bartylus works well in every universe because they are two sides of the same coin - they match each other loyalty, devotion and freak. neither have to change each other for someone else, they grow as a pair and worships every inch of each other, that's including the good and the bad.

bartylus is the i'll fill your cup if you fill mine, but i'll never overflow it. bartylus is also the i'll take your load and wash it, over and over again but i'll never change you. they work because they understand each other in a deeper level, with abandonment, with family issues, with what they believe in without fearing that the other will leave.

My head canon Hogwarts-era Lily Evans is not self-deprecating, shy, bashful, or demure. There’s nothing wrong with writing her this way, and I love plenty of fan fictions that depict her as such. 

But I have a problem w. this & it’s only until recently that I’ve figured out why. Lily is fiery & headstrong & brave, & I feel that her romance w. James wasn’t born out of months of repressing feelings for him. I don’t think their relationship started out (or continued, for that matter) full of angst & self-denial. I think that when Lily saw James change, she went for him, & I think their relationship was a fun one. I’ve never imagined Lily Evans as being shy & doubting James - Sirius himself says she always saw the beauty in others, & I think she saw the good in James that was clouded by his immaturity (he was immature, not evil, not spiteful - a bully, absolutely. Evil, never.)I envision Lily & James as being 2 sides of the same coin, equal partners who complimented each other & embodied what true love is. She didn’t deny herself something beautiful w. James Potter, & I can’t imagine that James would ever have let Lily down.

I think I love James & Lily so much because they were good people who knew that time is precious & the future is unknowable - they grabbed life by the horns & enjoyed every moment they had together. They were noble & loving people who lit up every room they walked into, & I WILL NEVER FORGIVE JK ROWLING FOR KILLING THEM WOW

bartylus but it's barty left all alone after regulus dies in the cave, never really understanding why regulus left, but wondering if it's his fault over and over again until his mind finally cracks under the pressure and he's left with the worst parts of him making up a shell of a man.
