Your Swan Story Just Made Me Think "What If A Tiny 4'11 Woman Saw A Transformed Swan And Was Basically
Your swan story just made me think "What if a tiny 4'11 woman saw a transformed swan and was basically all 'please make me ripped too' and ended up building a house by the lake to be with her swan buds. And people keep passing by and thinking she's a swan in human form, and are not prepared for her friends when their wrong"
(I love this idea! I’m trying this new thing where I don’t write 5,000 words and don’t post because it doesn’t have an ending lol. So here’s a short one!)
“I’ll make her my wife!” Samuel declares, slamming his tankard on the bar. The men and women around him groan, but it’s his best friend Otis that speaks.
“You’ve said that everyday for the past week,” Otis says. “Maybe try talking to her first, huh?”
Samuel shakes his head so hard that his hair, tied up with a scrap of leather, comes undone. “We don’t need words. Our eyes met across the lake. The sun lit up her verdant eyes and–”
“We fell in love instantly,” the pub choruses. The ladies in the back all take a shot, giggling at their incomprehensible game.
Samuel continues doggedly. “My mother married a frog, and I will marry myself a swan. Fairy tales run in my family, mate, you’ll see.”
“Sure, you drunk bastard,” Otis says and buys him another pint.
Samuel decides that tomorrow, tomorrow he’ll show them all.
——————————————————
“Good morning,” he calls from the fence line. He swipes his hat from his hand as the young woman turns and tries not to show his nerves. “L-lovely day we’re having, no?”
The young woman blinks at him. She’s small, thin arms and dainty feet with a long, lovely neck. This makes sense, of course, seeing that she is a swan in human form.
Samuel knows that at any moment, his love will invite him in, glad to finally have an excuse to be in his presence just as he is glad to be in hers. It is good that he knows this because the blood is pounding in his ears and he can hardly hear a thing over the thunder of his own heart.

There’s a way to find out how many followers you have?!?
it always throws me for a loop when people are like, "lost a follower for this" like are you checking how many followers you have that often??? Why does it matter if you lost a follower? Its tumblr. Everyone on this hellsite it a little shit. I dont even know how many followers I have to begin with.

i omitted “bone empress” and “shadowy marchioness of bones” bc gideon doesn’t technically SAY them…
bonus:

Huh, reading that (which was fantastic, btw) my mind keep substituting performative liberalism for performative peace. And, like, it’s not wrong? If we’re already woke it’s awfully hard to wake up.
not to be all “tw*light did nothing wrong” but misogyny honest to god killed the hunger games
I’m a little worried for you OP. You doing ok? Cause it sounds like you’re struggling with a heck of a lot of cognitive dissonance. Perhaps related to your parents? Perhaps a partner of yours? Perhaps yourself?
It’s scary sometimes to look at our life and admit that while people never physically hurt us, never physically abused us, we are still hurt and survived abuse. And I know it’s tempting to assume our childhoods were our fault. That something was just wrong with us and that was why we were emotionally rejected. That if we couldn’t find it, that wrong thing, that was because we weren’t good enough. This is understandable for a child to think this, because our little lives are so dependent upon the stability of the adults in our lives. I think it’s time little you heard the truth. It was not your fault. There is nothing wrong with you. You are enough. You deserve redemption.
why azula’s redemption arc wouldn’t make sense
not everyone can be redeemed. it doesn’t make sense for everyone to be good. some people are just too broken, too far gone. being victimized doesn’t mean you can’t be a bad person. i love azula as a character. i think she’s incredibly written and totally nuanced.
1. azula never knows what love is– in the comics especially, we see that ursa truly and deeply loved/loves azula. azula never saw this love because ozai warped her perception of what love is. this caused her to view ursa’s discipline and admonishments as her mother hating her. in reality, this discipline came from a place of deep love.
2. nature vs. nurture– she was raised to be cruel but we see in several flashbacks that she has always been like that to some degree. she naturally had sociopathic tendencies and very little remorse for her actions. we know that deep down zuko is a kind and fairly gentle person. azula is not. she wouldn’t have that same foundation of good to turn to in redemption.
3. she could have been redeemed if ursa had stayed, but ursa chose zuko– ursa wasn’t perfect. she murdered azulon to save zuko and was forced to run away. however her choice to leave and save zuko’s life doomed azula. ursa could been there for azula, but she chose to save zuko rather than try to save azula from becoming a monster
4. she was ozai’s favorite– azula was a product of her environment. ozai showered her with affection and compliments. he never reprimanded her for her cruelty but rather rewarded her for it. her entire life she was taught that she could get what she wanted through cruelty.
5. all her relationships were built on fear– she never learned what it’s like to have a healthy relationship and copied her father’s methods of control. she uses abusive tactics on her friends because that’s what she saw. also, it’s not her friends’ jobs to “fix” her (i’m looking at you tyzula shippers)
6. her father never hurt her– ozai burned zuko. azula laughed at that. it wasn’t a traumatic experience for her like it was for zuko. that betrayal by his father played a part in zuko’s redemption. azula never had an event like that.
i don’t think azula was a good person. i don’t know if she was an inherently bad person, but she was a flawed and broken person. not everyone gets to be redeemed. that’s real life. i know this is a cartoon, but
