Grateful to have found an explanation as to why this case was not made public but others were:
Reddit is useful sometimes.
instead of saying that Jannik should be banned shouldn't we be saying that this is how every athelete in a similar situation should be treated
I don't think sinner actually did anything wrong so this post isn't about that. what pisses me off about this is that all the while this was going on the ATP was posting their little congratulatory videos for him on reaching no. 1 which even before this news people thought was really weird because they had never treated a new no. 1 like that before. alcaraz and medvedev did not get a video of all former living world no. 1s congratulating them on their achievement when they became no. 1, for example. it was bizarre as hell, and that was just one of the many weird, over the top congratulatory posts. and I'm absolutely not comparing zverev or sinner as people or their situations at all, but while zverev was under investigation the ATP's PR for him went over the top to paint him as incredible and special and wonderful too. they were suddenly SO many posts about zverev, he was everywhere as soon as they needed to create an image for him almost like a preventative measure in case he was eventually found guilty. and I'm just sick of the way the ATP uses PR to protect its male players because it fucking works and people do fall for it, and it will be used again for whatever man is in trouble next over something a lot more serious than unintentional doping.
I loathe that advertising for gambling sites is inevitable when watching sports.
First, gambling is addictive.
Second, problem gamblers are known to harass players online.
(Nothing particular happened today, it’s just my soapbox moment after watching tennis Olympics for a week.)
Aggressive fans are such a deterrent, no matter the topic (they ruined the Star Wars franchise for me, for instance).
Seeing Novak’s genuine emotion when he won gold actually moved me and reminded me that there was a person at the center of these trolls shouting online.
Achievements don’t happen in a vacuum. And they build on the past. I loathe that GOAT debate because of that: several people can be great, at different times, for different reasons.
IF I SEE ONE MORE
“debate is over!”
FROM NOVAK FANS I'LL SERIOUSLY CONSIDER MURDER.
Oh my god see the fans always takes away my happiness for Novak. If only Novak had better fanbases that doesn't see him as a god (not all the fans ofc, just some, my mutuals and friends are very chill tyvm) then I might actually be a fan of him. Maybe not but I'll appreciate him more openly.
there's never a debate WHY??? because we should all just appreciate all 3-4 of them because theyre all amazing and legends of the sport and they werethe ones that made each other better players. Seriously, even when Roger and Andy retired, and every match for Rafa might be his last. Some of Novak's fans still can't seem to appreciate the other 3 players that obviously played a part in Novak's success.
imagine winning your first professional title and just a week later getting a silver medal at your FIRST olympics while being 17!!!
I’m glad I have the emotional support group that is tennisblr, Carlitos crying was rough.
And now I switch to full support for Jasmine and Sara! (That stadium better fill up with people really quickly)
I went from asleep to massively stressed - that break point was too much before my first cup of tea! Carlos needs to win, please and thank you.
🇨🇿 Kateřina Siniaková and Tomáš Macháč win the 🥇 gold medal in the mixed doubles tennis event at the 2024 Paris Olympics
These olympics tennis week is so much fun! I’m totally there for the pure joy of Carlos and Rafa, for Andy giving us everything he has until the very end and even after that!
Even the crowds are friendlier! I love this fun and friendly version of Roland-Garros.
They have to apply every time, being selected to both would be quite the gold star on your tennis resume!
do y’all think they’re reusing the Roland Garros ballkids. how cool would that be for the kids if so
Roland-Garros lore: they are not using the person who usually announces the players coming on court, Marc Maury, and it feels like a parallel universe of Roland-Garros.
One more thing to love about tennis at the Olympics: actual easy access to broadcast! I’m going to be able to watch the Carlos and Rafa match!
I’m often sick, and this latest tonsillitis makes Jannik Sinner so. relatable. Even world #1 have to call in sick! Sometimes often! And they still perform at work! Take that, toxic workplaces.
Coco Gauff during her Round 1 match at the 2024 Australian Open
I love everything about this picture, from the framing of Coco to the way her lovely yellow kit looks against the iconic AO blue courts in the Australian summer sun. Even the shadow of the ball meters ahead adds to the feeling of movement in the picture; Coco must have just hit the ball. Honestly, I'm going to say this is already one of the pictures of the tournament -- at least for me. I remain in awe of Corinne Dubreuil.

Today, Nuno Borges defeated Rafael Nadal on clay, winning in straight sets to secure his first ATP title and what was only Portugal's fifth-ever ATP-level title. Just months after João Sousa, who was considered Portugal's greatest tennis player, retired from professional tennis, Nuno has cemented himself as our best hope and has managed to shed some light on Portuguese tennis once again. It may be a small sport in our country, but players like João and Nuno will forever be an inspiration to countless Portuguese tennis players (amateurs or professionals) and hopefully even inspire more young children in Portugal to pick up a racket and embark on a journey through this beautiful sport.
That’s it, I’m downloading F1 podcasts to follow these boys more closely! Too many of my tennisblr mutuals are into F1, I’m past merely intrigued.
