Seven Is Such A Strong Female Character. There Are So Few Of These Roles That Its Really Frightening.

“Seven is such a strong female character. There are so few of these roles that it’s really frightening. I’ve played so many victims and sweet young things and girl friends. There’s much more to life than being a victim or sweet young thing, both as a person and as an actress.”

Jeri Ryan, Star Trek Voyager magazine #14 nov. 1997

Firstly sorry this is very long. Secondly I made this dark frontier comic 2 years ago as a speed drawing MS paint challenge (x). It’s been rediscovered so I figured I’d redo it a little better.  For superficialmycosis.

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager

Okay, today I just don't feel like dealing with the gang, so I'll take a break, as it's been quite a lot in the last few days. So, let's move a bit further into the future today, with Star Trek: Voyager. I really like the series a lot, and there are many good episodes, but unfortunately also many filler episodes. Let's see how long I can stand the technobabble. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting a breath of Voyager air again, especially because of the brilliant episode in Star Trek: Lower Decks.

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager

Considering how old the episodes are already, they really have great special effects. I'm already having a lot of fun, and the first episode has only been running for a few minutes.

I will also do this like with The Big Bang Theory, as a kind of diary, although I won't be able to accomplish as much in one day since the episodes are much longer. But writing helps me a lot and helps me sort out many things.

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager II

Alright, I've managed to stick with it until the beginning of Episode 7 of the first season, and I'm actually a bit surprised by how much fun I've had. Sure, I naturally enjoy the series, but during the first episode, I was already considering doing a bit of pick watching. Essentially, just the first two episodes, a few in the middle, and then the two endgame episodes.

But no, I'll see how far I get for now and then we'll see. So far, though, I'm feeling good about it, and yes, I was also thrilled to see DS9 in the first episode; it's just my favorite Star Trek series.

And the technobabbel is really strong with the crew of the Voyager!

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager III

Today we're starting with Episode 15 of the first season. I still feel quite comfortable on board the Voyager, considering that I had some bad memories of the series and really only did pick watching last time.

What I find interesting is the fact that several themes are already addressed in the first season, both directly and indirectly. Mass murder, identity finding, and even the famous Spock adage "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

I don't think this was quite handled the same way in other series, but here, a double episode is often used as a transition to the next season, and I can still remember that there were some intense episodes there. Also, I'm looking forward to Species 8472 because here they've thought about it and come to the conclusion that there are species that are far superior to the Borg.

But I don't even want to start on the Borg now, otherwise I'll start to get worked up again about Star Trek: Picard, and that wouldn't be nice at all!

TV Shows - Star Trek: Voyager IV

Episode 11 of Season 2, and it's getting stranger and stranger. I'm not sure if it's the same in English, but in the German order, the episode 7 from the above season is an inserted episode because Captain Janeway suddenly has her new hairstyle, which only appears later. Also, some things are mentioned that don't exist at this point in time.

Otherwise, I always wonder why this and that are coming now, or I'm surprised about it. It's somehow interesting how memories are stored or how they change over time. Fortunately, there haven't been any Borg yet, they can stay away for a while longer, even though I have nothing against Seven of Nine, but thanks to Picard, I'm quite tired of the Borg. BUT I've seen a few Jem'Hadar ships, and that always pleases me because they have too small a place in the Star Trek universe, considering they started a galactic war.

I love the fact, that The Doctor gets a bit more screen time in some episodes and you can see how he tries to evolve and become more human. He is the Data of the Delta quadrant.

But I also have to admit, that I skipped two episodes almost entirely. To boring, to less action and just a few character development plots. I know Voyager has some of those episodes, we'll see how I handle them in the higher Seasons.

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager V

I've reached the end of the second season by now, but I've almost completely skipped at least three episodes (for the reasons I mentioned in the last post). These filler episodes just aren't for me, even though they certainly have their purpose. But for me, they simply don't contribute much to the overarching story or the characters. Additionally, the writers are given too much time and freedom in these episodes, resulting in some rather strange things.

Speaking of strange things, I also got through "Threshold" at the end of Season 2. An episode that starts off incredibly well, and with the fact that at Warp 10 you're practically omnipresent, there could have been a lot to explore. But now I just wonder if Janeway and Paris's children are doing well.

However, it did feature one of the best dialogues:

Captain: "Can you wake him?" Doctor: "I don't see why not." "Wake up, Lieutenant!!!"

In the same episode, I noticed that millions of gigaquads of data were loaded into the memory core again. Does anyone ever defragment that? Or even look at it? (Previously, due to distortion, there were already 20 million gigaquads of data!!)

Also, I found it odd that the shuttle was only three days away even though it was practically everywhere at the same time. Coincidence??

However, this season featured a reunion with Q (John de Lancie). After his reintroduction in Star Trek: Picard Season 2 and the way he was mistreated in such an impossible manner, sorry to put it that way, it was nice to see him in full glory. I'm still angry about how everything in Picard Season 2 was handled, it's disgusting!!

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager V

Now, the third season is right around the corner, and I'll start it tonight as well. The Borg should be making their first appearance soon, and then Species 8472 won't be far behind! Yes, there's still a lot to come, including the Borg Queen making an appearance. So much good stuff, full speed ahead!

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VI

New day, new Star Trek: Voyager episodes. Season 3 Episode 10 is currently where things stand. I'm just contemplating, I think I slept a bit too well last night, even if it was just for a short while.

What I've noticed is that there are several levels of chaos. Sometimes the camera just shakes a little, but not much else happens. The next level is when the camera shake includes crew members tumbling through the decks. Real chaos is on the way when a strand of Janeway's carefully put together hair is hanging loose. Then the ship is about to fall apart.

We've already completed a two-part episode, and it was quite good, involving time travel. It was a nice lead-up to the episode with Seven of Nine working for the time ship Relativity.

In the current episode (S3E10), in the German dub, Kes's voice is made to sound extra harsh or altered, which is terrible because the voice is already very grating, as she uses way too much vocal fry! But Kes isn't really a popular character anyway, at least not for me, so I'm glad that after this season she's done.

Let's see what else is to come; there's still a lot swirling around in my head regarding some episodes. I'm not 100% sure when Seven of Nine appears, but I'll be surprised!

TV Show - Star Trek Voyager VII

So, I really had to think again about everything that happened in this block, as we're nearing the end of the third season! Also, I did a bit of tidying up on the side and apparently didn't catch as much as I thought I did.

Once we had the episode where there were two time-shifted Voyagers, and Harry went from one Voyager to the other and took the baby. I still find it strange that absolutely nobody talks about it or finds it even remotely odd.

Phew, the episode where Kes was supposed to enter a biotemporal chamber and the Doctor chose van Gogh as a name, BIG PHWEW!! (Yeah, glimpse into the future is great but I don't know, it's too much!)

Moving on! There was another Q episode, and my heart melted. And not just because of Janeway's jealous look when Q and Q united, glorious moment!

TV Show - Star Trek Voyager VII

I also really liked the connection to Star Trek: The Next Generation, the episode was a lot of fun. I really enjoy it when the different series are interconnected, which is why I'm such a fan of Star Trek: Lower Decks; alongside Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, they've perfectly grasped this concept!

In Episode 16 of the third season, we could indeed address the fact that the Borg appear for the first time, BUT can we talk about the Doctor becoming a Holo Pimp? Mind-blowing!

Overall, I think it's always good that they don't try to focus on everyone at once, but instead keep focusing on different parts of the crew. I find it refreshing; it allows for others to develop further and there's room for everyone.

Only in the current episode, which I mentioned earlier, something seems off with the dates, right? Kes is nine years old or is nearing the end of her ninth year, but why is Harry's son much older? And the daughter, being half-human half-Ocampa, should still be much younger, right? All very confusing!

I'll keep watching for a bit longer and see how far I get today.

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VIII

Today we're starting off big because I didn't finish the third season, so we're diving straight into Species 8472, which is great. But what's behind us?

We had a very emotional episode with the Doctor, where he creates a perfect family for himself and then quickly realizes, through modifications, what a real family is. I thought it was a really good episode that also showed where the Doctor's journey should go.

Episode 23 was also interesting because it reminded me of how facts have been handled in the recent years of our time. And of course, in the years before that too, but here, things were processed that hadn't happened yet back then, and I thought it was important to address such topics.

Before we get to the current episode, we had a very good "What if…?" episode, although I was a little concerned about Martha Hackett (Seska) here because she looked extremely thin. All the female actors do, but that was pretty intense, although with Seven of Nine, it's going to be even more extreme.

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VIII

So, onto the episode currently airing, where my Voyager journey begins today, Scorpion Part 1! I think it's very good that they've taken it a step further here and said, "Okay, we need a species that's even more hardcore than the Borg, so that humans have to ally with the Borg!" It's a bit like the story of the frog and the scorpion trying to cross a river! (OH! Okey, Chakotay told the story few seconds after I wrote this. I know it with a frog and a scorpion, he told it with a fox and a scorpion.)

But I have to admit once again that Voyager is really fun, and I had remembered it differently here and there. I'm looking forward to all that's to come because even though I actually know what's coming, since I've watched it all before, there are still things, as I realized last night, that I've forgotten.
