this is my leg hair acceptance journey (for anyone interested)

i'm still not there yet but my perception has changed

before starting, even with my legs covered in winter i'd shave everything (even my arms and back)

then i started letting it grow in winter and still shaving/waxing in summer

i did that for a few years and last summer i decided to keep my leg hair, only to bleach it (cuz it's very dark)

i even went to the beach with it in a bikini and it wasn't easy but it was surprising how not so many people noticed, although i was only with family so it definitely helped feeling more comfortable

i've progressively gotten used to seeing myself with leg hair and i like the feeling of it now and would rather not shave anymore

i still have trouble fully accepting it though, i still don't like how my leg hair looks with more feminine clothing such as skirts or dresses, and i'm not sure i'd be willing to wear shorts to work with leg hair yet (i'm thinking of waxing at first and letting it grow out again so that i can slowly get used to having more and more leg hair in a work/public setting)

basically, it takes a lot of work, and a lot of time, but it is possible to free yourself from this gender norm and it's very cool not having to be obsessed with every unshaved hair and not having to spend a lot of time and money shaving/waxing (also a lot less pain and less blood)

i'm lucky to hang out with mostly women who have the same mindset as me on body hair

i did get comments from my dad but a little feminist lecture put a stop to them

so next step is in a work environment which will be very hard bcs they're not the most progressive bunch but i'll try

I saw people do this & adopted it myself, and it’s actually been super helpful—set a daily reminder to do your arab.org click of the day. It has been said ad nauseam at this point, but if each person in the thousands of people who engage on palestine posts clicked on this, we’d be raising thousands in revenue towards humanitarian aid. Don’t think your one little click is unnecessary. It adds up fast—but only if you actually do it.

A lot of people asked how they can help if they don’t have funds to spare. This is the most passive way to raise donations towards Palestinian aid.

SUPPORT PALESTINIAN BUSINESSES

SUPPORT PALESTINIAN BUSINESSES

while it’s important for us to protest, raise awareness, boycott, and pressure our governments… it is also important that we appreciate palestinian people and palestinian culture. they are more than just victims. they are artists, entrepreneurs, fashion designers, movie makers, writers, musicians, scholars—they are people. so let’s celebrate all that makes palestinians who they are by supporting their businesses and showing our appreciation and solidarity.

SUPPORT PALESTINIAN BUSINESSES

NOTE: philz coffee is no longer palestinian owned and have been forbidding employees from wearing pins in support of palestine. take your business elsewhere.

*please follow @/books_palestine on instagram for more fun ways to support palestinians and celebrate palestinian culture. half of this list was made based off of their post (you’ll see in older reblogs i’d included the infographics they’d made. but i’ve since removed them bc i’ve made the list longer and organised it a bit differently to their list. did keep the first page on their infographic though ^^)
