what she means: captain america has been a huge part of my life and chris evans’s portrayal of one of my favourite characters got me through dark times and introduced me to a same but different incarnation of this character that i love. chris evans has played this character with such dignity and grace and has shown time and again that he understands the core of who steve rogers is; and despite his anxieties about taking it on, he’s grown so much in his time with steve rogers and has come to do his best to exemplify steve’s values on and off-screen. marvel is huge on legacy characters and of course the next captain america will be his own actor & character & person, but chris evans is steve rogers, and the last few years have been such a great & wonderful journey with him.

Growing up you were taught that life was black and white, not in a figurative sense, quite literally black and white.

Colour only came to the lucky ones, the people who found their other half, their ‘soulmate’ as your mother put it. Throughout your entire childhood, your mother would tell you stories of the colours that took over her world, from the blue skies on a sunny day to the vibrant green of the grass in every park across the city. She would tell you about the beautiful colours that were in your eyes and the gentle colours of your hair, you wanted nothing more than to look in a mirror and see the colours she spoke of, not the black and white you were cursed with.

Not many people your age had the fortune of having colour splashed into their lives, it was rare for someone so young to meet their other half, it was nearly unheard of in your neighborhood. But when you met the nervous boy who had just moved in next door from Queens, everything had changed.

The sky slowly began to turn a pale shade of blue and the grass a shade of green, the colours of traffic lights became clear and the walls of your room were actually purple, not the peach colour you had asked your mother for. You trusted your parents when it came to the colour of things, you had no idea what green or blue even looked like but once they slowly began to filter into your everyday life, you worked out what was what.
