Sneak Peak Of A Dorian X Fem! Reader Series?
Sneak Peak of a Dorian x Fem! Reader Series?
When one has gaps in their memories, especially childhood memories, it's often due to trauma. Your brain blocks it out for you so that your emotions and personality aren't consciously affected by the trauma.
I can't remember anything from that night. All I can remember is the stickiness on my face, wether it was blood or tears I can't recall. I remember the frigid, icy wind and the stabbing of grains of sand into my skin. I remember the snapping sound of a flimsy frozen metal as the locket I was given on my sixth birthday only days before.
I only remember that last one because I have it still. It lies in a small crevice in the corner of a music box, except on days where I am especially anxious. Those days it spends curled around my fingers as I hold on for dear life as if I could transfer all my negative feelings into it.
🔶️
"Y/n!" I jumped as Aleera's voice snapped me out of my trance. The broken locket slipped from my fingers and coiled onto the marble table beneath me.
"Brulin says it's time for your lessons to begin." She nears me, reaching her hands out for me to grab. I slip my hands into hers and seek comfort in the familiar calluses on her fingertips. They're from the sewing.
"It's a little early isn't it?" I ask as she uses her hands to guide me into a standing position.
"He thought you'd want to get them over with to celebrate your birthday." Aleera explained and a smile grew on my face.
"And the Prince is okay with being disturbed this early for rescheduled classes?"
"You know the Prince would much rather be finished early and celebrate your birthday with you than get to sleep in." She dismisses and ushers me towards the door. I roll my eyes despite knowing that she speaks the truth.
"Alas, he has too many princely duties to spend any time with me." I whine and she chuckles.
"I'm wounded you would think so lowly of me, Lady." Dorian spoke up and after getting over my shock at his presence I glared at him only for him to chuckle in return.
"Alright, you two. Get to Brulin now and enjoy yourselves. Do be here for lunch, Y/n." Aleera kisses my temple and Dorian reached out his arm for me. With a smile I slip my arm through his and curl my hand around his bicep.
We enter the halls outside of the Klayden Residential Chambers and begin walking towards the library when he leans his head close to my own.
"Happy Birthday, Y/n." He mutters and presses a short kiss to my temple causing me to giggle.
As the library nears, our morning chatter begins to slow.
"Are you sure you want to do any classes at all today?" He asks and I giggle.
"And how do you propose we escape our educational obligations?" I teased, but his face was deadly serious.
"I'm the Crown Prince. What is anyone going to do about it?"

hey! saw you were new-ish n wanted to request something! could you do Sirius with a badass reader? who absolutely does not put up with his shit? like plays quidditch and is notoriously the bad girl! if they get together or not is your choice, i just love me some pining boys
A/n: I most definitely can! Sorry this took so long hun xx Hope you enjoy and again, all feedback and/or constructive criticism is welcome, but please be polite 🧡
Servant-hood
The first round of quidditch tryouts in their fifth year was coming up and Y/n and James were to choose the new members.
While James was excited about this job, Y/n L/n was wracked with nerves; what if she didn't pick right and let the team down?
Nevertheless, they were nerves that she wouldn't let show.
She was a badass, she couldn't let weakness show, but keeping all her nerves bottled up was making her a lot shorter with people than she usually was.
Especially a certain Marauder that tended to put her on edge even when she wasn't filled with anxiety.
Y/n finished pulling on her boots and shrugged on her robes, heading down for breakfast with her friends.
"You just need something to take the edge of Y/n!" Axel told her as they entered the great hall.
"Don't tell me what I need Lucas." She snapped and he shook his head.
"Don't call me by my last name." He quipped back and Lola laughed.
"Besides, there's not much that helps that I could use three days before quidditch tryouts. I need my head about me." Y/n reasoned as the three of them took a seat at the Gryffindor table.
"Oh no Y/n, I can get us some Firewhisky for tonight. It'll help you relax for now and you'll be perfectly fine on Saturday." Lola told us and Y/n opened her mouth to agree when a voice came from behind them.
"I don't understand how you lot even got into Gryffindor. Listen to yourselves." A shrill voice rang out.
The trio turned around and glared at an auburn haired Marlene McKinnon.
"I don't remember asking McKinnon. Now move along before one of us kicks your arse again." Y/n growled.
"Yeah, because any of you could beat Marlene." Dorcas came to her defence and Axel rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh.
"Do you need a little reminder of what happened last time?" He threatened and Y/n and Lola gave innocent smiles.
"Whatever, don't mess the team up for Gryffindor, L/n." Marlene rolled her eyes, but walked off a little sheepishly.
"That was oddly gentlemanly of you, Axel," Y/n rested a hand on his forehead as they turned back to their food, "you feeling okay?"
He grabbed her wrist and pushed her hand away.
"Shut up." He muttered, a blush tinting his cheeks.
Lola gave him a knowing look and he only shook his head.
"Ello Y/n." An obnoxious, deep voice sounded.
"Dear Merlin, it is impossible to have a peaceful breakfast around here." Y/n complained and pointedly ignored the call.
"C'mon Y/n, don't be like that. I'm beautiful, you're beautiful, it just works." Sirius Black wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind as he spoke.
"Get your arms off me, Black, before I break them." She spoke stiffly through gritted teeth.
He retracted his arms so fast, you might think he was genuinely afraid of her pulling her wand on him.
"Let's not be hasty here. I only came to ask a favour." Sirius held his hands up in surrender.
"What makes you think we'd ever do you a favour Black?" Axel spat, venomously, shifting an inch or two closer to Y/n.
"No no, you've got it all wrong. I only want a favour from our dear N/n here." He patted her head and she slapped his hand away.
"Don't call me that. What do you want?" She hissed and he chuckled nervously.
"The quidditch trials are soon. I really want to get on the team. Please, please teach me?" He asked and Y/n shook her head.
"No way. Get your buddy Potter to do it."
"He's busy and I only have three days!" Sirius protested desparately.
"I'm busy!" She argued and he stared skeptically.
"With what?" He questioned.
"With a life." And with that she turned around and went back to her food.
Sirius turned on his heel and walked away defeatedly.
"How'd it go?" Remus asked as he joined Sirius on the walk out of the Great Hall.
"She's never gonna notice me Moony! It's hopeless." He rubbed his hand over his face as he spoke.
"It's not hopeless." Remus started only to be cut off.
"It is! She has no interest in me! All she cares about is those stupid friends of hers. What do I do Moony?" He stopped walking and shook his friends shoulders.
"Well let's start with not breaking my neck," Remus began, pushing Sirius' arms away, "and there's clearly only one option."
"There is?" Remus shrugged and nodded.
"Beg."
🔸️
Later the same day, Y/n sat by Axel in Transfiguration.
She was leant back in her seat with her feet on the table and her hands behind her head, Axel doing the same, but instead of supporting his head, he was doing his work.
Something hit the back of her head and she turned to see a balled up piece of parchment on the floor by her chair.
Looking around she saw Black pointing and gesturing to open the note.
She rolled her eyes and turned back to the front, only for another piece of parchment to hit her moments later.
She whipped her head around and brought her feet to the floor with a glare only to see Sirius with his hands clasped together, frantically mouthing 'Please!'
She reached down with an exasperated sigh and grabbed the ball.
She uncrumpled the note and read over it.
'Please L/n, I'll do anything. Name your price.'
She gave a smirk to Axel and scribbled something down on the parchment before balling it back up and throwing it back.
"Miss L/n, Mister Black, something you'd like to share with the class?" Professor McGonagall snapped.
"No, no not really." Y/n said simply, putting her feet back on the desk.
"L/n and Lucas would you please get your feet off my desks." Though as she spoke, she knew her mistake.
This was Y/n and Axel.
"No can do Prof." They declared in sync before snickering a little.
McGonagall opened her mouth to reply, but closed it again, knowing her attempts were going to be futile.
The class was nearly finished anyway.
As they walked out of the classroom Sirius yelled Y/n's name through the crowd.
"You go ahead Ax, I'll catch up with you later." She pushed him forward with her arm and turned to face Sirius.
She smiled in a fake-sweet manner, "Yes?"
"Your price! Servant life?" He exclaimed, demanding explanation, flailing his arms about dramatically.
"Yes. You do what I say for the rest of today and tomorrow, and I'll train you up on Friday in time for the tryouts on Saturday." She walked at a fast pace as she talked, not even looking at him.
"Really?" While it sounded awful in theory, it would give him an excuse to hang around the girl he's been harbouring a crush on for the past two years.
"Everything I say."
"You aren't gonna ask me to kill someone are you?" He joked and she glared at him.
"Come find me at lunch Black. Have some salad on my plate for me, and some pumpkin juice." She began to walk away and he grabbed her elbow.
"Is that all?" He asked when she faced him.
"Now that you mention it, I have Lola's spare skirt in my bag," she reached in her bag and passed it to him, "be wearing that, with no robe on top or tights underneath."
He gaped at her as she began to walk off again.
"We have the next class together!" He called out and she laughed.
"I won't be there, Servant."
🔸️
Y/n sat with her friends on the couches in the Gryffindor common room.
"Lola, I thought you said you'd get us Firewhisky?" Axel pointed out from his place at Y/n's side.
"Oh shit, I forgot." Lola brings her palm up to her head and flops onto the floor.
"Don't worry guys. All in good time." Y/n chimed in and they looked at her suspiciously.
Only moments later Sirius stalks through the Gryffindor common room holding a bottle that's had all the labeks ripped off.
He hands it to Y/n and she gives him a dismissive nod.
"One more order for tonight, Servant. Go up to Axel's dorm, make his bed and then bring down two of his hoodies." She pointed up the stairs to the boys dorms and he groaned.
🔸️
The next day Axel busts into the Marauders' dorm with an evil grin, at the crack of dawn.
"Sirius Black! Y/n's waiting downstairs and she demands your presence immeadiately!" He yells, spurring the boys to wake.
"Lucas, breakfast only just started!" Sirius protested and Axel only shrugged.
"Guess no quidditch training for you."
"Okay, okay!" Sirius leaps out of bed, wearing only sweatpants and sprints his way down the stairs.
Y/n was curled up in Axel's hoodie and a fluffy blanket that she must've brought from home.
For the school's bad-girl, she looked strangely sweet and innocent, half asleep in a fluffy blanket.
Sirius heart swelled and he felt a blush creep up his neck, seeing her so vulnerable.
"Go get me and my friends breakfast from the hall and bring it up here Black. Breakfast in front of the fire for us!" She ordered and he blinked.
Her strong, sharp voice was so at odds with the way she was laying on the couch, firelight sparkling in her eyes.
"And, since you couldn't be bothered putting a shirt on before you came down here, you can't put a shirt on when you go down there." She added and he pasted on a smirk.
"Like what you see L/n?"
"Don't test me Sirius Black or I'll break all your fingers with my eyes closed." She spat and Sirius turned away so she wouldn't see his frown.
"Right, well, I'll go and... get that for you."
🔸️
Friday afternoon, after classes, Y/n headed into the common room in search of Black to get to his training session.
She walked in and found him talking to Lupin on the other side of the room.
She began to shout his name, then silenced herself when she caught wind of his conversation.
"Moony I agreed because I thought it'd give me a reason to stick around with her, but she keeps sending me away on missions. If I didn't fancy her so much I would not be going through so much just to get a training session." Y/n gaped.
He fancied her?
She's never heard of anyone fancying her, except Axel, who is so painfully obvious about his feelings.
Sirius Black got on her nerves, he was annoying and loud and only thought he was funny.
So why did her heart flutter at the thought of his feelings?
"You fancy me, Black? That's the revelation of the century." Both boys jumped and faced her.
"Y/n I-"
"Come on Black, it's time for your training session." She cut him off with a small, but genuine smile for once.
His heart beat into his throat and his face felt like it was on fire.
They began to walk down to the pitch side by side and when the silence was almost unbearable, Y/n spoke up.
"So, you know the rules of quidditch right? You just want to get better?"
"Y-yeah. What... what were you thinking?" He curses himself for stuttering and Y/n smirks.
"I was gonna start with staying on a broom. Then catching and throwing a ball, then maybe hitting one with a bat. We don't need a new keeper or seeker, so we'll focusing on the chaser and beater positions." Y/n laid out the lesson plan and for a moment she didn't seem like, smoking, drinking, putting-her-feet-up-and-doing-no-work Y/n.
She was so passionate about quidditch and surprisingly committed to helping Sirius do well.
"Why do you hate me Y/n?" Sirius blurted out and covered his mouth.
"What? I don't hate you."
"Then why do you act the way you do?" He asks and she sighs.
"It isn't easy for me to make friends so I stick with the ones I have. And I have a temper, certain people tend to get on my nerves fairly easily. You with your group of Maroidies or whatever you call yourselves-"
"Marauders." Sirius corrected, but quieted at her warning look.
"You're really loud, your idea of mischief is annoying pranks and you flirt with anything that crosses your path." She finished and you could say his mood was significantly lowered.
They reached the quidditch pitch and Y/n glanced at her broom then Sirius' empty hands.
"But when you're by yourself, not showing off with those other arseholes, you aren't too bad Sirius." He looked at her to see a smile on her face and his heart stumbled.
She called him by his first name, with no add-ons, in a nice way.
"Now, last order of your servant-hood. Go in and get yourself a broom so we can get started before dark." She nodded towards the tent.
Sirius raced towards the school brooms with a bright, goofy grin covering his face.
Hiii i’m so glad you’re writing for ACOTAR 🥺can you write something for cass & azriel when they first find their mates ? 👉🏻👈🏻
A/n: Hi! I'm so sorry this took so bloody long, I've honestly had zero motivation to write. But here I am! Constructive criticism welcome, please be polite! Enjoy ❤
Cassian
+ So when he first meets his mate he doesn't know they're his mate
+ They know immeadiately, but keep it to themself in favour of not making a fool of themself
+ Cassian is still hung up on Nesta, but builds a closer relationship with his mate
+ When he realised he was angry
+ He really thought that it was Nesta, he invested so much in her, he loved her
+ But then he was angry for a whole different reason
+ "Why didn't you tell me?" "I didn't want to upset you. I didn't want you to upset me."
+ "We lost so much time."
+ He wants to make up for everything
+ "You know I love you right?" "Its only the fiftieth time you've said it this hour."
+ The baby feels constantly guilty for loving Nesta while his mate just sat aside and let him
+ Constant. Hugs.
+ Cuddles on Feyre's couch
+ "Cass I don't know if I trust Rhys and Feyre enough to wanna be on this couch."
+ So he wraps his wings around them and lets his mate lay on his wings
+ "You okay Cass? You keep shuddering." "They're sensitive okay?"
+ Shifting a lot on his wings to make him squirm
+ *Growl* "What's wrong, love?" *Growl*
+ Nesta doesn't like his mate, she lowkey misses the attention
+ "Well maybe you shouldn't have taken him for granted when you had him!"
+ Cassian catches them fighting
+ His money was in his mate- but they were going to crush Nesta
+ Takes them away from Nesta and runs them a bath
+ "Relax, sweetheart." And gives them a neck massage
+ Sponge washes his mate in the bath then olays with their hair as they lay there
+ They fall asleep and he wants to leave them there bc they're so gorgeous
+ But he knows he has to get them dry
+ So he delicately carries them out of the bath and places them on a spread out towel on the bed
+ Respectfully towel dries his mate and slips one of his sleep shirts over their torso
+ Cuddles and forehead kisses for days
+ He asked to train them
+ They said no. They'd done enough training in their time
+ His mate goes with him to the camps and sometimes offers to train the females
+ The females love them. They are a great teacher and command respect where they stand
+ Our baby Cassian is in awe
+ How could he ever have gotten so lucky?
Azriel
+ They both know the moment they meet
+ They're both too pussy to say something
+ "So Az, any interesting connections lately?" "Well there is this one guy I got on the inside of..."
+ He goes on and on and his mate just smiles stupidly
+ "Oh."
+ Sweet kiss on his cheek from his mate
+ "I love you." It just slipped out, but the way his mates eyes lit up made him forget any regret
+ His mate nudges him with a chuckle and invites him to their apartment.
+ "I can make us some *favourite meal*"
+ "Are you sure? You know that-" "I know what it means, Az."
+ Special Azzy grins reserved especially for his mate
+ When they kiss or hug, in public or in private, Az always wraps his wings around his mate. Always.
+ Waking up in the morning like: "Az it's too bright." *Wings up* *Pulls into chest* "I got you baby."
+ Introducing them to the Inner Circle
+ Mor loves them. Feyre is so happy for Az.
+ Rhys and Cassian flirting with them on purpose to get Az all worked up
+ Amren thinks they're too nice, but after getting to know them realises that they are very funny
+ And the perfect match for Azriel
+ Feyre invites them to Solstice celebrations before they've even stepped in the door
+ "Why don't you guys stay the night?" "No."
+ That earns him a slap to the chest
+ "Thanks Feyre, but its alright."
+ Then going home to their new home together that they haven't told anyone about yet
+ Azriel's shadows love his mate as much as he does
+ They wrap around them when they are close
+ When they are in the same room, but apart, the shadows literally try and reach out for them
+ They notice and walk over to Az, wrapping arms around his neck
+ "My Shadowsinger." "My Mate."
hi! can I request a Rhysand from ACOTAR x reader where she is actually his mate but he had made his choice with Feyre and she is just soo heartbroken by it but instead later on she and Azriel fell in love and it all works out in the end? thank you!
A/n: Sure you can love, I am so so sorry for how long its taken ne to get to these. My inbox is so full and I'm just useless. Hope y'all enjoy- constructive criticism is welcome, but as always please be polite 😊🥰
The Next World
Rhysand looked over the small female. She was High Fae, but her stature was petite and fragile.
She was beautiful, but in his eyes, she was no Feyre. He had already comitted to Feyre, already vowed himself to her.
He loved Feyre, but he did not love the female in front of him.
Why did it have to be this way? She was so nice, so deserving of love and so deserving of a mate. And now he had to break her heart
He glanced at her eyes for a moment, then looked away. This isn't fair. His mate wasn't coming. That's why he chose Feyre in the first place and now there can be no one else.
Her eyes were welled up with tears and despite her begging, she knew what was coming.
Rhysand forced himself to look her in the eyes as he spoke, no matter how much harder it made things.
"I'm sorry. I've made my choice. You should probably go." He tried to say it gently, but the words sounded harsh even to his own ears.
Rhys winced, it was as if he could see he heart in her eyes, it was as if he was watching it physically break.
Without another word, she turned and walked towards the front door of the estate, no tears left her eyes until she felt the fresh breeze of the city on her face.
Why did her mate find a love away from her? How was that fair at all? How was she going to face the Inner Circle tomorrow, knowing about the bond.
Knowing that it will never be accepted. Feeling as though she will never be accepted.
She felt numb. But she also hurt.
How can you feel nothing, but also be hurting at the same time? How was that fair?
She seemed to be asking herself that question a lot lately, and as she pushed open the door to a bar hoping to drink away her sorrows, she realized: nothing is fair.
Not in this world and not in the next.
Sighing, she makes her way to a secluded little corner at the bar, trying to avoid being seen by Cassian, Azriel and Mor who were all laughung and drinking together.
It felt like a taunt, they were happy now and they could go home and sleep well and the next day when the time came to visit Feyre and Rhys, there would be no hesitation. They would be greeted with smiles and hugs.
They would be greeted with love. And she would not.
When the bartender brought her her drink she smiled and slurped half of it down in one go. Her face felt cold from residual tears and her eyes felt stiff and dry.
She looked back up to the group she was trying to avoid only to realise that Azriel was no longer there.
Probably gone home, maybe with another female, or even a male. To be happy, or at least content with another for tonight.
The concept felt so far away, she felt as if she'd never be happy again. Especially with someone else.
A warm hand covered her shoulder and she turned around quickly, whipping out a fisted hand, only for her wrist to be caught.
Shadows curled around her wrist and reached up her arm. With a gasp, she inspected the intruder's face and realised that Azriel was standing behind her.
"Why the long face?" He asked and as much as she wanted to retort back, as soon as she opened her mouth, her throat closed up and tears burned behind her eyes again.
She looked away from the male and stared into the half-empty cup in her hands.
"What's up buttercup?" He asked again, sliding into the stool next to her and craning his neck to see her face.
She looked back up at him and raised an eyebrow.
"Did you just say 'What's up buttercup?'?" She asked and he gave a small smile as he nodded.
"What's wrong with that?" She shook my head at his words.
"Nothing. It's just stranger hearing the word buttercup slip from the spymaster's lips in such a playful way." She told him, wishing she could smile.
She enjoyed being around Azriel, he made her laugh and he made her feel comfortable. But right now, it felt so impossibly hard to feel happy.
"I'm not the spymaster right now. I'm Azriel, your friend and I'm here to help. Now, you gonna keep a secret from the spymaster?" He nudged her side and she ket out a sigh.
"I thought you weren't the spymaster tonight?"
"Well not actively. But it's not like I can just turn it off." He shrugged cockily. If it was any other day she would've laughed. She tried, but it felt as though she would never laugh again.
"Az... Rhysand is my mate." Shock clanged through him at her words.
"What?"
"He's my mate. And he doesn't want me."
"Oh my god."
🔸️
It had been a week since Rhysand's rejection and no one from the Inner Circle had seen Y/n since.
Except for Azriel.
She didn't show up for lunch the next day and she didn't appear for any meetings or meet-ups.
Mor and Cassian were worried and guilt was eating at Feyre, she felt it was her fault.
Rhysand was destroyed by guilt, he hadn't seen her in person since everything went down, but though the bond was quieting, it was as if he could feel her heartbreak through the bond.
But he could also feel something else, he didn't know what it was, but he thinks it is the reason he can feel the bond breaking.
Azriel had been spending all his spare moments with her, dedicating himself to making her feel better and helping her realise that she doesn't need a mate to be happy.
She doesn't need Rhys.
And she knows. She doesn't need Rhys, she has never needed him. The bomd had made her mind go whacky.
If she had let it continue taking over herself, she may have needed him. She was ready to as well, then Azriel put his hand on her shoulder.
Azriel smiled at her and got her to tell him what was happening.
Azriel called her a buttercup.
She hadn't smiled that night, but when she went to bed she questioned herself.
Why dodn't she smile that night? Azriel makes her smile. Why is she letting Rhysamd get in the way of that.
Of everything.
He doesn't want her and while it hurts, there is nothing she can do about it.
But she can find someone who does want her.
Her friends want her, maybe not in the way she would've been with a mate, but they love her and they want her.
A knock sounded on the door and everyone fell silent. They knew the scent and they knew who was at the door.
Feyre went to answer.
The group couldn't see what was happening, but they could hear the words exchanged.
"Y/n..."
"Is everyone here already?"
"Y/n I-" Feyre was cut off by a thumping noise.
Did she punch her?
The group got off the couch and walked into the entry hall to see Y/n and Feyre standing there wrapped in a hug.
Feyre was whispering 'I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.' and Y/n was just shaking her head.
Rhysand gave a soft smile at the scene in front of him. Through the slightly crumbling bond between them, he could feel Y/n healing.
When Feyre and Y/n pulled apart, everyone wanted their turn. There was almost a line in front of her while they waited for their hug too.
Rhys could feel Y/n's hesitation amd he didn't want to push it so he didn't get in line.
Then it was Azriel's turn.
He engulfed her and her small body pretty much disappeared into his as they hugged.
He squeezed her tightly and they stayed like that for a long moment, longer than the rest, inhaling each other's scents and revelling in the comfort of one another.
Rhys noticed. And he smiled. He knew why she was healing.
🔸️
It had been almost five months since Rhys had rejected the mating bond between him and Y/n.
If you looked really, really hard, it was still there. But it was faint and he could no longer feel her emotions, hear any words she let down the bond. It was pretty much non-existent.
And Y/n no longer cared. Of course she cared about Rhysand. They were still friends, in fact they were quite close after everything that had happened.
But she didn't need him the way she might've. She did need Azriel though.
And Azriel needed her.
They sat together on Azriel's couch, well, they layed together.
Azriel layed on the couch and she lay on top of him, his arms around her waist and keeping her from slipping off.
"Y/n?"
She hummed in response, but her eyes were still glazed over sleepily.
"Do you ever wish Rhys had picked you?" His voice was quiet.
"No." She replied with absolutely no hestitation.
"Why?"
"Because I love you and I am happier with you than I could ever be with Rhys. It's almost as if I left Rhys in the world behind me. You are my new world. And I would never wish for anything else." Her words were sweet, her voice was smooth and her eyes were soft.
Azriel was overcome with the love he felt for her. He lifted his wings up and wrapped them around her body tightly.
She felt warm and safe wrapped up in his arms and wings, surrounded by his scent and his love and also his shadows.
They weren't mates, but it didn't matter. They were in love.

Free Solstice
"Mor!" Feyre's voice rang through the estate.
"Feyre!" She called back from her spot on the couch next to Cassian. Cassian let out a wince at her voice in his ear and she scoffed dismissively at him.
Feyre swept into the room, paint and flour staining her fingers.
"What have you been up to?" Cassian asks raising a brow and Azriel gives a low, barely audible chuckle from his seat on the other couch.
"Mor did you say Y/n was planning to come round for the day on the Solstice?" Feyre asks, ignoring the comments on her appearance.
Y/n was an Illyrian female who had her wings clipped when she was young. Mor had run into her in an escape attempt from one of the less progessed Illyrian camps and offered her safety in a small apartment in Velaris.
Since then Y/n had become very close to the Inner Circle, but especially to Mor who made it a point to visit Y/n every day and make sure she was comfortable and happy in her new home.
Mor slid her eyes to Azriel sneakily. Since Y/n had started to be around them more often she had noticed a change in Azriel's behaviour.
He was louder around her, came out of his shell a bit more and he had warmed up to her faster than she had ever seen him do with anyone.
"Yes, if that's okay with everyone. Else she'll be alone and honestly I don't like the thought of leaving her alone on the first holiday since her escape. Or any holiday for that matter." Mor sat up straight as she spoke, glancing cautiously at everyone.
"What are you talking about?" Rhysand's voice sounded as he entered the room behind Feyre, "Of course we're all okay with it." He grinned cheekily and wrapped his arms around his Lady's middle.
"Invite her Mor! Everyone loves her. Besides I already got her a gift." Feyre adds and Mor grins at them.
"Great! I was planning on visiting her this afternoon. Anyone care to tag along?"
🔸️
"I said anyone not all of you! Her home is not big enough for everyone without it being cramped." Mor complained as they walked through the streets of the City of Starlight in a big, intimidating, messy clump.
"Y/n won't care. She loves us." Cassian shrugged indifferently, amusement written across his face as Mor continued to scowl.
She, once again, took a sneaky glance at Azriel only to see him sporting a grin as they continued on their way.
"Getting excited Az?" Mor teased and his grin was replaced by confusion.
"For the solstice?"
"I meant for going to see Y/n, but making a move on her on Solstice seems something to look forward to as well." Mor joked. By this time, everyone was in their own conversation and trailing slightly behind the two.
"A move?" He inquired, red beginning to tint his face.
Mor smiled. Contrary to popular belief, she was happy he was developing feelings for her. It meant he was moving on to someone who could give him what she couldn't. And they were going to be adorable together.
"Don't think I don't see the way you look at her Mister. The way you act around her. You're like Cassian, but a gentleman when she's around. No turtle shell." She nudged his side with her elbow and was shocked into a silence when he chuckled.
"I'm not going to make a move Mor. I have a foolproof plan. Not say anything and hope she falls in love with me." Az shrugged and Mor giggled.
"You're hopeless!"
🔸️
An excited squeal left Y/n's mouth as she threw open the door to Mor, the High Lord and Lady and everyone's favourite Illyrians.
She moved out the way to let them all enter and they filed into her lounging room, taking up all the seats.
"I didn't expect you all to be over! Did anyone want something to eat?" She offered as she sat on the arm of the chair next to Cassian.
Cassian wrapped an arm around her waist and looked up at her with a cheeky grin.
"Cooking for me sweetheart? You shouldn't have!" He winked. Cassian was always very flirty with Y/n, but it was only a joke.
Azriel didn't like it. He bit down on his tongue to stop himself from growling. He was annoyed with himself. It's never been difficult for him to keep his features schooled. What was it about this female that caused him to lose control so easily?
Y/n rolled her eyes, but she still had a bright smile on her face.
"What would everyone like? Actually I have some raspberry brownies I made yesterday, if you don't mind them being a little cold? They're still quite fresh." She stood from her spot next to Cassian and gestured towards her kitchen.
"You are an angel!" Cassian exclaimed and Y/n just shook her head, eyes twinkling with amusement.
Everyone cheered at her suggestion and she moved towards the kitchen. As she walked, Azriel could see the scars on her wings and back from when they clipped her. He had a sudden urge to go to that camp and rip apart everyone who let that happen to her.
A few moments later she reappeared with brownies and everyone jumped up, crowding the small table she had set them on.
"I'm afraid there isn't much to do around here. I still need to get a few Solstice gifts so maybe we could head out into town?" Y/n spoke and they all laughed at her sweetness.
"Y/n, you are too sweet for your own good." Rhys told her with a chuckle and everyone nodded in agreement.
"It's easy to be an accomodating person when you grew up knowing what it was like to be shunned and neglected." She gave a shrug and the Inner Circle exchanged worried looks.
It was also easy to worry about a person who never had anyone to worry about her before.
"We'd love to go shopping with you Y/n." Azriel stated firmly and Mor and Feyre eyed him carefully.
"Brilliant! We can all be together for a while, but then we have to split up so you don't see what I get you." She ushered everyone up and towards the door, grabbing a small satchel on her way out.
Moments later they were walking through the strips in town, colours and lights and music everywhere.
Life everywhere.
"So who are you struggling to buy for Y/n?" Cassian asked with a nudge that, again, made Azriel bit his tongue to keep from losing it at his 'brother'.
"Mor and Rhys." She admitted sheepishly and Rhys gave a fake offended look.
She muttered a sorry, but Rhys just laughed and reached around to pat her on the shoulder and let her know it was okay.
"We should stop and get a drink!" Mor remarked before gripping her friend and pulling her into a nearby pub.
As Mor oulled her away, Y/n gripped tight onto Azriel's elbow and dragged him along too.
"Get him!" She ordered, nodding to Cassian.
Azriel chuckled at her demand and pulled Cassian along with him by the shirt.
He joined the females at the bar and ordered and paid for himself and Y/n.
"You didn't have to do that Az." She told him, quietly, red tinting her cheeks.
"I know. I wanted to." He tried to shrug nonchalantly, but the blush on her cheeks was screaming at him to press his lips to each cheek.
'Woah. Where did that come from?' He thought to himself. He knew he harboured some feelings for her, but that was...
"We've lost Feyre and Rhys!" Mor exclaimed and Y/n and Azriel were brought out of their stupor.
"Oh well, that's alright, we were going to split up anyways." Y/n said decidedly after looking around.
"Y/n." Azriel's deep voice called and she returned her attention to him.
He pushed her drink across the counter to her and she gave a sweet smile.
"Any ideas on what to get Rhys?" She asked him and he smiled back at her.
"Some kind of sentimental shit. He'll eat that right up." He joked and they both laughed.
She took a thoughtful sip from her drink then placed it down again.
"What about a locket? On one side I could have carved an image of us. On the other, Just me and Rhys. It might be a bit small though... it could be circular, with the Night Court Insignia engraved on the front." She seemed to vomit the words without even thinking.
Azriel was in awe.
"How do you do that?" He gaped and she raised a brow.
"What?"
He opened his mouth to reply, but stopped. He looked around once more.
"We've lost Mor and Cassian." He pointed out, kicking himself for being so unobservant. So lost in the female before him.
"That's alright. You and I can go get Rhys' present ordered then. Then we'll go for a walk and see if we can find something for Mor." She lifted herself off of her stool and skipped towards the door.
Azriel followed without a second thought, a smile spreading across his face.
As they walked through a strip filled with clothing stores, they began to move closer and closer to each other.
Y/n glanced down at his hands. She had wanted to hold it, but she'd never touched his scars before and she didn't know how he would feel about it.
Only a few seconds later, Azriel brushed his fingers against hers and took hold of her hand. He didn't even think about it.
She stopped still and let out a gasp at the touch of his scars and he froze. He ripped his hand away from hers and began to apologise profusely.
"I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I know, the scars are-" He was cut of by her grabbing his hand gently.
"Beautiful," She mumbled, holding eye contact with him as she brought her lips to one of the nastier scars on the back of his hand, "they're beautiful."
And that's when he felt it. It felt like everything was right and clear. Like before he was seeing the world through frosted glass and now there was no lense.
The word clanged through him, just as it did her.
Mate.
"Everyone has scars Az," she looked back at her wings for a moment then turned back to him, beaming, "they're a symbol of strength. They're beautiful." She repeated.
"Y/n..." He mumbled.
'What if she didn't feel that?' He worried.
"I know Az. I don't know about you, but-"
"I couldn't be happier!" He stopped her talking and pressed his lips to hers gently.
The kiss was sweet and loving and happy. It was accepting. Azriel was quite happy just to stay like that for the rest of the night, but all good things come to an end.
Just as they pulled away, Cassian's obnoxious voice echoed down the street. No doubt about it, he was drunk.
"Y/n! Help me!" He yelled even when he was right in front of the two.
"You are drunk." Az observed and Y/n giggled.
"Thankyou Spymaster Obvious! C'mon Mister let's get you home." Y/n teased her mate and dropped his hand.
"Take me home? At least by me dinner first, love." Cassian teased and pressed a sloppy, drunk kiss to her cheek.
Mistake.
Azirel didn't even try to stop the growl that ripped from his throat. That was his mate.
His mate.
"What's eating him?" Cassian asked and Y/n took a step closer to Az.
"Calm down Azzy. Help me with Cassian, and just ignore him." She leaned up and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.
When she returned to her own height, Azriel found himself leaning down, chasing her lips.
She put a hand on his mouth and giggled at his pout.
"Let's all get home Azriel. Then... I think I'll make us some dinner."
