alao did you know that the Legitimate Research laboratory in Jetpack Joyride was originally going to be called "Maxtreme Industries"!? fucking!! Maxtreme Industries!! what a name!!! i literally just found this out today and it is the CHEESIEST THING EVER I LOVE IT
![[image id] A screenshot of a section of text from Halfbrick's blog announcing the release of a game called "Machine Gun Jetpack", which is the working title for 'Jetpack Joyride'. The text reads: "The lovable hero Barry Steakfries returns to commandeer the experimental MGJP from a Maxtreme Industries laboratory and blast his..." The text is cut off at the end but the main point here is that absolutely bonkers lab name. Holy moly. this is the page it's from by the way. it's the early announcement page when Jetpack Joyride was still known as "Machine Gun Jetpack" in its prototype stages. it's got a few other slight changes, such as calling the motorbike the "Badass Hog" instead of the 'Bad As Hog' as it was likely originally intended before it was toned down. and there's a mention of a "double shield" type of item too, which is probably something like the upgradable shield power up that wouldn't be introduced until many years later. it's like looking into a parallel dimension finding early stuff like this! imagine if they actually took this more "Maxtreme" direction and JJ ended up having a teen rating or something. i just cannot get over that name though. Maxtreme Industries. wow, that is something XD

(DISCLAIMER: as of the 17th of August 2024, it was revealed that Craig is directly related to Barry, which obviously makes my Crarry art very awkward. this is here to say this was made before any of that was revealed and obviously wasn't intended to be a ship about... that.)

it's a bit late, but here's the finished art for Jetpack Joyride's 13th anniversary! i can't even begin to tell you about all the memories i've had with this awesome game! here's to another decade of jetpack-related chaos!!
(i gotta clarify that the champagne bottle is referenced from an official JJ artwork for the apple soda jetpack and that the 13 might look a little wonky because i'm not very good at lettering,,,)
+ a few bonus wip screenshots under the cut (only a few though cause i didn't screenshot my progress as much)

(craig was gonna have a beer glass but i decided to just have the red cup instead because it was easier to draw lol)

that's all i screenshat,,, screenshotted before i went into Ultra Autism Focus Mode™ and finished the art,,,

does anyone have any information about this "Age Of Zombies Beer Stein" that was mentioned in a contest Halfbrick did for the game's iOS release? it's mentioned in this page as one of the first place prizes, but i've never seen a single image of it anywhere, and searching for it yields no results.
![[image id] A screenshot of a section from a page on Halfbrick's blog that reads "Age of Zombies beer stein – drink in style with Barry Steakfries, just like the lucky guy above! Barry is back on the iPhone after his first outing in Monster Dash, and he is ready to party!". Despite the "just like the lucky guy above" part of the section, there are no photos attached to the page. it's not on their Cafepress so it must have been something exclusive. i'm just curious to know what it looked like because you'd expect something like this to pop up as a photo somewhere. the section screenshotted seems to imply that there was a photo of it up on the page at one point, so i thought i'd look on the Wayback Machine to see if it was archived, but the one snapshot from 2020 has nothing. is this like, a piece of physical lost media or something? why is this so interesting?
(important note: i tried to have a look at the page announcing the winners to see if there was any info about the mysterious stein, but for some unknown reason, the link keeps redirecting to "Dog playing Fruit Ninja" which i find to be both kinda annoying and extremely funny. i keep getting my path blocked by some dog on an iPad and i don't know how to get around it....)

i like the little redraw Halfbrick did for the Fruit Ninja X JJ2 crossover for JJ+ :) it's cool seeing the same art in both styles!! i think i like the one on the right best because i absolutely love the original JJ art style and it feels more nostalgic to see him that way. it feels like an art piece they'd make back in 2011 - 2013 and i think that's cool :)
Jetpack Joyride promo art featuring the scientists working on the now discontinued Facebook version of Jetpack Joyride. the description of the original post has a link to the game, but now the URL just leads to a dead "Bricknet" login page. according to this article and this article, Bricknet was a sort of online platform for Halfbrick to put games onto that had added capabilities and integrations for friend interactivity for stuff like Facebook. there's also a trademark page for Bricknet if you're interested, just because i found it.
