretty boring episode, at least for me, but then it went straight into a Doctor episode. The boring episode was "Unforgettable," which I found somewhat unremarkable, even though the "ability" of the mentioned species was quite interesting, but somehow they didn't make much of it. Yes, that might also be because I'm not really into bad love stories. Fortunately, I was really drawn back in with the Doctor episode "Living Witness," and yeah, I always really enjoy such episodes, even though my favorite role of Robert Picardo's is The Cowboy from "Innerspace" (1987). Of course, he's also worth mentioning because of his role in Stargate, that shouldn't be forgotten.
Interestingly, we haven't seen B'Elanna for a long time (due to the actress' pregnancy she doesn't appear as often), so I was quite surprised when she showed up at the beginning of "Demon" (S4E24). It's always interesting how the focus is placed on some characters because of their real-life circumstances, and how that is then incorporated into the story. Sure, it's actually quite simple, but I still find it fascinating!

Not sure if I'll finish the fourth season today since I'm pretty tired, but let's see how far I'll get.
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager XI
Today, I took some time to focus on movies (Hellraiser, 2022 | Uncharted, 2022 | Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, 2023). Voyager dominated yesterday, except for a little excursion into the Mission: Impossible universe.
So far, the fifth season of Voyager is impressing me, and I've skipped a lot less than in previous seasons. By now, the Borg Queen has already made her first appearance. It surprised me because I had to realize that the Borg Queen is played by Susanna Thompson, whom I last saw as Colonel Mann in NCIS. I was amazed and excited at the same time.
There are more conflicts regarding Starfleet regulations, which I find interesting. It often raises the question of whether one could ignore certain rules, as the saying goes, "Where there's no judge, there's no executioner!" I like that this is continually addressed. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to, thankfully only minor, incidents of double standards. Where, for the sake of some storylines, certain things are bent a bit. I don't like that part so much, even if it serves the drama.
Captain Proton is now also part of the crew, and we've even experienced a merging of realities with these holodeck adventures (S5E12).

Tonight, I'll continue with Episode 16 (Dark Frontier II), and since I can't remember exactly what happened back then, I'm curious about the outcome. Slowly but steadily, we're also moving towards "Endgame," and I'm particularly looking forward to that episode or double episode! But I also know that there will be several episodes with children who are somehow picked up. Although I find the Naomi Wildman episodes quite cute, I might skip a few here and there. I'm just not that big a fan of them!
TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager XII
After work, I wanted to start Voyager, and what can I say, I think I had a slight overdose.
I managed to watch Course: Oblivion (S5E18), and then it was over. Right after that, there was an episode where Chakotay was sent into the boxing ring, and the shouting annoyed me, so I fast-forwarded to the end. I started the next episode, but somehow nothing was going into my head.
I've enjoyed the rewatch a lot, but I think I should take a few days off and focus on something else. I've already found something else to watch, but I'll talk about that in another post.

However, I don't want to hide the fact that I might still be a little annoyed about The Imperfects thing from yesterday. You find something new that captivates you and is fun, and then it gets canceled by Netflix. I just hate it so much. How are you supposed to build a relationship with something when it ends abruptly? Can't they at least find a decent conclusion? Is that too much to ask? Yesterday, after downgrading my account a few weeks ago, I was close to canceling the subscription altogether because I'm just tired of this kind of thing!
TV Show - Dr. House | House M.D.
So, there was a little break because I dedicated myself to another medium (manga) for two days, but I'm not sure if I'll dedicate a few posts to it, let's see.

But as I mentioned before, as a subtle replacement for Voyager, I've started watching another series that's running alongside, Dr. House. When I recently added my DVDs to a database, I had the DVDs in my hands again and felt like rewatching. However, I must admit that this thought quickly disappeared. But then Dr. House appeared on Prime and I seized the opportunity.
Unfortunately, it's not as enjoyable as I had hoped because, as you know, Prime now includes ads in their standard package (Voyager didn't have ads because it came from the Paramount+ channel on Prime), and it's really annoying. Most of the time, there are one or two breaks per episode, and I actually stopped watching regular TV because these interruptions, which can last up to 10 minutes on German TV, are just incredibly annoying. Enough of that before I board the rage train!
Dr. House is fun, and the team dynamics are very interesting, especially when you see who covers for whom or who snitches to Cuddy about whom. Of course, I also know what's coming, where House ends up, and what he does in the last season (which I find out of character or very exaggerated). But for now, we're still sailing in shallow waters, because right now, it's just about the $100 million from Vogler. Tough decisions have to be made, and some liars are exposed.
One of my favorite episodes is still to come, the one where some medical students are told three stories, one of which is how House lost the muscle in his leg. But also, the season in which his new team is formed is interesting, and not just because Olivia Wilde (Thirteen) joins.

But I'm also looking forward to all the facets that the character and the series have to offer. "Everybody lies!" is one of his principles, which implies that he lies too. But then there's also the question of whether you can separate the doctor persona from the character persona? Do you wish for a doctor with all that know-how but want to skip the character traits? Lots of things go through your mind, at least through mine.
But what I also like, warning: tech nerd alert, is on one hand his taste in music and the fact that he likes to listen to vinyl records (this happens in several episodes), and on the other hand, his tube TV with a cable connection or even antenna reception. Unfortunately, not so easily possible here in Germany anymore, but when I used to work in a fixed job in the office, I always wished for something like that. A small, old-fashioned tube TV running in the background. Then it's easier to bear the constant chatter of colleagues in the open-plan office!
So, off to the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro and let's enjoy the extraordinary cases of the diagnostics department.
