Foster-Gimbel is a brother of Alphi Phi Omega service fraternity, which helps Chicago scouts earn their merit badges once a year.

2. Sense of Place: Chicago resident Sydney Bixter reacts with ambivalence to a slam poet getting booed off the stage at The Green Mill on Sunday night. The historical jazz club is home to the Uptown Poetry Slam.
