Mollie Mirkwood has her work cut out for her. After graduating from the Glimmerbrook University of Magickal Arts, she finds herself working as both apprentice and caretaker of the elderly Doctor Octavian Fell, a kooky spellcaster with a few tricks up his sleeve...and even more skeletons in his closet... What could possibly go wrong?

why you should keep writing your story
because itβs a puzzle no one else will ever arrange the same way as you.
because there are ideas that simply wonβt come to you until you write down the wrong words.
because all the bad scenes are the bones of the wonderful scenes.
because someone will love it: someone will read it once, and twice, and thrice; someone will ramble to you about the complexity of it; someone will doodle your characters out of love; someone will find it in exactly what they were looking for with or without knowing it.
because they have things to say, your characters. theyβve told you all those secrets and they have more to tell you, if you will listen.
because you love it even when you donβt; even when it drives you mad or when it accidentally turns into apathy; even when you think youβre doing it all wrong; you love it, and it loves you back.
because you can get a treasure even from things that go wrong; because if a story crumbles down you can build a shinier one on the same spot; because you wonβt know where it will take you until it takes you there.
The Origins of Nyssa Styx π½πΈ
So, in my absence from Tumblr, I've been playing a lot of TS2 again. In my very first rotational playthrough two years ago, Dina Caliente gave birth to twin girls; one that looked exactly like Dina, and one that was a hybrid. I named them Daphne and Nyssa Goth. With the help of a mod in my game, Dina eventually rolled the want to give Nyssa up, but not Daphne. As much as this broke my heart, I felt it made perfect sense for Dina. She would want to get rid of the hybrid child that gave away her cover, but keep the one that would help her hold onto the Goth fortune after Mortimer passed away. So, I allowed Nyssa to be put up for adoption in my game and this formed the storyline that I currently play with her.
Last year, I wanted to tell Nyssa's origins through the use of the Globetrotter challenge, in an attempt to step her up to be the founder of the Live for Something challenge, but very quickly got distracted with real life and other things. I have a very bad habit of not wanting to finish anything once the hyperfixation wears off, and given that the save file became corrupted after one of the updates, I didn't feel the need to revisit her story until a few days ago.
You see, I always planned for Nyssa's story to be a side component to a much larger retailing of the Caliente story in TS4. I had an overarching name for the series planned out and everything and I simply got discouraged. I've always enjoyed the Caliente family more than any other TS2 family simply because of the lore around them. My natural fascination for the stars and aliens is probably the core reasoning for that, but they also simply have one of the best storylines ever in any sims game.
The problem is, there is a still a few kinks I need to work out and considering I'm not the best when it comes to planning out a story, (I tend to just "go with the flow" until I inevitably hit a wall and give up), I decided to put Nyssa and the rest of the extended Caliente family on the backburner. That was until I decided I wanted to try and do an Uberhood in TS2 and everything started coming back. I'm grateful, because the muse for the original story has been reborn, but I still think it's going to take me some time to set everything up.
I did, however, have a whole lot of fun playing the Globetrotter challenge, and after seeing so many other people playing it on my dash in the few days I've been back lurking, I'm going to be reattempting the challenge once again with a different sim. It will give me something to do in the game to keep me from getting burned out setting up Nyssa's new save file.
I know that was really long winded and if you read that whole thing, I appreciate you, but I'm so excited to be back and I can't wait to tell the story I've been wanting to tell for years but never had the courage too.
V.1: Silent Pines, 1998 Special Credit: Silent Pines is heavily inspired by and uses a very similar style to the stunning @windbrook savefile by @folkling, the gorgeous portsim savefile by @florwal, and the amazing builds by @moonwoodmillz. Thank you all for your hard work, I take a lot of inspiration from you all. Silent Pines is a base-game only save file inspired by Life is Strange with 3 major worlds, a whole new set of townies, and a complete mystery to solve.
Version 1 contains;
Willow Creek as Silent Pines
13 Community Lots
3 move-in ready homes for your sims
A total of 9 houses, 6 of which are filled with townies
18 households with jobs, story, and drama
A complete mystery to solve (should you want to)

I used S4Studio to rename all the worlds, and I've decorated all the neighbourhoods with T.O.O.L. As I said before, Silent Pines is completely base-game friendly, absolutely no packs or kits are used. There is some custom CC, mainly posters that add to the story. The CC is one package file and adds nothing other than some customisation to the story. It is not required.
For example the missing poster of Cleo Emerson, a girl who disappeared under mysterious circumstances;
SPECIAL THANKS Thank you to my beta testers @theemodernsim, @authorspirit, @acuar-io, @aridridge for all your help! You've been amazing and I really am very grateful. And thank you to everyone who has liked, reblogged, followed, and generally supported Silent Pines. It means the world to me to be able to share my work with people!

DISCLAIMER: There have been reports of the 'build mode item missing' message popping up, especially in the downtown area. I've tried to fix this to the best of my ability, and I hope it's alright! Also, if there is anything I should fix or have left out, please let me know. Thank you for your patience <3
ALSO: Due to the Sims 4 being a broken game, I really don't recommend playing Silent Pines with Rental Units, in case the T.O.O.L objects up and disappear lol.
Silent Pines is heavily inspired by Life is Strange, the Windbrook save file, florwalsims' Portsim save file, as well as the hazy nostalgia of the late 90s and early 2000s. I hope to see you all soon for V.2!
Love from, Silent Pines.
