Alright, I'm gonna do something I've never done before...

All jokes aside. Between this being a draft and it going up. I'm going to challenge myself to write character scenes to introduce you all to the world of my many characters and their relationship with with my main character, Cassie.

The challenge: For the whole month of January, I have to post a small scene showcasing a few of my characters. They can be of any length, but they at least have to be more then 1k. If I can't reach that, then I'll have another story making up the difference.

Now, I'm expecting myself to fail because I become overwhelmed very easily; but I'm hoping this challenge will give me the necessary stress to actually finish it.

Akuma is a character I made to be a boyfriend who would love the "evil" sides of my personally. At this point in my life, I was struggling with feeling like I had darker thoughts than most, it didn't help almost everyone I knew at that point said I was mean and some compared me to a heartless killers. I am a little cynical, but nothing too serious.

At this point, I made a demon love me—a perceived angel with dark thoughts. I tried to see the positive in the world, but at this point I just couldn't and assumed I would be subjected to a life of evil.

The story is made to be humorous at some points as this is Akuma's (and my own) way to diffuse tense situations. Suppressing your heart's words is a running theme as Akuma denies his feelings. So this piece isn't from the story, but an example of Akuma's feelings once he comes to terms with them.

Jess was made during a time where I felt most females disliked me for… simply being alive. Being a lightskinned black female wasn’t fun. Girls especially disliked me and I had a hard time relating to them because of their bullying. Eventually, I found out that it wasn’t even my fault, but several factors I can’t control. From this, I made a character who’s entire personality revolves around disliking my main character for something she can’t control. Obviously, it starts as a simple hatred because Jess can’t have the boy she likes due to him liking Cassie, but I eventually turned it into Jess dealing with insecurities of her own and feeling undesired. I struggle with that as well, but not to the degree I have Jess experiencing it. Ultimately, Cassie and Jess become very good friends who work well together, they keep things real between them and have one another's back knowing each other’s downfall.

All she could see was darkness, nothing to aid her choice. She huffed and got up staring into the night sky.

“I don’t know what to do! Why… do I not understand myself enough to make a decision?” A sigh escaped her lips. Cassie held her face and tried to relax herself.

There, in the silence around her, she heard a strange sound, a twinkle chimed above her. She turned her head up and saw the sky gleaming full of stars. Her eyes couldn’t make out anything other than the gathering of stars in the sky, but she made shapes in her mind.

Here I am at 3 AM listening to Ateez's new MV, HALAZIA, completely by coincidence; I should be asleep but, I had a revelation. Aside from my immediate love of the song, I realized Ateez's budget is massive for a group only 4 years old and it's amazing to me that Ateez hasn't fallen down the hole of making music for the sake of trends.

Their music has a story behind it, they're not just random songs that are pushed out to funnel more money into the company, it's actually a story being told through music and filmography.
